I am interested in promoting a new WPA that will help to employ artists in all areas of infrastructure restoration activities that are part of the economic renewal program of the Obama administration. I am especially interested in promoting ecological art in this regard.
Obama Arts Advisors? Comments from Florida-based South Florida Environemntal Art Project, Inc. Founder

Who are the key advisors to Barack Obama in the arts arena? I have seen his position on the arts and it is fine as far as it goes. I suggest that there should be serious consideration to engaging artists in a new WPA, as was done by President Roosevelt during the Great Depression. Artists are a vital national and global resource and should be engaged at all levels of the economic recovery efforts, especially environmentally sustainable infrastructure restoration. environmental amelioration, and green community development. Who is advising Barack now, and who is coming on board to work on appointments and policy development for the arts in his new administration? I hope someone from the campaign is listening. It is important to mainstream art into all agencies, especially those involved in housing and community development, transportation and environmental resources and not only within the traditional agencies like NEA and NEH.
