Facing It Fully

Regarding Obama's recent letter to supporters re: needing money to fight the negative campaigning that will come soon, we all realize the issue of Barack's color will rise it's ugly head in the campaign, just as the issue of religion confronted Kennedy, as soon as people realize that he is a very viable candidate. Have you seen Time's July 2 article on "What we can learn from JFK?" It's all wonderful, but on page 50 it speaks of how Kennedy addressed questions of faith during his campaign. I believe, like Kennedy, that Obama should face the color issue square on and bring out clearly into the open what every voter is thinking - and address it. Kennedy spoke eloquently and pointedly and aggressively to this issue so that there were no questions in anyone's mind as to the influence religion would play in his Presidency. Obama must do the same, so that ALL voters - black,white,hispanic,etc -will be forced to search within themselves for their own soul searching answers to this issue. I'm praying it will be a growth experience for all of us!
