Now even the Republicans are getting on the Obama train.
According to a UPI report yesterday, "Douglas Kmiec, a leading conservative Republican lawyer Sunday endorsed Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for U.S. president." His tipping point was Obama's speech on race which will, I believe, serve as a litmus test for all current and future politicians.
We the people can now accurately read the hearts of those who represent us. If the politician is true and his or her words and actions correspond, a reasoned and heartfelt response to Obama's call for change will be the result. If politicians (or pundits) are simply drawn and moved by power, their response will be to ignore the speech or question Obama's motives. This type of politician cannot accept that we the people have hope now, hope for a better day and hope that our next president will be a thoughtful, courageous and principled leader.
Beyond party lines, beyond old alliances and posturing, is a chance, now, for our elected representatives to make a better choice. They will show their true colors by their choice: either for truth or for power.
Good call, Douglas Kmiec.
For all of my former Republican brothers and sisters--
What made you change? For me it was disillusionment with the part and the increasing national debt, and the fearlessness and graciousness of Obama. Just interested in hearing others' stories.
