I am watching President-Elect Obama give his victory speech, and still in a state of disbelief.
I am more optimistic about my country's future tonight than I have ever been in my life.
Only a few more days until we cross the finish line! I just donated $25 that I really don't have because I believe that the next 3 days are paramount to our nation.
Please go to my donation page and join me in giving Barack the final push his campaign needs to achieve a victory for us all!
After taking a few weeks off, I'm back in the saddle and ready to get crackin' on some local races here in the DFW area.
Since my state is not exactly competitive for Obama, I'll be picking a few close races to focus my energy on.
In two weeks, I will be back in Texas!
I look forward to working on many National and Statewide races this Fall!
I was encouraged to learn yesterday that Obama as come out in opposition to retroactive immunity for Telecom companaies who complied with the Bush Administraton on illegal wiretapping.
I hope Obama filibusters the shit out of this thing until it dies. I don't know why a lot of Dems are seemingly afraid to force Bush to veto this thing. It is strategically advantageous for us to do so.
It allows us to paint Republicans into a corner by forcing them to side once again with an extremely unpopular president. It also gives us more fodder for "Roadblock Republican" advertising in hotly contested districts all over the country where illegal wiretapping is not a popular idea.
Go for it Obama!
I don't like this. I support Obama and have campaigned for him in a dozen states, but I don't like this. The decision by Pelosi and the Dem leadership smacks of election year pandering, and it doesn't help our party, or our nominee.
We can BS as much as we want that this was the best way out of this situation, but the truth is that they were worried about political blowback if they stood up to the GOP, and they chickened out.
If they keep wondering why the public is still skeptical about giving us the reins, despite how bad the Republicans have screwed things up, look no further than our inability to stand strong on anything.
I don't like this.
I know everyone has their own pick for Veep, but my money is still on someone from Virginia.
That's right, one of the "Big 3"
Webb, Warner, or Kaine.
It's time to say goodbye to another primary season and move on to the GE.
Do I hear the Neville Brothers playing in the background?
Last night was one of the most rewarding moments of my life.
In 2004, while watching Senator Obama give his speech at the DNC convention, I thought to myself, "If this guy ever runs for president, I'm going to work my ass off for him." The day after he declared in 2007, I signed up for his campaign.
Over the last 16 months, I have canvassed in Texas, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Delaware, Ohio, and the District of Columbia.
I have canvassed in Greenwood, SC, the place where the "fired Up, Ready to Go!" chant originated.
I drove 20 hours to Des Moines, Iowa for the Jefferson Jackson Dinne, which I truly believe will be remembered as the turning point in this primary campaign.
I registered voters who switched parties in Texas because Obama inspired them.
I watched as my mother, a lifelong Republican who lives in Tennessee, slowly became a fan of Barack Obama.
As I sat there last night, with a glass of 12 yr old Elijah Craig Bourbon, I found myself close to tears for the first time ever in my political life.
Let's enjoy this for a day, then get to work on November.
Fired Up! Ready to Go!
I'm going to NC next weekend!
I will be in Elizabeth City, NC helping to gear up the GOTV operation on the 6th.
Yes We Can!
With Pennsylvania behind us, we need to get right back to work and focus on North Carolina and Indiana. HRC has been raising cash like crazy since the polls closed last night. Let's show them that we won't be set back and that we can raise even more money when we really need it.

The debate last night was a complete waste of time where McCain probably picked up more of an advantage than anyone.
The polls are tightening up in PA, and I think it's gonna be a humdinger!
Here's a link to my favorite moment so far on the campaign trail. It's nice to see Obama hitting back for once!

3 more weeks.
21 more days.
That's how much time we have before the Pennsylvania Primary. This is how long we have to listen to idiots like Ed Rendell show their willingness to wreck our party for the sake of feeding the bloviated ego of the junior senator from New York. I hate to say that HRC would put her ego before party loyalty, but when it has become obvious that she will lose the delegate count, lose the popular vote, and lose in number of states won, it becomes difficult to explain it otherwise.
If Obama can keep PA within 7-8 points, this thing might be over by the end of April.
The superdelegates have got to step in and end this thing. One report today cited a DNC official who acknowledged that HRC is pursuing the "Tonya Harding Strategy" in which she destroys Obama in her losing bid for the nomination.
Is this really what the party wants?
I know I don't.
I am stuck in Texas, due to some inclement weather causing my flight to be canceled yesterday. Luckily, the extra time has allowed me to observe and recollect my own experiences of being without Health Insurance in Texas.
I drove by Parkland Hospital, which is the county hospital for Dallas, and I remembered the 2 different times I sat in the emergency waiting room with all the other uninsured waiting to get some form of treatment, praying it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. I remember getting charged $300 for a shot they gave me after I waited in a crowded hallway for 14 hours. They should have paid me after all that time.
This reminded me of how badly we need someone in the Oval Office who cares deeply about making sure people like me and countless others do not fall through the cracks of our healthcare system. That person is Barack Obama.
The last state in the Deep South gets their say today. A lot of pundits, joined by the Clinton campaign, have ignored the significance of Obama winning states in the South. They have tried to write it off with the logic that since there are black people in the south, that Obama is winning solely based on that fact.
The real significance, is that Obama is winning state wide in these states. He is not just winning in a congressional district with a heavy minority population. This fact is why there are not any African-American Senators from these states. For those of you who don't know, white people vote a lot in Democratic primaries in the south. To suggest that Obama is winning these primaries only on account of his "blackness" is ignorant at best, and disengenuous at its worst.
Bill Clinton pushed this line of reasoning in South Carolina with his Jesse Jackson remarks, and there was significant blowback, but its old news this time around in Mississippi, and it's the mainstream media pushing it this time. We should not allow them to get away with this.
