So last night I set out organizing a meeting of local community democrats to sit down and talk about local issues, national issues, the upcoming elections, and how we want to try to organize. So far the response has been minimal. That's ok though! I'm not giving up yet, I promise this much. I am the currently the communications director for the Shippensburg University chapter of College Democrats. This morning I spoke with the president of the group and he let me know we're planning on having a health care rally next week! Very exciting stuff. We'll be meeting this weekend to workout the details and paint some banners. We're going to search for some information to print and make plenty of copies to hand out. I plan to tell the students to e-mail and write their senators and representatives to say we want healthcare reform now! Should be an exciting event.

We need to do this. Everyone needs to chip in and support. I hope we pull it off. I really really want to see Barack win this. I think it's closer than people think.
so much excitement.
This night was a big surprise. Obviously, Obama did all he could, but I think the people need to get out and do more. I feel like people saw the poll numbers and figured they didn't need to go out and vote given Obama was up 10% at one point (as I posted last night). This just shows if you support something, get out and show it.
Still it wasn't a complete disaster. He got a good chunk of votes and still is leading in the delegate count by a few (as of 11:15pm).
He'll move on and the stakes get bigger as the dates move on!
Keep fighting the good fight!
Just a couple hours now until the NH polls close and we see if the Obama train continues to roll. I know I can already see momentum is starting in PA, a state where the primary plays little roll. However, that's how excited people are. They want to do all they can anyway. I've found that I got some people with interest in the event I planned which is cool. As people get back to school, I am sure I can find some more people, and I'll put some flyers up!
I am very excited about tonight and will be watching he news for the next few hours!

Wow!
After my post last night Barack was up maybe 3 points 33-30% over Hillary, but I awoke (albeit late) this morning and he was up 10 39%-29%. That's amazing. I wish I could be up there so bad! Seeing all those who crowds he greets everywhere he goes is great. My favorite part is how some candidates are already moving in to another state. The people of NH should remember that when they hit the polls starting at 12 a.m.
Anyway, I am starting to get some of my family involved in the campaign by asking for a few small donations. I have also gotten a few responses to my event at Shippensburg. So I'll continue to recruit people via Internet today.
I would love to see Obama make a stop down this way sometime later on. It's such a crucial state and Shippensburg is in an area with a lot of conservatives, so seeing a fresh name and voice of change might help to sway some voters!
Couple hours away from MORE history!
I've decided after watching for over a year now to start supporting Barack Obama for President in 2008. I know my endorsement is going to be huge for Senator Obama's campaign and I hope the media will respect my decision.
All kidding aside after thinking this over for a while and watching the ABC/Facebook debates I have decided to throw my support (all of it!) to Obama. I am really excited about this, because I have always enjoyed politics and being only 19 this will be my first Presidential Election I can vote in!
So check in when you can to see what I am up to. Right now I am going to start organizing people on my campus. My first step is to simply find those Obama supporters and see what we want to do. I created a group meeting for about 2 weeks and we'll see what we can do! The one problem is that PA primary is basically useless as it is so far after the important ones. However, many kids on campus live far from home and NEED to get absentee ballots for the primary so that can vote in the November election. Many are probably not registered and if they live in town could register there.
Anyway, time for me to go for a run. ( I run cross country and track and field for Shippensburg). I'll blog once I get some feed back from the other student's of Shippensburg.
