Tonight's the night and I am so nervous I can't concentrate on anything but the Iowa Caucus. So I thought I'd write down my thoughts and post them to put some of the nervous energy to use.
Barack Obama has shown that he is the deifinitive agent of change with the best interest of the American people as his first priority. His character, intelligence, wisdom and inner-strength have shown him to be the best candidate for the presidency in these last ten months. No matter what the outcome tonight, Barack will go on to be a major contender for the Democratic party nomination and I believe the American people will be behind him.
Let's keep hope alive, keep believing and remember, together the American people with Barack Obama to lead us can change the world!
There are just two weeks left before the Iowa Caucus and we have to throw Christmas and New Year's in the middle to boot! That leaves only 10 days maximum for campaigning. We need to each do what we can to help Iowans to support Obama.
Maybe you are able to be in Iowa between now and then. Perhaps you are in a position to donate to the campaign, or you can give an hour or two to phone calls. But whatever you can do, please take the initiative and do it.
At your family holiday gatherings try to inform them about Barack. Take care to respect other opinions but you may just want to have some of the policiy positions from the website handy. Remember, you don't want to start any political family feuds! But if others are curious or interested, seize your opportunity to grow the movement with friends and family.
I wish everyone a Blessed and Happy Holiday season. Remember to Keep Hope Alive!
Peace,
Mary Kay McVey Christian
Happy Thanksgiving to all! I want to take this opportunity to say thanks to all the great people I've met working to help Barack Obama's campaign. You are all an inspiration and source of hope to me. Let's all take some time this year to count our blessings. I count the whole Obama family, the staff and volunteers as true blessings for me and for our country and for the future of the human family. I'm sure you do too. Let's get ready in these next several weeks to continue to Change The World!
Blessings,
St. Louis, MO
Please vote as soon as possible in this DFA poll. Currently Barack is in second place. I'm sick of second place
Thanks!

O.K. I know this may be a really goofy idea and a real long shot. But I was thinking maybe if many of us wrote to Oprah inviting her to the St. Louis rally on October 26 maybe she would consider coming. Her schedule may be packed. But if it isn't by some chance, she could get from Chicago to Union Station in an hour with a chartered flight. The media exposure she could give to the campaign in St. Louis and across the country could be awesome! Maybe with her presence and a quick intro for Obama, the news media would finally pick up coverage of one of these incredible rallies. It's time the rest of the country got to know and love Barack Obama like we do, and we need mainstream coverage within what seems to be a shorter and shorter time-frame.
With enough people inviting and encouraging her from St. Louis, maybe she would be impressed with our enthusiasm and persistence. Do you think it's worth a try? If so, e-mail her at Oprah.com or if anyone has a better way to communicate with her, let me know.
IT'S SO CRAZY IT JUST MIGHT WORK!!!
This weekend was a great experience in St. Louis at the Shaw Neighborhood Art Fair. The weather was beautiful (O.K. maybe a bit warm) and the St. Louis Obama volunteers showed up in force at the home of Thom Gross to rally support for Obama.
The response was fantastic! From late Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon we had hundreds of people sign our volunteer sheets. Obama stickers were seen everywhere throughout the Art Fair and I can tell you, here in the city of St. Louis people are Fired Up! about Obama. This neighborhood, family oriented event was a great place to spread the word. It was fantastic to see children on scooters roll down the street as well as people of all ages, and backgrounds wearing their Obama stickers and buttons!
I went home feeling so lucky to have met so many other great Obama volunteers and feeling that we made a difference in spreading the message of HOPE for America and helping so many others to get to know Barack Obama a little better.
Thanks to all who participated! Thanks to Dianne for organizing this great event. Thanks especially to Thom Gross and his family who offered their home and hospitality as our "home base" for the event.
I have been reading many blog posts that are concerned and convinced that we need to give direction and advice to Barack Obama's campaign staff. I am touched by the fervor and ferocity of loyalty on these posts.
However, I think we need to let the professionals do their work and support them by our participation in campaign volunteer opportunities. We can each do our part in spreading the word in our local communities and by being positive voices for change in the upcoming months. I know that I can use an immense amount of energy as an arm-chair quarterback, but in the end those calls aren't mine to make.
I trust the direction that Sen. Obama's campaign staff will take this movement. And I am committed to personally assisting in the areas I am asked, responding to MSM posts voicing my support, asking the MSM to report Obama information without spin and bias and leaving the rest to the professionals. What Sen. Obama should or shouldn't say or do is his decision. He alone knows what he needs to do to be true to himself and his convictions.
These coming months are going to be challenging, at times frustrating, and even on some days perhaps disappointing, when others don't see the possibilities for a better future that Sen. Obama can offer. But if we spend our time, talent and treasure on negative energy we will only draw more negativity to ourselves and to the Obama campaign.
Keep the faith! Stay fired-up! And never, never give up hope in the capacity of the American people to be with us in the end!
Think about this, even if the polls are accurate, (which I don't even believe they can be) Sen Obama is the candidate who will pick up all the numbers of voters of those who will decide to withdraw from the race. Somehow the lightbulb finally went on for me as I looked at the list of candidates and realized that virtually every person voting for someone besides Mrs. Clinton far outnumbers those voting for her.
Now I think it isn't a stretch to say those supporting candidates other than Hillary are doing so because they strongly disagree or dislike her as a presidential candidate. It is highly unlikely once the field narrows that these voters will embrace HRC over Sen. Obama.
And being a Midwesterner, I know that Iowans can't be that different from Democrats in my area who are not buying the Mrs./Mr. Clinton spin. Iowans are smart, informed voters with their feet on the ground. New York and Beltway pundits really don't have a clue about what is going on outside the Beltway.
I 'm more fired up than ever and ready to go!! On to Iowa!
Don't miss this opportunity to voice your opposition to the war in Iraq along with Sen. Obama. "Call the neighbors, wake the kids!" Tell everyone you know who is committed to peace so they can hear Barack Obama's wisdom regarding our irresponsible march to war.
St. Louisans need to find our collective voice to end the war that is putting our brave soldiers in jeopardy every day without any clear objective to be attained.

I'll meet you there tomorrow in Forest Park at the Wold's Fair Pavilion at 6:00 p.m. I'll be the one wearing an Obama button! (kidding)

It's True! One picture is worth a thousand words. Today's NY Times has a photo over the headline "Clinton Holds Edge as Rivals Get Tougher." I count about 10 Obama supporters, 1 Edwards and 1-2 Hillary supporters. The article then begins by saying that Hillary Clinton has further solidified her lead.
If that is how the NY Times depicts "holding an edge," I'd hate to see what fally behind looks llike.
Check it out!
