Educating and informing people can inspire, motivate and empower them by simply giving them information. I have begun to use every opportunity I get while out in my community to educate and inform people on Barack Obabma. I have I have even started coming back at telemarketers with the question, "Do you know who Barack Obama is?" That way, when they hear his name, they will pay attention. I will have planted the seed that may sprout curiosity. Well, that's my hope anyhow. ;)
So, until something more formal comes about, I am going to keep spreading the word.
As I sit and flip through the channels, I find myself bored with t.v., but hoping something catches my eye. To be honest, I am disgusted that day after day, whether it be morning, noon or night, I have been subjected to repeated showings of every picture of Anna Nicole Smith since she breathed the word "Hollywood." Do we really care America? I cannot believe that hours of our respected and educated journalists whom we look to to keep us well informed, are spent analyzing the death and circumstances surrounding this woman. She was Anna Nicole Smith, not Princess Diana!! I cannot believe that millions of dollars are invested in the interviews, videoconferencing, etc. with anyone and everyone crawling out of the woodwork (the family members, friends from 20 years ago, ex-boyfriends, forensic pathologists, attorneys, psychiatrists, etc.)...HELLO???Where is the same media attention for the laws that affect each and every one of us? Where is the media attention given to the state of the Supreme Court? Where is the intense probe into the environmental change? Instead, our fine journalists spend 1 hour shows including "exclusive" interviews with "Big Mo" (Anna Nicole's body guard) and the analysts analyzing the analysts!!! And don't get me started on the Judge!! Now we have to know all about him and talk to his friends and family and blah...blah...blah. Again, I ask, do we really care?
Whew, on that note, I thought about questions raised in a few of the groups regarding getting younger people to vote. I think somehow young people need to be impassioned in politics. The presentation needs to be refreshing instead of the old, stuffy, standards we have live by the past 50 years. Maybe an MTV Reality Show that follows a group of young early grassroots campaigners instead of a bunch of young, obnoxious and drunk hooches????
