Hello to all the new members of Stress Management!!
Please feel free to post ways in which you have dealt with stress related to this very LONG primary season!!
I would like to start out by saying that my new goal to combat stress is to exercise at least 20 minutes every day. I don't have any fancy exercise equipment, so I am going to try a walk, dancing to some music(if the weather is bad) or maybe a brisk walk up and down some stairs!!
Yesterday was my birthday, so I figured it would be a good time to start. I'm off to a good start!!
Well, another year has come and gone. I know that there are other people out there who would agree with me that it has been a remarkable year. For me the remarkable part started last February, when a skinny guy with a funny name decided that he would take a shot of a lifetime- to run for President of the United States.
I had been watching this man out of the corner of my eye since he cut through my veil of sadness and hopelessness in the summer of 2004. His voice and his words cut through my self imposed prison and said"hey, you there, wake up, what have you been doing sitting in the dark, there is hope to be had in this life!"
And from that day forward, I felt just maybe, all had not been lost. And just exactly who was this guy? Where did all of his hope come from?
He's seems a regular sort of guy, someone I could have known in high school, but who's heart and soul led him down a very different path than others would take.
I can't put my finger on it, it is something so abstract that it's hard to grasp, it is just something that one maybe gets to witness once in a lifetime if lucky.
He inspires us, he gets through to us, he makes us laugh, he tells us there is no cause that is ever lost or without hope, he sees the best in us.
And we believe in him, but mostly HE BELIEVES IN US, EVERY SINGLE ONE, be they a winner or loser, young or old, black, brown, red, yellow or white, rich or poor, good or bad and everything in between.
And so this year will be known in the journals of history
This was the year that.......HOPE LIVED.......
Hi Everyone-
I just signed up to help make telephone calls for the campaign!! I don't know exactly what I have to do yet, but they will be contacting me. I'm also looking forward to getting out and getting some signatures on the petitions for Barack!! Can't wait to talk to some people and sing Senator Obama's praises!!! Don't forget I'm bringing bumper stickers for everyone , free of charge, to the meeting at the Bagel Bin on this Saturday, Oct. 27th!!
See you all there!!
Patty
It was great getting to meet everyone today at the Bagel Bin!! I just wanted to let everyone know again that I am collecting old cell phones & accessories to send in to CollectiveGood on behalf of Obama for America. They accept ANY cellphone(batteries & chargers included) PDAs & pagers. They take these items and refurbish them to be sold in Third World countries(to help people who may not have access to this technology at a minimal price). Profits are sent to the charity/nonprofit of your choice, in this case, Obama for America. I have 3 cells right now, and plan on getting several more from friends & relatives. I will box up all the items and send them to CollectiveGood, hopefully within the next several weeks.
If you are interested in getting one to me, please email me at pattyforobama@yahoo.com. I will try to pick them up from you or you can drop them off to me. I believe we are having another meeting in Oct., so you could also bring them at that time. Thanks!!! Patty
Hi-
My name is Patty and I haven't yet made it to an event or meeting, but I DO plan on being at the 9/22/07 meeting at the Bagel Bin. I would like to invite anyone that is attending to bring any old cell phones they have around or if you know anyone with any to the 9/22 meeting. I will be sending a box to CollectiveGood that will send any profits to the Obama for America campaign. It can be ANY kind of cell phone, batteries and accessories(chargers included). I have 3 phones & accessories that I am sending and would be more than happy to send more!!! Thanks and see you at the Bagel Bin!!!
