So we won a huge victory. Time to rest on our laurels?
“Barack Obama is the one candidate with the unique ability to inspire people from all generations and all political parties to join his movement of change,” said Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown. “At this critical point in our nation’s history, Americans need a leader who will bring us together to bring about a new direction. Barack Obama has demonstrated his ability to unite people of all backgrounds—Independents, Democrats, and Republicans—to tackle the big problems of healthcare and the economy.”
Jenny Durkan, Edwards campaign chair in 2008 as well as 2004 in Washington, has endorsed Barack Obama.
Seattle Times: "'I truly believe the country needs a new direction and it needs it both on a political level and on a spiritual level,'" Durkan said. 'We need someone who can appeal to our better angels ... and I think he's the person best equipped to do that.'"
Eastern Washington was Obama country Friday night as over 100 supporters packed into our new Spokane office for its grand opening and to see Washington state campaign chair Rep. Adam Smith. With a crowd that spilled outside and people peering into the window, Adam explained just how pivotal Washington is going to be.
Seattle's oldest daily makes a strong endorsement of Barack Obama.
Seattle Post-Intelligencer: "Sen. Obama has emerged as an impressive, balanced thinker with a charismatic presence. His ability to address a wide range of ideas in nuanced yet deeply inspirational fashion could re-energize political discourse in a manner reminiscent of Franklin D. Roosevelt because Obama has the potential to lift us into a transformative era. Right now, too many Americans see their lives distorted by the misdirected post-9/11 age of secrecy, fear and division. Obama can help the country close that chapter."
This week Barack Obama has received an endorsement from The Seattle Times, Washington's highest circulation daily.
Seattle Times: "The Seattle Times endorses Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for president. He has the grasp, temperament and skills to right our standing in the world. He has broad insight and specific ideas to assuage our own hardworking citizens' fears of an economy turning sour."

What's the difference between the caucus and the primary?
In Washington, it's a huge difference. The Democratic Party will use the results of the February 9th precinct caucus to determine our presidential nominee, and NOT the primary. Like the Michigan and Florida primaries, Washington's February 19th primary is a so-called “beauty contest,” meaning that it will not help determine the Democratic nominee for President. Remember to caucus on Saturday, February 9th at 1pm.
This Sunday we had another great caucus training at our newly official Washington State Field Office here in Seattle. A capacity crowd of smart and eager Washington voters gathered to learn from State Director Chelsea Waliser, a Washingtonian who is also a seasoned vet of the Iowa and Nevada caucuses.
After some discussion of Washington's caucus rules we passed the sign-in sheet around and started a mock caucus. Since caucusing for presidential preference in this room would lead to a pretty brief caucus, we all chose our favorite cookies.
