I am not sure why people are afraid of the proposed tax changes or why they think a standard tax system is socialist. For most of us who make under $250,000 there will be additional tax breaks and tax margins shifts to align with the standard of living. For 95% of us, this means a tax break. For most of that 95% it is a higher tax cut than the tax cut proposed by McCain.
For those of us that make over $250,000, the first $250,000 will be taxed at the same rate every one else got. Lets suppose I make $250,001. I will get taxed at a higher margin for $1. The tax hike on that $1 is moving back to Clinton tax margin. Did anyone in this margin feel orpressed and overly burdoned taxes during Clinton's office?
Several that exist in the $250,000 tax bracket are supporting Obama. This list of Obama supporters include: Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Collin Powell, Ben Affleck, Bette Midler, and Warren Buffett to name a few. Does anyone really think these people would support Obama if he was going to take away all their cash and give it to the poor? No, it looks like this is a tax plan people are ok with.
