You've all heard the sad stories about women who are abused by their husbands or boyfriends for years and yet stay or keep taking them back? Could this be what's happened to us? Has September 11, 2001 traumatized us so deeply that we are now caught up in some wierd and unhealthy pyschologically dependant relationship? A relationship with who? Well, it makes me wonder. September 11, 2001 has possibly irrevocably set us down a path of victimization and self loathing and destruction that may not be broken until it's far too late.
Senator Obama? Please find a way to get us to see the light. Not only are we facing two wars from without, but we are facing two wars from within. The first, is the Karl Rove brand of politics which has always been two steps ahead of our (the American people's) every move. I don't believe Sarah Palin was a hasty choice. It was a cold, calculated decision to send a non verbal message to "good people" and "working Americans" that we cannot let the brown people and the multicural hippies take over this country. I think when I hear stories about Bristol's boyfriend's myspace page stating that he's a proud to be a "f***ing redneck" and that "he doesn't want any children" I can't help but think of Lonelygirl15. She was the youtube sensation who started a video diary of her life and whom was later discovered to be an actress performing in a rather elaborate deception. Sarah Palin's narrative is a deception. Who she is and the reasons for all of the things she's done is a complete sham.
The deception is that she exists solely to control the narrative in the media. Sarah Palin is the anti-Obama. She is a symbol. That is her real purpose. That is the subliminal message that is being pumped into middle America right now. That is why all the talk about her position on various issues, her lack of qualifications and her hypcracy don't matter. The Republicans have turned this into a battle of old versus new by putting a new face on all of these old ideas and re-selling the "virtues" of them all over again.
The second war from within is the corporate media itself. We need to return to speaking truth to power and we need to get back to the fierce urgency of now and we need more than just that statement. We need to hear this urgency and we need to feel this urgency and we need a voice, your voice, speaking about all these inconvenient truths that we must not back away from.
Senator Obama? I really believe that we do need to get away somewhat from the issues. We all know about the issues. We need to do something completely unexpected. What? I think we need to go back to Septemeber 11th, 2001 and we need to go back to the mismanagment of Iraq and we need to go back to the theft of Iraqi reconstruction money and we need to go back to the lack of oversight and hearings and investigations by the Republican administration and we need to go back to George W Bush's lies and McCain's support of those lies and praise of Bush's leadership, and we need to back to the corporate medias failing us all, and we need to go back to the divide and conquer strategy that is being used to keep us from truely being one America again.
We need to talk less about health care and less about policies and more about how we got here and why. We need to convince America to quit taking back the abuser who is victimizing us.
