90% Bush McCain does it again! and in a big way! As if the Katrina disaster and complete ineptness in nation-building in Iraq due primarily to choosing young, political operatives over proven experts time and again did not teach everyone the huge costs, here we have McCain, at 72! picking a completely unready VP! Palin has never had any interest in national politics, had no idea last month what a VP actually even does, and thinks the Iraq war is a success since there has not been another 9-11 attack. With a down's syndrome baby - most women are well-aware of the dangers of having children after 40 (she's 44) - and four other children, she would definitely have a lot else on her mind. Barack has been grooming his mind from childhood to lead (4:30AM tutoring with his mom, constitutional law teaching, working in the worst slums, well-written race and policy books, 8 years in one of the hardest state houses, having a real impact on national policy and even foreign policy in almost 4 years now as a senator, and inspiring a generation with his speeches to unite). Palin is completely parochial - saying she would only consider the VP for what it would have in it for Alaska - but what do you expect from councilwoman/mayor of city of 5000! While claiming ethics reform, Palin suspended and then fired former commissioner of the Department of Public Safety Walt Monegan because he refused to fire Trooper Mike Wooten, who divorced Palin's sister with whom he has had ongoing child custody battles, and because he was going to publish a report on troopers that might have shown the administration to be incompetent. She loves guns, pro-life, and all the other Republican litmus tests, so what matter she has not a single national policy, much less foreign policy, bone in her body? McCain with this pick proves that his "maverick" label is nothing more than a glimpse at his dangerous unpredictableness and Bush-like gut reactions rather than Obama very careful, painstaking, circumspect grasp of every issue and threat. Remember McCain is the same guy that wants Russia to leave the G8 and sillily supports Georgia, the aggressor in a dangerous way, with no worry on how close he gets to WWIII. Now with Palin in tow - too old and too young bookends in the worse sense of each - the race has suddenly become very VERY scary. Can we afford to let the Atwater - Rove - Steve Schmidt (the bullet) political machine dupe the America public once again in their long and increasingly powerful legacy? Can we help the average American see the dangers - and wake up - instead? We're counting more than ever on you Obama folks - and ourselves - to ALL take action. THANK YOU!
