Hey Everyone!
Well, as most of you can see . . . I'm baaaack! I had some rough times with the Big "C", but it's getting somewhat manageable.
I apologize to anyone that I may have offended after the primary. I hope you all will forgive me. I was so excited to see Barack had won! When I experienced certain negative things on the blogs that I was not accustomed to, I didn't take them well, partly because I was in pain, so, I blame it on myself for letting all of it get to me. I didn't like being Troll Bait.
Now, however, after Barack's father's day speech, I sprung up and drew from his strength. I needed it so much. It seems as if right when things get a little slow, Barack comes through with another surprise (Al Gore) and lifts your spirit right back to where it should be, again! The man is a genious!
I've enjoyed seeing him reach people with such great compassion, that he received a standing ovation. I do not disagree with anything that he has said. I don't know about anyone else, but we have been waiting for him to bring these specifics into the forefront. He states each position so eloquently, that you know at this moment, 6/08, he really has this in the bag. No problems with Florida this year folks, that will not happen again. Yes, I know this is politics, but I feel it in my bones - this is our new President.
This weekend I am going to what we call the "Taste of Champaign". My husband and best friend are taking me. I'm so happy! I haven't been out in such a long time. Hundreds of people will be there and I just received my Obama gear. I'm going to wear it. I hope I can talk to anyone and everyone to discuss Barack's election. I hope that I can bring forth change in all the people I speak with. As a friend of mine says "that would be some kind of wonderful".
Shine bright my fellow Obama stars! He needs us now more than ever!
I'll give you all an update on my little trip and let you know the amount of votes I can drag in! LOL!
Love ya,
Sue
I am still trying to distinguish why Barack Obama is not reaching certain people. His message is so clear, so universal, his temperament is calm, his words so decisive and his insightful vision is for the entire world. It is a admirable message and even people in Europe would actually like to cast a vote for our candidate.
He has worked endlessly to culminate all people together in an unpresidented way to show the world that we Americans (every color, nationality and creed) are good people, not bad, and that our present President Bush does not represent "We The People of the United States". We are different and our ideals and views are not reflected by Bush's presidency.
However, Barack Obama does represent "We The People of the United States". We believe in his audacity to hope, his courage, and his commitment to continue on with this gruling campaign.
He is willing to roll up his sleeves and get to work immediately for our country. Why wouldn't someone want him to lead us? He wants to help you if your income is below $100K, he wants to help you get proper health care, he wants to change your environment issues (global warming and greenhouse gases) NOW. These are only a few, but they are positive changes for the good of the people and that is who he wants to work for. His record is rich, and we need for the middle class to look at his record and you will be surprised. I know you will find that Obama feels and has in common the same feelings you do, so please, review his record.
Let's let him do his job. Let's vote him in in November. Let's welcome him as the President of the United States. He WILL make this world a better place. Please vote this November for the only candidate worthy of this position - Senator Barack Obama!
Hi, I'm Sue and I am a 52 year old woman. I am pretty much confined in my home because of cancer and so I am looking for different ways to help in any way I can. I'm up late because my days and nights are mixed up because of my medicine. Maybe most of the people I am looking for are asleep already (most people are!), but I saw a blog earlier by Birdalone and Birdalone explained that he/she only had dial-up connection and didn't even have cell phone service in their area. Birdalone said that he/she was an older person.
I know that the internet blog sites are generally used by many younger people, but what I wondered was how many people over 55 use this blog site? We need to reach people 55 and above and wondered what issues were important to them and how the Obama campaign could make a difference in their lives.
If you are 55 and above and you use this site, what do you like about it and what would make you feel more comfortable using it?
We need to hear from you! You are very important to us. Let me know what you think!
And, of course, any of you young whippersnappers(lol) with great ideas, we need your input - you are our future!
Kelli Furishima, Barack's high school teacher at Punahou High in Hawaii provided this poem Barack wrote.
I saw an old, forgotten man
On an old forgotten road.
Staggering and numb under the glare of the spotlight.
His eyes, so dull and grey,
Slide from right to left, to right,
Looking for his life, misplaced in a
Shallow muddy gutter long ago.
I am found, instead.
Seeking a hiding place, the night seals us together.
A transient spark lights his face, and in my honor,
He pulls out forgotten dignity from under his flaking coat,
And walks a straight line along the crooked world.
Even in high school, Barack was deep and thoughtful. "I am found instead" is quite profound. I believe he is found - by all of us and we are very lucky to have found him!
HERE'S MY ORIGINAL POST BACK IN FEBRUARY, 2007. WHAT WERE YOUR BLOGS AND INITIAL THOUGHTS ON BARACK? LET'S REPOST AND REMIND EACH OTHER HOW HE REACHED US AND HOW WE KNEW HE WAS "THE ONE"!
I have waited for this moment for years! Finally, a man who is trustworthy, honest and credible. Some say that Barrack does not have enough experience in Washington. This is nonsense! He is very analitical and has the ability to see solutions to our problems and I feel he will attempt to fix as many problems as possible.
After hearing Mr. Obama's speech in Springfield, Illinois, I had the same feeilngs as I did in the 60's when I heard JFK's inaugural speech or when Bobby Kennedy's spoke. After hearing so many promises from politicians of the past, this is truly a breath of fresh air. Everyone else pales in comparison to this "pure heart" of a gentlemen. This is what a real President should be . . . just in case any one really wondered since we haven't had a man of this caliber for decades!
My husband and I are right in the middle of every issue in existence. Health care and insurance, relatives in Iraq, paycheck to paycheck, wanting to send our child to college and we find ourselves close to poverty level. I was injured years ago and had to quit my job as a legal secretary after 30 years. It was quite a shock! And then to lose my health care was unimaginable. My husband is a hardworking laborer and has also worked for 30 years. We have checked into gap coverage, but it was too expensive on one paycheck. I truly believe that Mr. Obama will help people like us if he is elected. I hope that everyone votes for him because we need his guidance and leadership NOW!
Let's get some CLASS in the Whitehouse. It is sorely needed! Please vote for Barrack.
P.S. What a beautiful family to be placed in the Whitehouse . . . good luck to you all!
