This being my first blog, I really want to capture the essence of how I feel about this election. This year of all years, seems to be spewing a desperate regurgitation. The nation seems to be captivated by politics as usual, but internally hoping things could and would be different. I believe that the prying eyes and mouthpieces of the media, are on a tangent to muffle the sense of hope that the nation is yearning for. They have targeted the pulse of the nation, realizing that the pulse beats for a new era, and for a new reign. They are on course and target to propagandize this election with a fervent fever, not seen in a long time. While many pundits are quick to say that this year is not altogether different from any other year. They would be remiss if they did not admit that this is the first time ever that there has been round the clock coverage of this election for over a year now. Do we the people own this election or is it in the hands of the media, pundits, critics, propaganda pushers, and idiots? I think that it is time that we take back this election from those who wish to derail the will of the people. Day in day they continue to have the bulls-eye on the back of Barack Obama. He continues to mull his way through the mirk and mire with grace and audacity never before seen by a man vying for the highest office in this nation. It so often goes unnoticed that he has risen above the politics as usual even as the spin master continues to paint him as "high & mighty" or "out of touch" for refusing the invitation to get into the mire of Washington politics. Is that what the people really want, as gas prices are astronomical, food prices are sky rocketing, an endless war is being waged, looming wars are on the horizon, terrorists are building nuclear weapons, our nuclear weapons are under the control of "Dubya", to play tit-for -tat. I can't understand why Americans are taking this laying down. I just don't understand. As we continued week after week for over a month to hear soundbites from the "rev.", the real issues were being denied the right to be addressed and given the attention they fully deserved. Why is that we allow an unknown Reverend from an unknown church to steal the spotlight from the Barack Obama, the candidate for the United States Presidency. I hope in hindsight that many of us, realize that we were duped into believing that Wright's views have any bearing on Barack Obama. He is no more at fault for that than the Pope is for the pedophiles in the Catholic Church. The Pope rolled into America in his pope-mobile and was treated like royalty and Jesus Christ Himself. No one bats an eye at the atrocities to which he is connected. Sorry Catholics, I do not mean to beat up on your Pope. It just greatly relates to the Wright debacle. By the way, I attend a church and have for my entire life, where the pastor is firmly against women in the ministry. I strongly support it. I am hopelessly devoted to God and my Church and do not wish to get up and retract my church letter at everything that is said to which I disagree. I have not heard the Wright speech in its entirety and cannot say whether I agree or not. I will not take it out of context and base my opinions on one short snippet. I do know that we have removed God from everything in this country and written off just about every preacher who preaches the Gospel as a crazy, religious, loon. So I am vastly surprised at the fact that the media gave this guy any credibility. Oh yeah, they did not give him any credibility. They simply allowed him to participate in the attempted derailment of a otherwise historic campaign. The only thing I can say about this race right now is that I wish that Barack would step back and take inventory of the campaign and figure out what is working and what isn't. I wish he would for one moment realize that the people who can understand his dialect and astuteness aren't necessarily the one's he needs to reach right now. Sometimes people are more comfortable with a lie than they are with the truth. Sometimes it seems as though far too many Americans have gotten comfortable with the ever transforming politician. I for one, am in awe of the one who is able to stay the same. I am not afraid of Barack Hussein Obama. I am more afraid of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Hillary Clinton and her posse, and John McCain. I am afraid of nothing but the same ol' same ol.
