I submitted a Letter to the Editor in my local newspaper The News & Advance in Lynchburg, Va. Here is the letter to the editor:
Obama’s got a plan I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that the economy is fundamentally strong like John McCain does.
My family is struggling with rising gas prices and rising food prices. How is it that a person doesn’t know how many houses he and his wife own? I own one and am having a hard time keeping up with the taxes we have to pay.
I am thankful that when Barack Obama is elected, my family will get a $1,000 tax cut. I seriously doubt that John McCain will do anything about the high gas prices when he has voted against funding alternatives energy for almost his entire political career.
I personally don’t think that Big Oil needs any tax breaks. I am hopeful that the people in this country will take a serious look at John McCain’s plans for the economy and for energy independence. I also would urge everyone to look into McCain’s voting record where funding for alternative energy is concerned. JENNIFER MAYHEW Rustburg
