The terrible tragedy of the bridge collapse in Minnesota can be attributable not only to the negligence of its governor who spends most of his time taking photo- ops with the military(go to his web site) but the lack of repair of our national infrastructure.
We have plenty of evidence that our energy grids are insufficient, our bridges and highways are in pathetic need of repair, and our crumbling water supply and wastewater systems have not been attended to for decades. We have gridlock on our highways and 'wing-lock' at our airports. We have an insufficient number of public schools and the safest bridge in America is the bridge to nowhere.
The Republican party has made "no taxes" their mantra for a long time, now you can look at the result of that thinking. While I'm not advocating a tax increase I do think we need to allocate our money the right way. We need to help our citizens who pay for this government.
Remember, taxes are defined as the sum imposed by government on person or property. I would not increase such a sum since the middleclass has paid more than enough in taxes, however I would remove deductions on the wealthy to pre- Bush era and remove the off shore deductions of multi national corporations like Halliburton who moved their corporate headquarters to Dubai to avoid taxes and expected law suits for their criminal behavior in Iraq.
Get out of Iraq and start using our resources for our people. After all, if you look at Japan or Germany, they have superior systems of mass transportation, yet the richest country in the history of the world (the United States) canot maintain its own basic infrastructure.
Sen.Clinton's ties to the american indian business establishment should be highlighted in the obama campaign. What she did to destroy jobs in Buffalo by her promotion of the Tata corp. is well documented. She recently gave a speech demanding an increase in H1 visas to 115000.The last thing labor needs is job outsourcing white collar jobs for the sake of campaign contributions.Anyone who supports uions would be appalled at the Clinton's record to promote NAFTA and other globalization plans.
