Platform Parties Coming Up!

Hi fellow supporters! I just wanted to take a moment to invite everyone to HOST a Listening to America Platform meeting between the 19th-26th of July which is coming up VERY SOON! This is an exciting opportunity to have our input used directly to shape the Democratic National Committee 2008 Platform! If you live in the Philadelphia Area there will be one going on at 282 S 52nd Street in West Philadelphia! I do hope to see you there, and more importantly I hope that you host one of your own! All Rhetoric No Backbone

Really, I'm curious, why do you support Obama? I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but can you give me a reason besides party rhetoric??? To date, no one has given me a strong critical reason based on his congressional voting record. Thanks for your input.

You do sound sarcastic, but I will answer anyway!

I support Barack Obama because I am not a one issue voter. I actually take the time to read up on the issues, form an opinion about them and then make an informed decision. I don't agree with Senator Barack Obama on every issue, but I am a citizen in this country, and I believe God has me here for a reason, and I feel called to be involved at the highest level possible. I will tell you my story, in hopes that you will have a clearer picture of why I support Senator Obama, but that is my story. What is yours?
I am from a family of immigrants. I support Barack Obama's position on our Immigrant Nation, and how to deal with the number of overstayers and undocumented people that are in this country who are allowed to stay here and who bolster our economy (as bad as it is right now). I am very interested in seeing my family and close friends be able to achieve one of the dreams that they have had in their lifetime, and that is to become residents or citizens of this country in a legit manner.
I am an educator. I support Barack Obama's position on higher education and providing families the cash opportunity to send their children or themselves to college. I have worked in an environment in which students are taken advantage of b/c they want to get an education so badly that they would sacrifice anything, including succumbing to predatory education lending at proprietary educational institutions, in hopes of improving their life outlook, get better jobs, and provide more for their families.
I am a relative of Iraqi War Heroes of few of which have sacrificed their lives for this country. I am so proud of them, and they are proud to serve this country. I would love to see what they have fought for, which is supposed to be the spread of peace and democracy, not be in vain. We have over stayed our welcome in Iraq and frankly, I need a president who recognizes that, and is willing to explore a path OUT of Iraq as soon as possible. This will put the much needed billions of dollars that has been drained out of our country for the last 6 years back into our schools, infrastructure, state and city governing bodies, the job market, and the list goes on.
I am an organizer and an encourager of people by nature and gifting. I appreciate how organized and far-reaching this campaign has become for people in my age group and frankly, people of all age groups. We ( the generation X of the last 30-35 years) have been largely unaware of politics since we have been able to vote. I appreciate that not only Senator Obama, but people all over this country, can recognized when it is time for them to get involved and exercise the rights given them in this country, which are to vote, and be active, thinking, thriving, and contributing members in their communities, and in all of their spheres of influence. I am tired of the Skeptical, angry, uninvolved citizens that I see daily, and I am sick of the attitude that not voting and not being involved in this process some how washes our hands of the responsibilities that we have as citizens, and for those who have a relationship with God, as people who call on God's name and suggest that we are being responsible for what he was given us here on this earth. We have a real chance to encourage people to act and become un-apathetic. I love that this is what the Sen Obama and the Campaign for Change stands for. It is time for our citizens to become REAL stakeholders and agents of change in this country, and stop being lethargic and apathetic. If for nothing else, he has my vote for getting people involved in this process like nothing we have seen since Bobby Kennedy!
I could go on and on and on and on....It make sound like rhetoric to you, but this is very real to me!

It's not that you are getting the short end...it's just that your stick is short...

With all the hoopla that is going with Florida and Michigan can someone PLEASE explain these three things to me?

1. Why are voters upset with the DNC for stripping delegates from FL and MI? Weren't they the ones that violated party rules?

2. Why did senator Clinton first agree to the rules and penalties for moving the primaries in these states and then later go into a rant about how everyone's vote was not counted...what? Like...you already knew that... Why are you making this into the new Civil Rights Movement? I don't get it...

3. Why does Clinton for ONE SECOND think that she is getting the short end of the stick?

Thank You Hil for breaking the glass ceiling for the women of the U.S....we thank you...but now you are making us look bad... There truly is a thin line between obsession and psychosis. Hilary you are too close babe, you are too close...

I just don't understand...

Right...I am supposed to believe that!

I am so disheartened at times to hear the talk around the office and around the town about the primaries and the like. People are SO fickle. When Barack fell behind my whole office declared Hillary the winner, now that Hillary is behind Barack is declared the winner...I wonder sometimes...do the US citizens that I work with and live with everyday...do they really stop and take the time to think and Thank God for the opportunities that they have been given? Namely the opportunity of a free will? The opportunity to be a part of a democracy such as ours? Do they realize that by being alive that they are an important part of this process and it is very important that they are involved beyond the level of fadism?

I refuse to believe that my fellow Americans are so shallow.
