I just wanted to follow up on the Goshen, Indiana meeting last night. The organizer is Dan Shenk and he had us follow up with post cards to Iowa voters that are on the fence and maybe swinging Barack's direction. In the next month, Dan is going to get me a list of 75 Iowa voters on the fence that I will send post cards to. Dan Shenk will get back to me in about a week or so with the Iowa voter names to whom I will send post cards to. I think it is a great idea to send post cards because they add a personal touch without being meddlesome. Thanks. Kevin McInerney

Last canvass of Goshen Sunday, November 2nd (two days before election)

Canvassed out on the south east end of Goshen country side 6 miles outside of downtown Goshen. This concludes my canvassing and Barack Obama has won Indiana by 26,000 votes. Encountered 2 voters who early voted. Mary Ann, who was sent from Chicago did a wonderful job helping to make the Obama office in Goshen a success.

Sunday, September 28th

Posting to say that I was canvassing in neighberhood across 33 from Dunkin Donuts on Sunday, September 28th and registered 7 voters with Aaron who is in the military. Aaron I found to be an extremely intelligent guy with terrific ideas. The deadline to register voters in Indiana is this coming Friday, October 3rd. All is well with the Goshen for Obama group. Mariana who is in charge of the Goshen for Obama is doing an outstanding job as is the rest of the Obama Goshen group.

Went with Gary Yoder to canvass as the Obama office in Goshen, Indiana office has re-opened in a new location in the heart of downtown Goshen. Registered 3 voters and got telephone numbers for prospective Obama voters. Office represents great historical precedenc as it was funded on an entirely grassroots level. I ma very pround to be a financial contributor to this office. Simply put, if Obama wins Elkhart County, he will win Indiana and win the national presidential election in November, 2008. Gary Yoder is the best canvasser I've had the opportunity to work with and has a tremendous ability at registering voters. I hope to go out with him a number of times between now and November.

Goshen parade

Juggled in the Elkhart County fairgrounds parade. Dan, the organizer of the Obama volunteers, did a great job of keeping the parade group fired up and a great time was had by all. A number of folks registered before and during parade route. No McCain group represented.

Monday, April 28th canvassing in Goshen, Indiana

Canvassed in residential area on the east, south east side of Goshen. Found 7 Obama supporters. The evening was cold and rainy and my coat was a soggy piece of linen by the night's end. I went to the office on 5th street and did 7 pages of data entry. Andrew Murto, Dan Schenk and myself conversed on the historical precedence of just having enough influence to turn the tide in Obama's favor to give him just that 51% he needs to relinquish and put out the burning embers of any moment she may have incurred from her 9.5 victory in Pennsylvania. I won a Obama autograph on Ebay for $70. Any attempts to mee the mighty Barack have led to futility as he has headed back to North Carolina where his victory is assured. I pray that Barack's destiny is in the hands of the Hoosier state, and this state must take the cheese, or I fear that the tenacious Hillary will politically live to see another day. It is 11:00 p.m. I am tired, but my efforts are well worth it.

Thursday, April 24th canvassing

Canvassed the Goshen, Indiana downtown area and on the north end near the hospital. Areas across from Goshen College. Found about 15-20 Obama supporters and talked to one Hillary supporter who was concerned about her stating in the primary all the way to Colorado. She also made inquiry about what precinct she was in.

Saturday, April 5th Saturday April 12th and Sunday April 20th

Just blogging to keep up with the latest canvassing developments. On Saturday, April 5th, I canvassed in Goshen, Indiana on the west side of town in an area that had multiple duplexes. Gary Yoder and I got 11 folks registered. On April 12, I canvassed in Elkhart in an apartment complex called Washington Gardens. Handed out fliers and took notes on those folks who are Obama supporters. This Sunday, April 20th, I will be canvassing on Goshen's near norht side as part of the township teams. Went also to see Charles Ogletree at Goshen College, a colleague of Barack who gave a very nice lecture on Barack's personal character.

Excellent job for David Plouffe and all Obama staff, volunteers ETC.

Just wanted to give David Plouffe great credit for the recent perspectives on the various spin jobs that the Clintons have been trying to throw at Barack Obama. With that I do hereby contribute another donation to what has truly been the most outstanding political campaign in U.S. history. Keep up the great work, David with all of your great staff. I have been attending meeetings for the last 6 months in Goshen, Indiana and I have had a great time. Good work to everyone who has helped Barack Obama in his quest to the White House. Thanks for making it so much fun.

Question about Obama appeal amongst low income voters?

I wanted to throw this question up to the bloggers because I have always found it curious: Why does Hillary Clinton generally do better than Barack with lower income voters. I am low income yet I am much more impressed by Barack's community organizing work. Was it because Bill Clinton came from modest income circumstances? If anything, Hillary's appeal comes with union representatives and organizations it seems. Just curious. Thanks.

One major concern I haven't heard addressed

Iowa is going to come down to a few percentage points as is this entire Democratic primary. An issue I would like to post and hear responses to is this: I really want Barack to win this primary, so much, in fact, that I am concerned that because these states are going to come down to a few, small percentage points that the electiosn in these states be run with the utmost propriety. One of the aspects of great concern in the 2000 presidential election was over the nature of counting votes witht the chads and all. How are we going to know if these primaries and caucuses in the democratic primaries are going to be run with the greatest scrutiny possible since these elections will come down to thinly defined percentage points? Thanks.
