I received the following e-mail today asking for more money in the battle for health care reform!
Why the heck is OFA asking for more money when we already donated our time, money, sweat and tears to get President Obama elected with a mandate of the vote?!
Not only that, we helped give the Democrats a veto-proof majority in the Senate!
Why does anybody need more money? Enough already - they've been elected and they're already on the payroll!!
I say to the President and the Democrats in congress: "We gave you the mandate, now start acting like it and get to work for us by making sure a public option is in the final health care bill!"
Health care reform without a public option will be a BIG win for the Republicans and the Insurance industry. We didn't work our hearts out so that could happen.
FIGHT - FOR OUR RIGHT - FOR HEALTHCARE - WITH A PUBLIC OPTION!!!!!!!
My response to the letter below - "Not another cent until we get the guarantee that any final bill will contain a true public option!!!!" Karl --On Thursday, Vice President Biden called out the insurance industry's escalating war on health reform in a special message to OFA, and asked for your help in fighting back.Sure enough, the insurance industry is already stepping up the attack: Reports just leaked from a closed-door meeting where insurance industry lobbyists frantically warned Republican members of Congress that it was not in their interest to "ever vote for this thing" and said supporting reform is like "giving comfort to the enemy." USA Today is reporting that groups opposing reform are lobbying at "a record pace" -- and the Associated Press notes that they've already spent an astounding $32 million on TV ads this year. This is what we're up against. President Obama, Vice President Biden, and all of us together through OFA are fighting back -- but success depends on having the resources to win.Can you chip in $25 or more today to power our campaign?https://donate.barackobama.com/FinalRoundIn this fight, the insurance industry has their war chest and insider lobbyists. We have you. So how does it work?

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is a Precinct Caucus?
A precinct caucus is essentially a neighborhood meeting where DFLers gather to choose a candidate for President, to show their support for candidates at all levels, and to have a real voice in the DFL Party’s 2008 platform. At more than 4,000 precinct caucuses on February 5, Minnesota DFLers will:
Who can participate at the precinct caucus?
Any Minnesotan can participate if they are: eligible to vote by November 4, 2008, not an active member of another political party (or attending another political party’s caucus in 2008) and subscribe to the Constitution and Bylaws set forth by the DFL Party.
While those who will not be 18 by November 4, 2007 may also participate in general caucus business, they cannot vote in the Presidential Preference ballot or vote for delegates.
When are Precinct Caucuses?
Minnesota’s DFL Precinct Caucuses will take place Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
Registration for the caucus starts at 6:30 p.m. and you can vote on the Presidential Preference Ballot from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m., preference ballots will be tallied and certified by the caucus. The totals will be announced and reported to the Minnesota Secretary of State for a final caucus night tally.
How Do I Find My Precinct Caucus?
Precinct Caucuses are generally held in public buildings, such as schools or community centers. Some counties or districts hold multiple precinct caucuses at one central site.
There are a couple ways to find out where to caucus:
Why should I go to my Precinct Caucus?
The Presidential Preference Ballot is your first chance to make your voice heard on who you think should be the next President of the United States. But this is also an opportunity to get more involved in the DFL Party.
Attending the caucuses also means that you get the chance to run to be a delegate at your Senate District or County Unit Convention, which is where DFLers elect delegates to the State DFL Convention from June 6-8, 2008. It’s at the State Convention where DFLers will endorse a candidate for the United State Senate and vote on the Minnesota DFL Party’s platform.
How do I become a delegate?
To be a delegate at the state or national convention, you start by running to be a delegate at your precinct caucus. As a delegate to your Senate District or County Conventions, you can run to be a delegate to both your Congressional District and State Conventions. You can also volunteer for your favorite candidates.
What if I can't attend my precinct caucus?
You can submit a letter to your caucus asking to be elected as a delegate to your county unit convention. The letter must include your contact information, and your affirmation that you are eligible to participate (as described above). Use the DFL caucus finder to identify your county unit chair, and contact that person to know how to submit your letter. A sample letter can be found at the bottom of this page.

I don't know who had the idea, but I think it was a terrible idea not to campaign and/or be on the ballot for the Michigan or Florida primaries. This action has already angered and alienated many voters and will make it harder to win these states in the general elelction in the event that Obama gets the nomination.
The only hope is that the Obama campaign makes up for it by spending lots of time in both of those states later on.
The most recent Clinton tactic has been to downplay the great influence that words of hope can play in the psyche of Americans by implying that Lyndon Johnson did more for the civil rights movement than did Martin Luther King Jr. or Robert F. Kennedy.
Why have they done this?
It is because Barack Obama shares a characteristic that Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. displayed - the wonderful and powerful ability to uplift and inspire millions by their words. Such inspiration gave hope to millions and led to much positive change in our country. Without the words of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson would never have been able to enact the positive changes that he did. The way was paved by those crying out in the wilderness. They were the true leaders and agents of change. Hillary recognizes this same power in Obama. She has seen millions and millions of people fired up and given hope through Obama's positive attitude and words of hope. The only thing left for Hillary to do has been to try to cause doubt in the minds of those who have been given hope. I think it is a fatal mistake that she has become a hope destroyer in her quest to become the next president.I think the remaining primaries and caucuses will show that people are tired of the old faces and voices in Washington. People want a new face with a fresh new voice of real hope and real positive change... Barack Obama!
As Senator Obama said, this campaign cannot be only about Senator Obama, "It must be about us - it must be about what we can do together."
This campaign must take our time, our energy, and our resources if we wish to see real change come. As the Senator said, "Few obstacles can withstand the power of millions of voices calling for change."
By ourselves, this change will not happen. We must work together!
That's why I'm in this race. It's to gather with other concerned Americans to transform our nation!
Let me echo the words of Senator Obama:
"I want to win that next battle - for justice and opportunity."
"I want to win that next battle - for better schools, and better jobs, and health care for all."
"I want us to take up the unfinished business of perfecting our union, and building a better America."
"And if you will join me in this improbable quest, if you feel destiny calling, and see as I see, a future of endless possibility stretching before us; if you sense, as I sense, that the time is now to shake off our slumber, and slough off our fear, and make good on the debt we owe past and future generations, then I'm ready to take up the cause, and march with you, and work with you. Together, starting today, let us finish the work that needs to be done, and usher in a new birth of freedom on this Earth."
Hey friends - Let's get to work! Obama '08!
