Hello Everyone,
Today I made my first contribution to a political campaign, $25 to BO. I'm sure I'll donate again as issues come out and the next President needs our support.
I love some of the suggestions for ads. The one about PAC money for each candidate is particularly biting and true - "priceless" (and we'll have to give credit to MasterCard, right? no pun intended).
While I don't like the "scorched earth" attacks from HRC, it's getting a lot of press. I prefer the high road, but I believe BO needs to speak in more sound bites. We live in a sound bite world. HRC says one "wink, wink" and it gets played over and over. BO needs to do the same effectively. Furthermore, BO needs to stay on message during interviews and his stump speeches. When he speaks in terms defined by McCain (McSame) or HRC, then the battle of "controlling the terrain" is lost - read Sun Tzu's "The Art of War".
Anyway, my sound bite which I would love BO to use when speaking to the press corps on the plane or his next stump speech in MS, he should start a running joke line:
"Just because Hillary was married to Bill Clinton doesn't mean she can (insert punch line here)."
The one I would use which is for General Audiences would be:
"Just because Hillary was married to Bill Clinton doesn't mean she can play the saxophone."
A line like that will make everyone laugh, they'll get it, and others can have fun with it.
And 3 a.m.? 3 a.m.? If they get a call at the White House at 3 a.m., tell Hillary not to worry because it's going to be for Bill. Now BO can't say that, but we need someone like Jay Leno saying that. "It's 3 a.m. and the White House gets the call. The caller says... Hello, Hillary. Can I speak to Bill, please? (of course in a nice female, sultry voice)... Is that what we want in the White House?"
And is Hillary (or McCain) more qualified than BO to receive that call at 3 a.m. Heck she (nor he) didn't even get the call at 3 p.m. right (yes, I meant 3 P.M.). It was Sen. Bob Graham (BO misspoke when he said Jay Rockefeller but I saw that Factcheck caught that the substance was correct but got the name wrong) that voted against the Iraq War resolution after reading the NIE. Hillary had time to read it, deliberate, and decide. She didn't read it - didn't do her job. She got it wrong. What gives the American People the confidence that she'll get the 3 a.m. call right. Puh-lease.
The way HRC is behaving, I believe she thinks that her birthright or her dowry is being taken away from her. Imagine the conversation with Bill right now - "Bill, you said it would be easy. You said that all of the Superdelegates would come my way. You said that you'd make a few speeches and this would be over by Feb. 5th!" HRC sees this slipping away, what she's been waiting for all of this time, and she's lashing out.
Here's another sound bite which I heard someone deliver so that BO can SOUND like he's taking the high road. BO can say something like - "HRC can continue to use her negative campaign tactics but that's not the kind of campaign I run. I was given some good advice by a friendly gentleman [or gentlewoman] farmer - Don't wrestle a pig in the mud. Both of you are bound to get dirty and only one of you is happy." Of course, be prepared for colorful sayings from our former President. And he has to tell them, if HRC tries to tell one with her fake drawl it'll explode in her face.
WY, our eyes and ears are upon you. GOTV. And MS, our Hope-ful eyes also turn to you in a few days. Get those delegate counts back up, get the momentum back, keep jabbing asking for transparency, protect and serve our vets as they've served us, protect our children with health insurance [adults can choose for themselves, children cannot, that's why insurance for children is mandatory in BO's plan] and safe toys, create green jobs promote biofuels and renewable energy and make us independent from foreign sources and clean up the environment while we're at it, and don't forget to tell Pennsylvania to take everything that HRC says with a "grain of salt." ;-)
Thanks for letting me vent,
nelson
