Hello Everyone,
Like many Americans today, I was turned off to the whole political scene because I felt that our political system was broken and that underhanded deeds and say-and-do-anything politics were rewarded and the good people were scorned punished. And like most Americans, I inherently distrusted politicians.
But one lazy summer day, while flipping through tv channels, I caught the beginning of a speech that would reignite my hope for a better political system and a better world. Yes, the speaker was eloquent, but that wasn't what drew me to his message. It was the genuine words he spoke. They touched on all the frustrations I had felt about how divided America has been. He spoke of a better world where instead of focusing on the minute differences we each had to divide us, Americans recognized those differences as strengths and worked together towards our common values and goals. I was awe struck but the words Barack Obama spoke that day. I wondered, could this person be real? Would he be our chance of fixing a broken political system and returning fair and objective leadership to Washington?... Four long years later, Barack declared his candidacy and Aemricans have a chance to fight back against the politics fear and smear and take back our country from those who have used and abused our trust.
And that's why I'm writing this. I have a GREAT idea to counter the republican's fear and smear campaigns. Let's tap into the deep frustration Americans are feeling about the being misled into an unjustified war, being told that off-shore drilling and nuclear plants are the only viable energy options and being manipulated by 'swift-boating' tactics (painting candidates as 'Unamerican' or Elitist) and start an full-out media campaign against republicans titled, 'Misleading Americans is UnAmerican!".
So where do we start? Well, it all starts with us. Please take 10-15 minutes to jot down all the instances you can think of when the Republican Party (and some dishonest Democrats) have misled you and email them to me. I'll put together some videos for youtube and send our list to the DNC to help them focus their advertisements. I'll also share the lists with each of you so you too can be part of the anti-smear and fear campaign.
Together, we can overcome the politics of smear and fear! Thank you!
