Well, I'm not much into writing blogs, but I never thought I would support a canidate as much as I do Barack, so.... Whatever! We'll see what happens..

Right to Vote

I'm not sure how many of you out there have seen Iron Jawed Angels. It was an HBO movie that aired in 2004 (I think) with Hillary Swank. It's a movie about the women's suffrage movement. I own the movie and have seen it numerous times (It's one of my all time favorites). The reason it is one of my favorite movie is because every time I watch it, I am reminded how precious my vote is. I am reminded how many women, men, blacks, whites, asians, etc, have fought for my right to vote. I am assuming many of you don't know just how much these women suffered to gain the right to vote. I know I had vaguely heard something about it, but it wasn't until I watched the movie that I realized what that meant exactly...
Alice Paul and her members were eventually imprisoned on bogus charges. While in Prison, they carried out a hunger strike and were forced fed. It wasn't like they were told to eat or else... No, their jaws were forced open and eggs were poured down their throats. It wasn't until the situation looked so bad, that legislation was eventually introduced....
The reason why I bring this up... The reason it is so important to me, is because until now, I have been an apathetic voter. I have always voted because it is a right too precious to allow to go to waste. But, it wasn't a vote for anyone I had a passion for, a belief in, or cared about. Instead, it was my way of ensuring that I was not letting the struggles of Alice Paul and her commarades go to waste.
But Barack has changed that. Here is someone I will proudly vote for. Here is a man that deserves my hard earned vote. Here is someone who will ensure that my vote is treasured....
Please, enlighten everyone you know. Iron Jawed Angels is a movie that I will show my kids, when i have them. I will show anyone and everyone who will watch, because, we must appreciate our right to vote. We msut give it value. I'm just happy I finally have someone to proudly vote for!
