Leon Spencer's Blog
My observations & suggestions because there's never enough knowledge.
Yes, the church in general has been inspirational in influencing the direction of our politics and nation. You remember the famous 'give me liberty or give me death!' words by Patrick Henry? Those words were utter in a church. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Henry
Any chemists out there? If so, I was wondering if there was a feasible chemical process to separate the hydrogen and nitrogen in C9H9N while resulting in a non-toxic byproduct - something that didn't require additional fossil fuels to do so. Instead of looking for methane, it seems like there is a great deal of feces going to waste. Further research might let us know if it is possible to modify our sewage plants to capture & treat this material so it can be reusable as fuel and other.I was reading an article about a proposed $300M prize for a new battery:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080623/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_energyI know one of the main concerns about hydrogen fuel cell vehicles has been the production cost as well as operating conditions. And I was thinking about all that feces going to waste.Regards,Leon
Let's never put political gain or popularity before principle: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080618/ap_on_el_pr/obama_muslims;_ylt=AoIIaLcRtmQR.77wi21IXvNp24cA "Aref said she replied by thanking Burton, but requested Obama apologize directly to her and Abdelfadeel, as well as invitations to sit behind him at a future campaign event. Obama spokeswoman Amy Brundage said the campaign has apologized." I hope soon to be President Obama will take the group up on their request and MAKE SURE these seats are reserved not only at ALL future events BUT at least two seats on his campaign plane at least once. Yeah, that would be a clear message - action over apology. Did you see the moveon.org ad; https://pol.moveon.org/donate/alexad.html?rc=homepage I just thought the response to McCain's "we could be in Iraq for 100 years..." comment was classic. IMHO Let's say that Obama is going to select you, yes YOU the reader, as his VP pick. Is it wise that he has already selected Patti Solis Doyle as the chief of your staff? I mean it's YOUR STAFF. Wouldn't you want to select your own people? How would you feel about this? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/06/16/politics/animal/main4185447.shtml
Can someone explain this to me? Again, I'm no HRC supporter and don't want her on the ticket. But absent the 'people of done this before' response, I'd like to know why this is a good thing? Disturbing. Again, we are seeing on television how there are 20 or VP candidates but only two are female. Do you really think the qualifications & percentages are such that there would only be two female candidates? And for a presidential candidates himself that has cited his nomination as being unprecedented yet his vetting committee fails to realize the importance of getting a woman in the VP spot plays on the edge of... Save responses such as 'the most qualified', 'military experience', and etc. Save responses such 'ready to be president'. Because by some critics, Obama was not ready to be president and lacked experience. Qualifications are always subjective because they are, and must be, a combination of tangible skills, soft skills, and impact. We all know the most technically skilled person may not be team player. Or their work ethic may minimize their impact on the bottom line. So let's focus more on the well rounded candidate that will have a longterm bigger impact on our country. Again, why are their only two female candidates? And if qualifications led to this list, is there something inherent about females that leads to only two being qualified? If not, then why perpetuate an uneven playing field? Signed, We're still hearing the 'talking heads' and some congress members cite HRC having won the popular vote. Ignore the talking heads on this one. I've seen various popular vote totals - some include Iowa, MI, and etc: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_count.html (posted earlier by a fellow Obamite) No where do I see where HRC has won the popular vote unless they are excluding Caucus states and somehow work MI & FL into the mix when those votes were casted outside of DNC rules. Leon I kid you not. Fox News says the "fist bump" shared between Obama & wife can be seen as a terrorist gesture. Okay guys, it was funny that at times Fox News seemed to be drinking their own kool-aid. But now it is just plain said. You know, those situations where something would be hilarious if the implications weren't just so sad. Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_vmQrTi3aM I am certainly glad I removed Faux News from my channel selection. Does this have anything to do with the election? http://video.yahoo.com/network/100284668?v=2762836&l=3774740&cache=1 No, but I have no idea what to make of it. lol Guys, I am sick & tired of the press shoving their VP picks down my throat - of which Kathleen Sebelius is usually THE ONLY WOMAN MENTIONED just to make their 'VP short list' seem well thought out. Well, it's not. Why are we always seeing one woman mentioned in a group of 10 or so men? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080607/ap_on_el_pr/veepstakes Let me say this for the last time, and kid you not, we MUST have a woman in the VP spot. If you think it's going to be smooth sailing because of a speech or a bad track record on the Iraq war, you're dreaming and need to wake-up & apologize. There are plenty of qualified women out there that will bring change and secure the election. Yes, we need a woman in that spot. And no, absolutely not, does your VP need to somehow have all of the foreign policy experience, military experience, or years in government that the president lacks. That's why there is a cabinet folks. That's why their are sec of state, defense sec, and other positions to provide feedback and balance. So I say let's make history together and put a woman on the ticket. And no, no HRC.
Let's not make the same mistake the Clinton Campaign made - running as the inevitable president elect. Let's not let our guard down - campaigning in some states and not in others. I suggest be everywhere at all times. And suggest the Obama Camp not throw out there existing staff just to make room for Clinton staffers.
Folks, dear folks, you can sometimes come to the edge of the moronic BUT don't make a habit of crossing over. YOU'LL CUT OFF YOUR NOSE TO SPITE YOUR FACE and hurt the body. Here's a disturbing post by an avid Hillary Clinton supporter that gives credence to the 2012 conspiracy: http://blog.hillaryclinton.com/blog/main/2008/06/05/144631
Yeah, she crossed over and kept on going!
Disturbing. Again, on MSNBC, Gail says it would be a "slap in the face" for the Obama Camp to pick a woman that hasn't even campaigned over Hillary Clinton. Are these people nutts? Seriously! So now women are a monolithic group? Hillary represents all women and if she can't have it, no other woman can? Are women listening to what Hillary and some of her supporters are saying? That in itself is a slap in the face. It is self-discrimination. After listening to HRC's speech following Obama this morning, one MUST ask how many opposing nonconciliatory speeches must Hillary give before the Obama Camp realizes she is not, and cannot be, a partner in governing the country? Any rumors or slight consideration of Hillary as a VP candidate should be stopped in their tracks. Did you hear Hillary's speech this morning? There is NO WAY Obama can govern with her as the VP giving opposing remarks. And if we're going to put her on the ticket just to win the presidency, I say we're compromising principle for short-term gain which will result in a failed marriage made in hell. Yes, we MUST have a woman in the VP spot. If you don't think so, you're fooling yourself. The race will go much easier without a large percentage of women out there believing Hillary was robbed of the nomination because Hillary is a woman. No, Hillary is just an awful personality - divisive and vindictive. Look at her most recent remarks where she basically said if she can't have the VP spot then no other woman should. What in the world? There are plenty of qualified women that would work well in the VP spot. And as Obama has repeatedly cited the urgency of now. Now is time. Now is the opportunity to not only make history but change. Now is the time, when decades ago the African-American Civil Rights Movement and Women Suffrage Movement took different courses, to bring the groups at the core of these movements back together on the same stage AND make history & change together. Yes Honorable Senator Obama, Presumptive Democratic Nominee for the President of the United State of American, now is the time to select a woman as your partner in that VP spot. Just as long as it is NOT Hillary! Sincerely, I kid you not. Hillary camp says no other woman should be selected to VP spot if she can't have it. What a hypocrite! Check out the blog entry by Mike: http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/Mikeystyle/gG5gXR Talk about keeping women down, being opportunistic, and not seeing the big picture! Don't even think about saying we need HRC as the VP to win. We do need a woman in the VP spot to bring aboard HRC supporters. But step back and look at what HRC supporters would be voting for IF they vote for McCain: 1. For more years of Bush 2. Reversing Roe v Wade 3. Limiting civil rights protections 4. Weakening our international relations 5. Appointing supreme court judges that reside until illness or death over a ultra conservative court which not only affect you but your children and grandchildren. 6. And a military & domestic policy they will continue to hurt our economy until collapse Think about it!
Hillary campaigning for the VP spot. Just Say No! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080603/ap_on_el_pr/clinton;_ylt=Ap.ThoiPxMKNiwaC7PL3OEOs0NUE
Hillary as a VP will not help the Democrats. And it certainly will not be easier to govern. Okay, what I roughly consider as the top 10 female vice president candidates in no particular order: 1. Claire McCaskill, Missouri - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claire_McCaskill 2. Lieutenant General Carol A. Mutter, USMC (Ret.) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_Mutter 3. Janet Napolitano, Arizona - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janet_Napolitano 4. Kathleen Sebelius, Kansas - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathleen_Sebelius 5. Dianne Feinstein, California - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dianne_Feinstein 6. Barbara Levy Boxer, California - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Boxer 7. Lynn C. Woolsey, California - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynn_Woolsey 8. Amy Jean Klobuchar, Minnesota - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Klobuchar 9. Mary Loretta Landrieu, Louisiana - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Landrieu 10. Maria E. Cantwell, Washington - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Cantwell NOTE: Amy Klobuchar is not a popular choice because of her voting record but I was trying to reach a top 10. So what are your choices? And yes, I still believe we MUST have a woman in the VP spot. Anyone who is even thinking about considering Hillary Clinton as the VP needs to wakeup & apologize! She is NOT a team player and will cause more divisiness than good. Yeah, I want a dream ticket. And yes, I still believe we need a woman in the VP spot to heal the wounds of those that will believe the nomination was stolen from a woman. BUT I certainly don't want Hillary, I forgot my table manners - don't speak of assassination during an election, to be our vice president. IMHO! I mean folks are already looking for the Obama camp to make a mistake. I say avoid getting off government during these speeches. Don't get personal. Don't give opinions on guns & religion. Stick with the main issues - Iraq War, Cost of Living, Civil Liberties,....Don't dignify talking heads like Dobbs and others. Who are they such that it is important to entertain their already flawed arguments? Stay focused.
