Dreaming of living in a UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Respect

When I first became aware of a person named Barack Obama, I thought to myself that this guy could possibly gain my respect. I was at the time a Hillary Clinton supporter and even though she had not announced yet to run for the presidency of the US, I was sure she would and I couldn't imagine a better campaign or leaders for that matter for my country than a strong woman as President and an African American man as Vice President.
Looking back now, I am amused at how fast I changed my mind and support for who I would like to see as the President of the United States of America. In researching and reading up on Obama, I quickly gained more respect for him, his wife Michelle, his family and his campaign staff.
Barack Obama's campaign has been the single most political campaign that I have been aware of in my lifetime that has maintained integrity, has stayed on message, has never failed to rise above the smears and usual tactics so often seen in politics. The message of hope and change are still the foundation of the campaign. Integrity is still shown throughout a solid and powerful machine that has grown enormously and continues to grow with each day.
Along with the growth of the campaign, so has my respect for Barack Obama. The enormity of how deep and wide that respect is hit me as Barack left the campaign trail to go home to his grandmother so close to election day. When I first saw the pictures of Barack taking a solitary walk in the neighborhood where he grew up I was angry that he could not have had the deserved privacy that such a situation calls for. I am still very angry about that, but I am also profoundly touched that this man has; even with all of the "celebrity" and notoriety maintained his core values and proven once again that he is above all a man of honor and dignity and integrity and has the heart and temperament to keep his priorities straight. Thank you Toot for all of the sacrifices that you made to raise up such a fine grandson, for giving America, the person to inspire us and remind us what America really is all about. Thank you Barack, Michelle, Sasha and Malia for your sacrifices and for all of your hard work. Somehow, "thank you" seems so shallow and meaningless compared to what you all have done for us.
I have never in my 49 years had so much respect for a single human being as I have for Barack Obama. I am honored to have been what little a part I have contributed to help with your campaign. I will forever be grateful for what I have gained from this experience.

United and it feels so good!

I just wanted to share a little about the Unite For Change event we had in Alabama this past Saturday.
Although the turnout was not as many as I expected, those that showed were FIRED UP and are ready to go!
There are two or three other events in the works and after the conversation and food was over, the musicians cranked up and we BaROCKED the house until almost 3 a.m.

Unity In Birmingham Event

Please join me on June 28th for a house party event to UNITE FOR CHANGE in Birmingham. The event is posted on my page. All are welcome.

This will be a very casual event to hopefully bring some folks together to discuss ideas about what we can do to effect the change in our area and do our part to help get our beloved country back on the right track.

There is indeed a fierce urgency of NOW.

Come out and have a little serious fun, meet others, share ideas, stay awhile for a little food and music. (If you are a musician...bring your instrument and jam).
