I believe that if Obama were to cancel his campaign events for next week and announce that he is going to Washington D.C. to work on a bi-partisan solution to the economic crisis because the welfare of the people is more important that politics, he would win the election. He would win by demonstrsating his character in a crisis - i.e. solutions are more important than politics (yes we can). He wouldn't lose much campaign mojo and could walk into the debate next Friday having worked for people while MCain was working to get elected. Congress wil adjourn in a week anyways and he could get back on the trail having made a clear contrast to McSleaze.
If you think this is a good idea - pass it on and maybe he will hear it.
Whether the “surge” was a success or not is NOT the issue. Even if the surge was a success, it is small consolation to the THOUSANDS of brave American men and women who died before the surge because McCain pushed an unnecessary and disastrous war on the Country. Is McCain applying for the job of general or as a President who has to have the judgment to not to even start unnecessary wars?
How can the GOP claim that Obama puts “politics before Country” when he picks a V.P. who everybody recognizes as the most knowledgeable on foreign policy, and McCain chooses a person who even many Republicans say is not qualified (and didn’t even have a passport two years ago) but was chosen to “energizes the base”?
If Obama or McCain died the day after the election, who would be most ready to be President – Biden or Palin?
If questioning the credentials of Palin to be President the day after the election constitutes “sexism” as Republicans claim, why doesn’t the questioning Obama’s credentials constitute racism?
How does Palin feel about being on a ticket with a man who opposes equal pay for equal work for women?
If Palin is more qualified than Obama because she has had “executive experience” of being head of PTA, part-time Mayor and Governor, is she also more qualified than John McCain, since McCain has not had any executive experience in government either?
John McCain as a Navy officer was honorable, but what about John McCain as a politician? Keating Five Scandal? Approving of the torture of prisoners in violation of the Geneva Convention? Romantic relationship with a female lobbyist (his 2nd known extramarital affair)? Hiring the same people he called “assassins” and “scumbags” when he ran in 2000 to run his campaign in 2008?
What experience led McCain to believe that a war with Iraq would destroy al Qaeda in Afghanistan? Or that a war with Iran would benefit the Country now?
