Everyone should be aware that home foreclosures cannot stop you from voting. But they need an address in order to vote. Even if they are homeless, their address is wherever they spend their time.

Unpaid Child Support and Unpaid Parking Tickets

Listening to TV, I was told that people who owe outstanding child support and unpaid parking tickets are being told they cannot vote in certain states. I am not aware of any problem in NC but there might be problems in other states. Has anyone heard of this tactic to keep people from voting and what are they doing about it. The commentator stated no bills (paid or Unpaid) should stop you from voting. Pass it on.

Standing in line when the polls are closing

You have a right to still vote if you are standing in line when the poll close. Do not be turned away. It is your right to complete the election process but you must be standing in line at the time the polls close: 7:30 pm or 8:00 pm depending on your location. You can aviod this by voting early.:)

Do Not Call List and does it apply to political calls?

I am calling people to encourage them to vote early in NC and they are complaining about I am on the DNC list and do not want any future calls.. I tried to explain that "I am not trying to sell you anything " and the DNC regulations does not apply. Help! what are the restrcitions of calling someone who is on the DNC list. I certain do not have the list or any idea about whom is on the list. Anyone?

Deceased person still on ballot

Recently we lost a good person who was running in Mecklenburg County. She will be missed but the thing I read about was that she can still remain on the ballot and people can still vote for her. If she wins, I replacement will be appointed. I guess it to late to erase her name. Good luck in your state.

Cannot read, cannot write and blind and still vote

I just read that if you cannot read, cannot write, blind or disable you can get special assistance at the poll from officials to cast your vote I thought one need to at least be able to read. I can understand about the disable but what about the blind. Do they have special equipment for them? What's to ensure they are voting for themselves and not being influenced by poll officials?

108 year old voter still listed on roll

I was making calls to African American voters in Minnesota and would you believe their age was listed at 108 years of age. I thought it was a error at first but they kept poping up over 50 voters. Do they cross reference the voter registration with state death certificates? Has anyone had this problem and what are you recommending? Can you believe?

College students can declare 1 of 2 addresses to vote

College students have the option to register in their old hometown and vote or vote in their new hometown where their college is located. College students can still vote even if living on campus. Where do they go everyday, mostly to their home "dorm'. The only problem i see is duplication of voting. Is there a system in place to prevent college students from voting in more then one location/state?

Wearing candiates shirts to the poll

I received e-mail about the problems people will have at the poll if they wear candiate shirts and that they are not allowed to talk about candiates, etc. The polling place has the option to ask them to leave. Has anyone have this problem in their area? What can be done to ensure people wearing the shirts have their right to vote?

Not voting because of religious believe

I was out canvassing yesterday and knock on a voter's door. He told me he was not voting because he was a Jehovah Witness and his religion would not allow him to vote. Has anyone hear of voters not voting for religious beliefs and how voting conflicts with bibical principles. Like obeying the law.

Homeless people can register to vote. People with felonies can register to vote provide their citizenship has been restored. Hispanics must be citizens.

Voter's Feedback

Most people I have encountered on my Voter Regristration Drive for Change have already been register. How true??? Other seem to think that by voting in the primary that it was the final vote but I keep telling them that have 1 more time to vote- the general election. I live in the Charlotte which is the Southern part of United States , I think most people maybe already register and that what I am doing is a waste of time. What do you think? Today my location was a Taste of Charlotte which had a mix population with a large crowd with temp close to 100. Brawny did supply me with paper towels to wipe off the sweat. I did manage to register 10 people.:)

First Day of Registering Voters

Obama has finally won the nomination for President. I decided to help register more voter for the up and coming general election. I was shown how to complete the form and collect necessary information. Bravely I went out by myself to register voters. Everything was going great and the location I decided was the Charlotte Authority Transit center. After about an hour of working, I was stop by a security guard who stated that I need a permit to collect voter registration infomration on city property and that his boss was on the premises. I did not know how true it was but I decided to leave and not cause any problems. Has anyone encountered this problem before and how did you handle the situation. Also is registering voters considered solication?
