Seriously, one of the easiest ways to stop people from participating online is to send them 10 emails a day. Post to the blog, fine. But stop sending emails. It's only going to piss people off.

It was quite an impressive event, considering the group Obama4NYC formed less than a week before it happened. More than 100 people showed up on a Friday night at a decent-sized space for some drinks, an Obama video and a lot of discussion about the campaign.
