We, as progressives, cannot permit the Republicans to define who Senator Obama is or is not.
Are we going to permit the politics of destruction prevail and fail America? Are we going to let the McCain's and Palin's define the direction of America? We cannot. We must not.
If McCain and Palin are elected, the USA will decline into a downward spiral that will take decades to reverse--if the spiral can be reversed. The Republicans have made it clear that they have nothing but contempt for community organizers. They made their position clear with the selection of Sarah Palin.
That's why it is time to fight for Obama. The Right has declared war on the patriotic principles of caring for the community. The Republicans are determined to preserve the status quo of record foreclosures and high unemployment. Is that what we want?
We must throw everything into the campaign!!!
Tell your friends and neighbors! We must elect Barack!!
Two days after Barack made his historic speech in Denver, I am still overcome with emotion.
August 28, 2008 was a great day for America. Like Senator Obama stated, our time is now.
I will do everything in my power to help elect Obama and Biden to become our next President and Vice President. I believe that America is ready for the change we need. We need to stop the decline of America due to Bush and Cheney. How much more can we afford to let our country fall into decline? How much more can we afford to let America become the target of terrorists and the laughingstock of the world community?
Obama and the movement will bring the change that we need NOW.
I told you so!!!!!
On September 17, 2007 I predicted that the much overhyped campaign of Hilary Clinton was about to fall. (See my Fall of Hillary Post).
Last night we wrote the tombstone for the politics of triangulation and shortsighted capitulation. Now the grass roots are rising high and strong.
The Senator won with the youth. He won with the independents. He won with the women.Last night he won with them all!
Last night, WE won. We won against the top-down lobbyist controlled machine of the Clinton campaign. We won against the tell you what you want to hear and hope you forget what we said politics of cynicism.
Now it is time build on the momentum. Barack demonstrated in fact what we always knew in faith.
Last night, began the politics of hope and change. Is America ready? We will prepare America! It does not matter whether you are a man or a woman.
It does not matter whether you are young or old. It does not matter if white or black; Asian or Latino; Native American or Arab American. It does matter if you Jew, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist.
What matters if you of the people and for the people. If you are of the people, the grass roots, Obama is for you. The story of change, the story of America, the story of Obama begins with the people.
The story began with late night chats, spirited debates in small towns and in the homes of the people. Last nights the people won in Iowa.
Now it is on to New Hampshire.
As some of the outlets of the declining general media annoint Hillary Clinton the de facto Democratic nominee, it is clear that the grass roots beg to differ. The one thing is clear, Hillary, in the abstract event of the poll taken by Gallup, is the leading candidate. But the answer to a poll is the same as the polls that the voters go to during the primary.
To be sure, Ms. Clinton knows how to campaign. But it is a myth to say that she is more experienced. Experience on the sidelines of your spouse is NOT the same as being in an elected office.
Obama served Obama worked as a community organizer, university lecturer, and civil rights lawyer BEFORE running for public office. He served in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004, BEFORE launching his campaign for U.S. Senate in 2003.
Now that is experience.
To be sure, Hillary can speak. But do people believe what she has to say?
That is why the much propped-up, overhyped, campaign of Hillary Clinton is about to fall.
Obama is the counterpoint to the politics of destruction advocated by Hillary Clinton. Obama wants to build up America. Obama is of, by, for, and with the people. Who will Hillary be for?
Her consistent support for the War In Iraq suggests that she is not for us.
It is clear to me that the hardcore right wing of the Republican party has a fear of Barack Obama. They understand that Obama is no Gephardt who will put on a good show for a while but then implode in the primaries. They know that he is no Al Sharpton who will raise some issues; provide some quotable one-liners; provide comic relief and ultimately go nowhere. The Republicans know that Obama is no Joe Lieberman who will pretend to be a Democrat. They understand that Obama will not waffle like a Kerry.
In other words, they fear that Obama can win.
Obama cannot be stereotyped a left-wing loonie. To be sure, people like Rush Limbaugh will lump him in with the people he calls crazies. But unlike Limbaugh, who represents the hate segment of the general population--the arm pit of America-- Obama appeals to those who love America.
Those who love America want an America where all its citizens can live their dreams. The America of Obama is that kind of America.
The right fear that kind of America.
When we look at Obama, we see hope. The right wing look at Obama. They see what we see. And they hate the view.
Barack Obama is the antidote to the politics of destruction. For the first time, people of my generation have someone we can look forward to. I am impressed by a politician who has the courage of his convictions. Senator Obama was a community organizer that taught skeptics that the poor, the minority, and the black can mobilize the community, speak truth to power, and have power respond with respect. The man who has the audacity to hope is counting on the people to have the audacity to vote.
Progressives everywhere are counting on the Obama campaign to sway the American people in the right direction. I think that Obama will turn America around.
