Why are we so inspired by Barack Obama? Why in the middle of the storm does Barack Obama seem to calm us and brings us to a sense of peace? What is it about Barack Obama that gives us hope? Why do White and Black America, Asian and Hispanic America, Gay and Straight America, Rich and Poor America, Educated and Uneducated America---The United States of America believe in this man? This is why I…..believe in this man. Barack Obama is a Calmness of the Mind.

As a woman from Toone, TN, I had not met a man who reflected the wisdom of my late grandfather-----And then I heard this man give this resounding speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. I was so touched by his words and the tone of his voice was heartfelt. I couldn’t stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks. Who is this man, I thought. I begin to surf the internet and read everything I could find out about this man, called Barack Obama. The more I read about him, the more I found myself becoming inspired to get involved in the 2008 election. I decided to do more than just vote. So, I registered to be a volunteer in the DNC in Denver CO and then I registered to campaign for Barack. I soon realized that Barack Obama restored that feeling that I had about my late grandfather. He restored my belief that people still believe in integrity, principle and in doing “what” is right as opposed to “who” is right. He made me feel that I wasn’t naïve for still believing such. What is right? “We the people of the United States of America, “Electing” Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States of America.
