Its finally raining in Western NY where I live with my parents who are both in their 80's. I love living with my parents and came back to live with them a few years ago when I realized that they needed someone else to help them out. We have a weimaraner (dog) who keeps everybody motivated by demanding walks, treats, and scratches behind the ears. I spend my time getting freelance work in web design and development plus driving them on shopping exepeditions, helping them with their emailing, getting dinners, cleaning and generally listening to them.
We are spending our 4th of July just hanging out since its raining. Dad is watching his beloved Yankees and I'm reading the news on the web. We all talk alot about when I was a kid and they were young parents. We remember 4th of Julys in Vermont, going swimming at the lake, eating hotdogs with diced onions, potato salad with tons of mayonnaise, potato chips and baked beans. Now its grilled fish, oven baked potatos and cut-up fruit. I keep telling them they lived in the best of times when the middle class made this country great. Its gone now and its very difficult to get ahead for any young family getting started.
I am praying Senator Obama will be president. He is thoughtful and listens to people. America can't go back to the 50's and 60's. Its a different world now but I see that America needs a new kind of leadership as we enter this new century. America has always been about its people and not about its corporations. The ability for Americans to elect as their next president, a young man raised by a couple from the Greatest Generation would be a good fit. Go Mr. Obama!
What seems strange to me is Spielberg, the director of so many movies dealing with the nobility of man has endorsed the Shark. Spielberg is more an accountant than a artist. From reading about Obama, his profile fits neatly around the theme that Spielberg has embraced in his movies. Obama lived with his grandparents who were from the Greatest Generation and lived in Hawaii, then later with a step father in Indonesia, and then as a community organizer in south Chicago and then visited his extended family in Kenya. He's lived a life that few Americans will ever live. He has insight into our country based on someone who has lived away from America. He understands regular Americans and regular people around the world.
So it makes no sense why a guy who obviously loves a good story about adversity and how people oversome it, has endorsed so shallow and creepy a woman and her absolutly pussywhipped, philandering husband.

I've been reading about Mike Bloomberg's plan to probably run as an independant in 2008. the guy has more money than Jesus Christ and can afford to wait awhile and watch the others tire themselves out before stepping in as a fresh experienced face with lots and lots of cash.
One commentator on Huffpo suggested that perhaps we should just put the USA on Ebay and sell it outright to the highest bidder. The presidency is open to only those with very close ties to lobbyists and big corp. The executive office is now a throne room.
since Obama's announcement for his run in front of the old statehouse in Springfield, Illinois, I've been reading a little about Lincoln. I've read that Obama identifies strongly with Lincoln perhaps because both men came from almost nothing. Their natural gifts as spokesmen made them rise above the rest of the crowd.
Somehow I really hope Obama can mirror Lincoln's talent for being in touch with his country. During the Civil War, the nightmare that Lincoln had to endure, I've read that he could communicate effectively with Washington politicos and his generals... and then sit down with a farmer who's son was in the war and ask how he was getting along w/o his son there to help him. He had a gift and the background to be in touch with everyday Americans and lead because they believed in him. I am hoping Obama given his beginnings with his Kansas-born grandparents and his identity to his Kenyan family, can somehow be like Lincoln and identify with Americans and the world.
Bush, Clinton, Bloomberg are totally out of touch with the average working American. They know big business and its shakey connection to American interests. Big business is their boss. We keep electing these kind of leaders and we are truly damned to continue what eisenhower called the military industrial complex.
My belief is that Obama is the only candidate capable of restoring what America is. We have lost so much in the last 6 1/2 years. I only hope he can be elected and begin the restoration process. Go Mr. Obama! Keep what the Luo's (Kenyan tribe) call the "night-runners" (demons) out of the presidency.
I've been watching Hillary lately. I don't think I could take 4 years of that woman's face after the last 6 1/2 years of nearly turning purple with rage when Bush speaks.. I notice that the news media is now covering her much more than the other candidates. I can't understand what is up with their fascination for her. I live in New York and she hasn't done anything worth mentioning here.
The US needs a particularly good leader right now. We need someone who can listen to other people and connect with them. We need someone who will be the world's US president... Hillary is not that person. She is a politician...as Maureen Dowd calls her.."a shark". We don't need a shark. We need someone who is world saavy, someone that people are drawn to. I think Barack has these qualities. I'm praying for him all the way.
I'm trying to use telepathy to get Mr. Obama to take on Clinton. He's too polite with her. She's a career politician who knows how to walk the walk and talk the talk. Obama's new kind of politics isn't playing well in the debates. Somehow he needs to come at her with a good verbal punch. I hope he is thinking a strategy for next time.
I just finished watching the Boston TV video about Mr. Obama's unpaid parking tickets (which he paid at the onset of his campaign)..
I lived in Boston for about 3 years and I accrued dozens of parking tickets. Its just a fact of life for Boston/Cambridge people that parking is a commodity in the city and if you drive, your gonna rack up parking tickets.
I don't understand the significance of bringing it to attention after 10 years. Its like living in New England... your gonna shovel snow....you live in Hawaii, your gonna get a sunburn. You live in Boston, your gonna get alot of parking tickets.
Jeez Louise!!!
I watched Chris Matthews last night and laughed at his analogy of Hillary Clinton's wrath at Geffen's remarks about she and her husband and how they lashed out at Senator Obama. He talked about the old movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". He kept quoting "who are those guys?" Thats when Robert Redford's Sundance Kid kept gazing off into the distance and watching some faraway riders coming towards them...pursuing them. It was similar to Senator Obama, the fresh new guy coming in hot pursuit of the tarnished politicians.
Obama Rocks!!!!
I'm hoping that barackobama.com is successful in establishing an online community of very active and dedicated true believers. America has for once a really good candidate who is going to have to battle the established powers in Washington. Hillary is already taking Dubya's lead in knocking out the other candidates even before they get started.
I'm a web designer and developer and I've always had hope that the internet would establish a community or forum where people could help and support each other and get behind a good cause like Mr. Obama.
I'll hope this site continues to grow and flourish. I want to see Obama as President. I'm tired of dynestys.
