As a Republican, I have found supporting GOP candidates harder every election. Not because my views have changed but because the party has drifted so far to the right. The GOP I grew up with is not the GOP of today. However, I have also found it hard to support Democratic presidential candidates because they didn't share my viewpoints. That was until I heard Barack Obama speak. He shares many of the same views as I do about many of the issues and he has shown to have a level of understanding that goes deeper than all of the presidential candidates. Barack is a deep thinker and a divergent thinker. He can look at an issue from a million different viewpoints and determine which one would be best for this country. I also love the fact that he won't accept any PAC money or money from federal lobbyists. That is the reason, for the first time in my life, I have donated to a presidential candidate. Barack Obama is my FDR, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, all rolled up into one person.
