Big Lie From Wikipedia
The source of Big Lie technique, from Chapter 10 of Mein Kampf, Adolph Hitler:
All this was inspired by the principle--which is quite true in itself--that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes.
The essay below was forwarded to me yesterday. The author, Anne Kilkenny, has been interviewed and quoted in the New York Times and other papers.

Dear Editor:
I drive past a house that has a large sign in the front yard that proclaims, “America, Love it or Leave it.” I have to wonder which America the homeowner means.

Sooner or later George Bush and Dick Cheney must stand trial for their crimes. OR are we no longer a nation of laws?
The Bush/Cheney Administration of the last eight years has been the worse since I was born and is arguably the worse executive branch administration in the history of the country. What George Bush and Dick Cheney with the assistance of the Republicans have done to this country is nothing less than criminal. Bush and the Republicans have allowed oil companies to plunder our economy with price gouging. They’ve contracted their friends to conduct a privatized war in Iraq at an exorbitant cost to the American people. They’ve provided tax cuts to the rich while creating the greatest deficit in the history of the country. They’ve indebted the United States to China. They’ve cost the lives of 4000 young Americans in a war that never should have been. They’ve made America the terror of the world, losing us allies and engendering an enmity we’ve never known.
