Girls just want to have fun ... ... That was the last thing I remember hearing on my radio ... I had it in sleep mode as I dozed off. I just love Cyndi Lauper ... she is so uninhibited. You know ... I'm having fun. This is so much fun ...
"Obama ... Obama ... Obama ... Obama" People were chanting and screaming as far as I could see in every direction. I felt so confused and distraught. I began to panic, pushing my way through the crowd. "I need some air." I screamed out loud but noone seemed to hear me. Suddenly I saw what looked like a sailboat. I pushed my way over to it and the next thing I knew I was standing next to a river. A man at a podium continued to speak. "Where am I?!" I screamed out again. "Hello ma'am!" A young lady said, staring me in the face. "Where am I?" The lady looked me in the eyes, and with an astonished look, said, "I am sure you realize this is Portland Oregon and we are standing here on the bank of the Willamette River listening to the greatest uniter in the history of this nation! Look up there, the next President of the United States!!!"
I stared in disbelief at the man standing behind the podium. My memory started coming back to me. It's Barack Obama! The chants began ringing through my head, "OBAMA ... OBAMA ... OBAMA" I couldn't take it and placed my hands upon my ears. Tears began to flow down my face. The young lady looked at me and said, "What's wrong, ma'am? This is a joyous moment! You should be so happy. Please don't be sad!"
I began to scream at the top of my lungs, "NO ... It's MY TURN!!! I AM SUPPOSED TO BE PRESIDENT!!!" To my shock, the entire crowd went quiet. You could hear a pin drop. I looked around me ... 160,000 eyeballs focused on me! "I will work SO hard for you! PLEASE! Make ME the President!" Not a peep out of the crowd ... they stared me down ... and then suddenly ...
"It's HILLARY! GET HER!!!" They grabbed me and placed me in a cage and hoisted it upon the stand beside the podium. I grabbed ahold of the bars but I could not free myself. I looked around but I could no longer see Barack Obama ... just 80,000 angry people, chanting ... "KILL ... KILL ... KILL"
Suddenly the crowd stopped chanting and they began to cheer, their fists waving and thrusting into the air ... the sound again deafening ... "OBAMA ... OBAMA" I looked behind me only to see Barack Obama step up on the stand and to the podium.
Barack Obama speaks, "Did I not preach Unity? Did I not tell you, WE THE PEOPLE will bring this nation together?" The crowd roared with approval. Barack Obama held his arms out to quiet them. Obama spoke, "Look here, at this woman." I stood there, teary eyed and staring at Obama and out upon the thousands of people. I prayed to myself for forgiveness.
Obama stepped over to the cage and opened the door. He held out his arms and hugged me. I completely let loose and started balling my eyes out. "I am so sorry I ever doubted you! I will support you until the end of time!" The crowd again roared with approval and Obama stepped back to the podium with Hillary at his side.
"We will all work together, ALL OF US!"
As I woke from my horrible nightmare, I realized so much. I sat up in bed and pondered. "You know, I think it's time. It's time to lay down the sword and stand by the side of the best candidate to unify this great nation of ours ..."

Perhaps many of you are not into sports, but have you ever watched a great athlete in action, at his or her peak? Textbooks call it the ‘out of body’ experience. The athlete is so focused on the task at hand that he is literally unaware of his surroundings (outside of the game at hand). It’s like he already knows the moves of his opponent. It’s almost like he can read minds and leap or jump beyond the abilities of a normal human being ... and gracefully, like it takes no effort at all. Everything clicks. Everything flows. It took many years of muscle repetition, many years of studying the game, many years of training the mind. The head game every bit as important as the physical game. Many athletes spend their entire lives only dreaming of this ability. They work hard all their lives until at some point their abilities begin to fade ... how depressing ... never being able to reach the ultimate plateau. Never becoming the professional they dreamed of. How many of us, while watching a professional athlete on TV, really sit there and think; for every one that makes it, there are countless thousands that have tried and tried. They spent the better part of their life as a slave to the sport; to the dream, only to fail. They remain poor financially, but what’s so depressing to them is not the money, but the failure to reach the dream. It creates a sick feeling in the pit of their gut ... one that never goes away.
Mr. Barack Obama has a gift for leading the people of this country. Like a professional athlete at the peak of his career, I believe Barack Obama can achieve a similar state, one like the athlete achieving the ‘out of body’ experience. Not thousands but millions of people supporting him and backing his every move. Other nations across the world watching with starry eyes and saying, “Wow ... what an amazing leader the United States of America has! He utilizes his great speaking skills to build camaraderie with other nations, like never before. More and more the people of the United States realize not only have they made the right decision, they have made the ONLY DECISION! Destiny! The same feeling of a great athlete performing at his or her peak ...

Working the evening shift, upon arriving home I flipped on the TV. It was 1:15 a.m. Arizona time, and I searched my satellite stations for something on Barack Obama. "I guess if there's nothing bad to say, they're going to say nothing at all." I said this to myself as I finally reached C-SPAN. There was John Lewis, being interviewed by someone. Here is a link to what I think I was watching at the time:
http://inside.c-spanarchives.org:8080/cspan/cspan.csp?command=dprogram&record=558544547
They were clearly talking about faith and/or religion and it had nothing at all to do with Obama, but I listened in. "This is clearly a good man." I thought to myself, as he began to take questions from the audience. John Lewis often quoted Martin Luther King, as Obama sometimes does. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a man asked John Lewis if he felt Mr. Obama could take our country to the next level regarding our problems with race. John Lewis hesitated. I do not have the quote, but it went something like this:
"Do you realize what you have just done to me? You are putting me on the spot. You are putting me on the hot seat. That's ok, because I can handle being on the hot seat and I will answer your question. If Barack Obama becomes the nominee, he will become President of the United States. I can feel this in my gut. I believe he will not only bring this nation to a level it has never been before, he (and this country) will set an example for the entire world."
The above is not verbatim (that is my disclaimer) but it is close. The way he said it drew a loud applause from the crowd and believe me, it was not that type of meeting. The place was pretty quiet up until that point.
If you would like to comment, please do so, otherwise this blog was just to let you know how I feel, not just about Obama, but about John Lewis. If you would like to donate to Obama's campaign through my fundraising page, please do so, we all sincerely appreciate it. Click the link below ...
Hi. I would just like to write a paragraph (or three) about an observation. As I speak to Obama suppporters on this site and in person at work and in everyday life, I have come to notice something about them. I use the term 'typical' here, to mean average. There are exceptions to everything. I have come to realize that with a reasonable amount of explaining, I can overcome a disagreement with them rather quickly. I have come to realize the typical Obama supporter is willing to dig a bit deeper to get to the root of a problem. An Obama supporter has the mental capacity to analyze a situation or topic and develop a solution. This person also realizes the possibility that their solution may not be the best one. In other words, we are willing to work together as a team to arrive at the most effective solution to a problem. Most of us are not cold hearted people. We care about others and want what is best for them, not just for ourselves. While we may be a bit more emotional than the average American, we are also intellectual. We like to think about what we do and what we say ...
On the other hand, it is often easy to pick out an anti-Obama person without even mentioning politics. They are often irritable and even at times irrational. They often refuse to reason with others. It's basically their way or the highway. If you disagree with them, they will argue to no end. They are not effective team players whether it be in the workplace, playing a game, or in sports. They often lack a mental capacity or a desire to dig deep to analyze a problem.
It's kind of funny in a way; I have been able to tell whether a person would prefer Hillary, Obama, or perhaps McCain, just by utilizing the method described above. It has been correct more often than not.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Thx.
Leonard
Hi. I had an idea and just thought I would pass it on. Perhaps someone with the time could take it and run with it. It would take some work ...
How about a "no holds barred" site where Obama supporters could openly debate with Hillary supporters on specific issues. For example, there would be an "Economy" section. Anything stated would have to include references in order to be valid. You argue with your opponent on Economic issues and state what Obama would do, for example, and state where you obtained the information. Someone would have to be monitoring. There would have to be other rules, not to mention rules for signing up. I would even be willing to pay a small fee for signing up. It would be very educational to see what the best debaters could come up with.
There could even be a section for "no holds barred mud slinging" ... just back up your statements. Hillary would get buried alive on that one, I believe.
A site like this could be for real and be quite awesome. Not to take anyone away from Barack Obamas site, of course. I did not mean that in any way. In fact, perhaps the monitor of this site could add something like this (minus the mud slinging, of course, and also keep it clean). Hey, just a thought and it would force people to hunt the internet and find information on the candidates (something most of us do anyway).
Well, leave a comment if you like. Maybe a bad idea, maybe a good idea, just though I'd mention it.
I work evenings, so I taped CNN to watch Mr. Obama this morning. Not that it matters, but I am white. I have seen racism and hatred, plenty of it, throughout my lifetime, on the streets just outside Chicago.
As a child I once stood by while three of my friends beat up a black boy until his face was bloody. They spit on his face and called him the 'n' word repeatedly. The boy was not incapacitated, he got up and ran home crying. I am ashamed to admit that I was nothing more than a wimpy little kid that couldn't stand up for himself, let alone for someone else.
As I grew up I exercised and made myself stronger to change my image, the image I so hated. My friends mellowed out as they grew up. They changed, too. In time, I found new friends as so many of us do. We all change over time, we evolve in a sense. I think we have all had hatred at some point in our past that we now regret ever existed. I think we have all hated someone for the wrong reasons at some point in our past.
If you are white and old enough to remember, tell me you didn't have friends that used the 'n' word repeatedly and vicously. I have seen girls AND boys beat up on one of 'them' for no reason other than race. Not once did this skinny little kid step across the line to stand up for them. Do you know how I feel? Do you think I have hatred toward Mr. Wright? Today I would step across the line for Mr. Wright or any other human being that wants my help. I would do that because of my past, because of what I didn't do when I had the chance. Mr. Wright is not a bad person, no worse than my 3 friends, or any other child I saw picking a fight for no apparent reason. He may even be the kid they beat up.
If you were beat up for no reason by blacks, would you not scream racist remarks any chance you got? If you were raped by a gang of blacks, would you not be racist today? If your close friends beat up on a black child in a society where it was commonplace at the time, would you disown them? Or would you talk to them and try to help them change ... I did. If you are devout Catholic and a Catholic Priest molested a small boy, would you disown the Catholic Church? Perhaps some did ... millions have not. DO WE NOT HAVE THE TENDENCY TO TURN THE OTHER CHEEK WHEN SOMEONE CLOSE TO US DOES SOMETHING WE DO NOT APPROVE OF? We rarely, if ever, disown them. If we did, none of us would have any friends because most of us have done something that others do not approve of. We would all be a bunch of loners wandering around by ourselves...
I am ashamed and I don't know why ... but I sat there this morning watching Mr. Obama speak, and crying. I can't change my mistakes. I believe this man can make this a better country, a better place to live, and a more united place. The very people that keep pressing the Mr. Wright issue, or the race issue in general, are the reason Mr. Obama would NOT make a good President. He would not make a good President if there are more of them than there are of us. Many people on this site are like me, in that we want to forgive and forget; we want to love and be loved. We want to help someone regardless of race, when they are in need. Are there enough of us out there to make the rest of them realize that we need this?
If you would like to donate on my behalf, please do so. I just want to help in any way I can. Do not hate those who hate Mr. Obama. I know we have a tendency to get angry and call them names (I've done it myself). Work with them; convince them. If it seems hopeless then move on to someone else, but don't give up. Mr. Barack Obama is important to us. He is important to our nation. I believe he is important to the future of this world.
Finally, I apologize if my title was misleading. It was designed to get a non-believer to read, and perhaps take a second look, from another perspective, that just maybe Mr. Barack Obama is the right choice after all.
Thank You.
