was a great event in Napa City. Jacques Juilland - with help from this writer and many others- convened an energizing caucus where we (unofficially) chose Chip Roberson, Sonona, Martha Beetley, Davis, Tracey Krumpen, Napa, and Ryan Loney, Davis as our three delegates and alternate. There were 52 candidates and 305 voters. Results need to be certified in Sacto this week. Our caucus was outdoors- it was warm and sunny. Obama supporters from all four parts of CD 1 got to know each other in person. Humboldt-Del Norte, Mendocino Lake, Napa and a slice of eastern Sonoma, and southern Yolo County make up a district where Barack won by 2.3% on 2-5-08.
Having take tbe weekend off from calling, we are all very motivated to call PA this weekend- April 19-20
Congratulations to all four of our delegates and to all the people who ran.
Barack Obama!
There is a huge two sided durable OBAMA sign on my house at 746 N Bush St. Meloday Ishihara- who has to be the most sincere Obama worker in Northern California- had it made. This kool sign needs a high visibility home preferably on Highway 101. Let me know if you can place it.
I know things look excellent everywhere but the Ukiah Valley in No Cal is no exception. I have worn Obama shirts every day for a long time.
But lately literally every other person stops me to express their enthusiam for Barack or to admire his unflabability (ex: last night in Cleveland when the opponent delivered her speechwriter mock about the celestial skies, the heavens, and the angels singing and Barack put an end to it with a sincere "that's good.") :)
I doubt that the 1932 election was this exciting!

I was on the December 19th GrassRoots Finance call with Chris Hughes, Juliana Smoot
and BARACK! Barack said, "This thing is really in reach!" How motivating and exciting-
a month ago we would be ectastic to know this!
I tabled on December 22 and 23 at Raleys in Ukiah-- I would say 55% roughly of Raley shoppers have identified as Obama supporters-- not scientific but sure encouraging.
Tomorrow morning, Debora McGillivray, Judy Popowski, Ava Holly-Clayman and I are meeting to plan our Party and Organizational meeting set for the 27th at 6 PM.
As always, Susan Nutter leads the amazing Mendocino Coast neighborhood. Julie, Wanda, and Shelley in Lake and Wes in Willits round our fired-up team in Area 2 of CD1.
Hey folks - I need to reach my $1000 commitment by 1-1-08. Please give today in my name-- thanks.
Debora McGillivray and I tabled on Mon 12-10 at Mendocino College.
Saturday the 15th Lois Lockart and I did the same thing at Lucky's Ukiah Pear Tree.

Deborah McGillivray and I tabled for nearly three hours at Safeway Sat 12/8. Five new
volunteers, and four registrations resulted.
(including a 65 yo man registering from Rep to Dem so he can vote for Barack on Feb 5- in CA
declline to state voters can also vote for Barack).
Dozens of people took position papers, bumpers stickers and yard signs. Still more gave us
smiles and thumbs up.
The good winds from South Carolina must have been blowing west!
This afternoon Gail Dammuller and I are going to try to repeat Saturday's success at Mendocino
Community College. The news from the early four states this weekend is outstanding and inspiring!
This past weekend we tabled Sat and Sun at Raleys, a major supermarket in Ukiah. My favorite handout to those "leaning" is Andrew Sullivan's article from Atlantic Monthly "Goodbye to all that"-- it explains why only Barack can do what the "fierce urgency of now" demands.
Goin to table this weekend- at Safeway-- if they let us. It includes voter registration
Our friends on the Mendocino Coast (Susan Nutter to name one) and in Lake County (Julie Bywaters- for one) are going gangbusters.
Here in Ukiah we are planning debate watching parties for Dec 10 and/or 17th--- 505 Cypress Ave.
Just got off a Grassroots Finance-fundraising Committee Call from Chicago led by Chris hughes so need to get to work on ideas from him and the callers.
We had a publicized "Get to Know Obama" Party at Debora and Terry's House in Ukiah Sat 11-24.
Thanks to Susan Nutter from Fort Bragg (Mendo Coast), my favorite handout was an Atlantic Monthly article by Andrew Sullivan, "Beyond All That." Excellent! And on PBS Jim Lehrer 11-23, Mark Shields, and even his counterpart David Brooks, seemed to have adapted it!!!
We showed clips from various Obama footage and signed up a few new volunteers. We had lots of signs posted around, & newpaper announcements.
We are hosting informational and voter reg tables at Raleys Supermarket this Saturday and Sunday afternoon, 12-1 and 12-2, in Ukiah and expect to continue tabling around town thru December-January.
On December 10th-we are having an debate party again at Debora's and Terry's 505 Cypress Avenue.
Our Mendocino Coastal and Lake County neighborhoods are going strong-- doing all thatr we do in inland Mendocino County and more.
I was lucky enough to see and hear Barack Wednesday night 11-14 at the Bill Graham in San Francisco.
His speech was excellent- I think it was patterned after Des Moines Jefferson Day speech of a week back.
When he went around the front of the audience, I was 3 deep from the front--guess that it where the
Seccet Service pushes back. Right after I got pushed, I looked up and guess who I had smiling eye contact with -- BO! you got it!!!
The Mendocino Lake Counties part of CD 1 is getting organized- Kim Mack- in charge of CA CDs 1-5-- trained 10 of us here in Ukiah yesterday. Great people to work with.
I need five people to donate $20 each by Friday 11/9 AM-- through my site.
I am on the GrassRoots Fundraising Committee and committed to raising $1k by
1-1.
By the way - I was honored the other day to be named
Area 2 Coordinator (Lake and Mendocino Counties) in CA Congressional District One. aka the North Coast.
My cohorts are Debra and Susan and folks in Eureka-Arcata--- Yolo--- and Sonoma Counties-
all excellent Obama country.
We are gonna pack the house for Barack on Nov 14 at Bill Graham Auditoruium in San
Francisco------ next Wednesday night!!
I hope to go te South Carolina -- right after Christmas. Used to live in Las Vegas so maybe
Clark County (Las Vegas) is faster to get to.
Great Event! The glossy OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT signs- combo brochures were a
big hit and I loved hawking "Take a sign for Barack Obama--- BARACK OBAMA"
Show your neighbors Ukiah is for Obama-- Barack Obama!!
every 10 seconds in the brillant October sun--------
I live in Obama country - 2hrs n of San Francisco. I want to do this everyday.
There is HOPE! BARACK OBAMA '08-- Feb 5 here in CA!
Met my coworker Robertthis AM in Sonoma County. He fired me up;
Jim Stoepler
Ukiah (Mendocino County) CA
Barack Obama ended his excellent speech last Friday with a story
of a woman in Greenwood SC who told her neighbors, his staff and him
to "fire it up" early one morning not long ago.
I am FIRED UP from both Barack and the crowd on Friday. As he said, we "need a change in
attitude not just a change in parties." Barack is truly a monger of hope and I am sure
glad I got to see him.
We need to swell our ranks-- what a great movement to be part of!
Ukiah- Mendocino County
In Ukiah, the party faithful gathered for a picnic yesterday 9-3-07. A straw vote was taken. Results were Edwards 31; Obama 20, Clinton 20, Gore 1. My question: are some No Cal union members like the SEIU and CA Teachers reluctant to take a chance on real change? Younger people sure seem ready! We need both the SEIU and the CTA!!
Barack in San Francisco Friday Sept 7!! Anybody need a ride form Mendocino County -101 s to the Golden Gate Friday morning??

Help me work at the public concert-informally-- with T-shirts (all sizes) and position papers
plus the good news from the South Carolina debates----- and more!
746 N Bush St
Ukiah CA 95482
Help me work - in the crowds-- no booth- at this Sunday's 6 PM concert.
I have a new batch of t-shirts on order so I hope that they will get here on time.
If not I have a few left from batch one.
Barack Obama February 5-2008!
I asked if we could set up a table at Saturday Farmers Markets at Alex Thomas Plaza. Answer:
No-- there is a thirty year tradition of no politics.
I have been informally trying to promote Barack Obama at the Sunday-in the- Todd Grove Park Concerts. A majority of people seem to be enthusiastic about Obama as of the third of the six concerts on July 8th! As are the crowds at Ukiah Brewing--- Ukiah's best-by-far pub.
Nearby up in Eureka, the county seat of Humboldt County-- good reception on T-shirts from the crowd at the Fourth of July Old Town Festival. If anyone is going up there, this weekend Edith Watson is sponsoring a Speakers Event at the Cthouse at 825 5th (at I Street) Sat July 14 @ 12 n.
Need an X-L t-shirt? Stop by my house at 746 N. Bush St (Sorry bout the name) in Ukiah. Will be getting some new ones.
PLEASE HELP me at the Todd Grove Park Concert Sunday evening July 22
and/or at the 5th and final concerts August 5th and 19th.
Let me know how we can get more Ukiah people involved. I really don't like it when people at the Park say-- I like your house----- there should be dozens of houses in Ukiah that say Obama '08. I want to join up with you in what has to be a firm Barack Obama county-- Mendocino County, California
July 8 and July 22 at 6 PM. I have free or at cost OBAMA t-shirts
to the convinced and there are many here in Mendocino County CA.
