Why? Because she didn't effectively enhance McCain's message in any way. Biden on the other hand boosted Barack and clearly laid out the differences and contrasts between he and John McCain. Palin needed to be a game changer for the McCain campaign since the economy is going south. Biden was gaffe proof which I know from talking to many GOP friends of mine has them extremely disappointed that Palin's attacks didn't stick or ruffle his feathers more. Biden was calm, upbeat, smiled and never let anything Palin said get under his skin. Behind close doors the GOP desperately wanted Biden to blow up or say something sexist. He did neither.
I would also add that another thing that is going unreported that really hurt Palin last night is how on the gay issue she came off looking like she shared the same views as Obama/Biden.
This hurt her BADLY with many religious conservatives.
Also- These debates only matter so much at this point. And I include Barack's debate with McCain in that mix regardless of whether the media thought we won or not. The fact is Barack is going to win this election because he has forced McCain into a box that he will never get out of. We're watching in many respects a repeat of much of what happened in the primary with Hillary. Hillary started her campaign running as the experienced candidate. Barack ran as an agent of change. Barack was so effective that Hillary was forced to adopt a change motto of her own. The same thing is happening with McCain and it is one of the only reasons he picked Palin as his VP. But Barack is doing something similar strategy wise to what he did in the primary against Hillary. In the primary he went after the delegates. In the general he is creating such a broad electoral map (a strategy that has never been tried before) that it is becoming increasingly difficult for McCain to keep up. By making so many red states competitive Barack has backed McCain into a corner. Most elections the GOP focuses on one or two states where they would like to cheat or manipulate the results. Republicans for years now have painted the Democratic party as a kind of socialist, communist, anti-American cabal hellbent on turning this country over to our enemies at the drop of a dime. They portray liberals as god-hating, Marxist, hippie, deviants who control the mainstream media.
Pundits like Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams, Sean Hannity and Chris Matthews have routinely thrown McCain's POW experience in our face as if it were an absolution for every mistake he's made in his long political career in Washington.

Can someone tell me how people like Todd can get away with pushing this idea that only black people are voting for Obama?
Practically every single video of footage I have seen at various Obama rallies has seas of white supporters behind him.

...Last I checked Iowa is predominately white. And that is how this whole thing got started in the first place.

This Diebold/voter fraud debate isn't going to go away anytime soon.
Unfortunately I predict it will happen again in SC.
That doesn't mean that everyone should give up and stop doing what they're doing (i.e. canvassing, making phone calls, getting the word out about Barack etc...).
But all of us need to do everything we can to put pressure on Barack, Axelrod, Plouffe and THIS campaign to speak with Howard Dean/The DNC, legal counsel etc...To make sure that everything from here on out is completely above board.
I think Barack can win Nevada as long as we can get enough of our campaign supporters out to caucus on Sat.
I feel confident that we'll have a win there like the one in Iowa (unless something goes seriously wrong where this lawsuit from the teacher's union is concerned). And we will need our win there to more effectively make our case for what may arise later.
BUT...After Nevada it is going to be very important that we make sure that SC only uses paper ballots.
I'm a realistic and practical person.
So, seeing as it is highly unlikely that the campaign will do anything about this before then I would like to urge all of you to do something for me:
Contact the campaign (by phone, email etc...) and tell them that if they have any major endorsements lined up that they are saving for a rainy day (i.e. Al Gore) that after SC would be the time to bring him out into the open.
My wife's theory (when we discussed this last night) was that if they felt comfortable unveiling Sen. John Kerry as early as they did before Super Tuesday that they probably have another heavy hitter endorsement currently waiting in the wings to be used further down the road at a more strategically advantageous time in the race.
ATTN: CAMPAIGN!
If you have Gore in your corner then he should be Barack's surrogate to deal with this voter fraud issue based on what happened to him against Bush in 2000.
Gore has enormous credibility and he would force the media to listen and begin an investigation.

The reason there are so many undecided voters in this race is because they don't feel they know where all of the candidates stand.
And the fact is when any of us/you who are canvassing, making phone calls, raising money or trying to win people over to this campaign using Barack's record and message they/we are almost always asked the same questions:
"What makes Barack better, more qualified than any of the other people running?"
And the hardest people I have found to convince that Barack is the right candidate are Democrats who feel that Edwards and Hillary "wouldn't be that bad."
And then there's this other question I am asked REPEATEDLY:
"What is wrong with Hillary or John Edwards? Why not them?"
They have already heard everything they want to hear about Barack.
They like him and respect his views on many issues.
But It is now for better or worse a question of why the others are WRONG for the majority of them and not what makes Barack the best candidate for the job.
There are too many democrats (even supporters of Barack) who feel whatever the Dem option is won't be bad for the country and that is simply not true.
Everyone in the campaign needs to start dealing with the other Democratic candidate's voting records.
Votes are facts.
They are Not negative attacks.
They are Not rumors.
They are Not gossip.
They are Not heresay or mudslinging.
They are very real...
...And they effect all of us if they are made unwisely and with poor judgment.
The only way we are going to effectively show sharp differences and contrasts between the other candidates is to begin dealing with how each of the candidates have voted in the past.
That is how we will win more people over.
