I have been dismayed that many of President Obama's supporters, expecting miracles & wanting all they voted for to be passed like yesterday, are criticizing him.
I ask that everyone just remember what the last eight years were like & what things are like now - OMG!
Both the President & First Lady have restored our moral compass in the world.
He has passed a lot of remarkable legislation already with a ton more to come IF we, his supporters, don't turn our backs on him - he NEEDS our support! The other side does quite a nice (!) job of stabbing him in the back at every turn without his supporters adding to the noise!
Please join us on the Peace Corner (SW corner Glades Rd & St Andrews Blvd today from 11:30 AM to 12 and wave those Obama/Biden signs proudly!! We have signs we made up but feel free to bring your own hand made ones.
Also, if you can, there is canvassing today - after the sign waving go to Panera Bread in the Boca Center on Military Trail to get your packets.
There is less then two months until the election - we have to get going!!
I admit it - I'm an adict. I am a political junkie. I TIVO all the news programs and watch them all night, every night. BUT, after hearing about the Palin announcement, I did the happy dance and went about my day doing voter registration assured in the knowledge that this election was in the bag. I came back home, turned on the tv all excited to hear my thoughts reflected on all the news programs - NOT!
The fact that the corporate owned and operated networks have given this inexperienced woman credibility (asked if she was current on the situation in Georgia - she replied that she was - she was then asked if she knew what the capital of Georgia was and she said "It's Atlanta right?"!!) just slams the door on the fact of accurate reporting.
SO, what I am doing, and what I suggest to any of you who, like me, get all upset and can't sleep after hearing this kind of crap, is that you only watch certain news shows. I deleted from my TIVO all news shows except K.O. (of course!), Washington Week on PBS, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Bill Mahr. That's it - period. No more eating my guts out about something that was said on Morning Joe or any of the CNN news shows. No more - period!
There are several for you to choose from! Sign up to attend one and share the excitement with your fellow Obama supporters!
Dina's party is filled but there are at least three others which have room for you to sign up. One is at Duffy's Sports Bar on St. Andrews Blvd in Boca. There is a new party just listed which is at the new restaurant and bar at the Cove - hosted by Dr. Robert Watson's wife. The food & drinks are going to be 50% off!
If you are looking for an event to attend click on events and it isn't listed under our group click on events and put in your zip code - all the events around you are listed for you to chose from.
I watched tonight's faith forum and came away feeling great about my candidate. I also listened to McCain, cringed everytime he said "my friends" (like a million times!), thought his answering every question with a story about his experiences as a prisoner of war was a sympathy ploy, thought his saying the failure of his first marriage was disengenuous and I thought he was a scary guy!
So, then I listened to the commentary afterward and felt like a Martian! What did these people hear that I didn't - what were they not seeing in Obama that I was? I KNOW - the media is corporate owned and operated - I get that - but there were commentarors who usually are a little more balanced saying this stuff and that bothers me.
So, what I came away with is that we have to work twice as hard because our job is made all that more difficult because we are not just trying to beat McCain - we also have to work against the bias in the media.
I hope to see all of you at the Peace Corner (SW corner St Andrews Blvd and Glades Rd - across the street from the Town Center Mall in Boca) this Saturday afternoon from 1-2 PM - wear your Obama tees and buttons and bring those Obama signs for waving proudly for our next President of the United States!!! If you can, come an hour earlier and wave ant-war signs with the Peace Corner group who have been doing that for almost 3 years!
We're on a new and exciting road - the road to the White House! Anyone who has donated, made phone calls, attended any Obama Florida rally come out and wave signs with your fellow Obama supporters. Get to know each other - we'll all be working together for the next several months to insure that our MAGNIFICANT candidate is elected!
Please don't forget the Peace Corner every Saturday from 12-1 PM - I was the only Obama tee-shirt there today.
I'll remember to post it every week but in case I forget one week, this is held EVERY week corner Glades Rd and St. Andrews in Boca across the street from the Town Center mall. Your signs should only be about protesting the war in Iraq (no mention of Obama on the sign) but PLEASE wear your Obama tee-shirts
Also, this Thursday at 12 PM there will be an event at the Peace Corner sponsored by MoveOn.org - this will be held all across the country - there will be press there so again I urge everybody to get to the Peace Corner on Thursday Aprill 24rth at 12PM - NO SIGNS - just wear your Obama tee-shirts. We want a HUGE crowd there for this event as it probably will be on TV - this event is to bring attention to the fact that the war has disrupted our economy. There will be speakers there including an Iraq vet and someone from Congressman Wexler's office - so everybody please show up.
Thanks for all that you do!
Jayne
We will be holding our sign waving at the Peace Corner every Saturday from now until President Obama is sworn into office as the next President of the United States. I will do everything I can to alert the media so that attention will be paid to the Peace Corner again. The dedicated people we are joining there have been doing this for over 2 1/2 years! Every Saturday - 12-1 PM - for over 2 1/2 years! I so admire that committment to their cause - that the war was wrong and that it should end!
Since Obama was against this war from the beginning, one of the Peace Corner group approached me and said it was a natural fit for us to join them. We did that yesterday and it was fantastic. Obviously people agree that the war is a disaster, both financially and morally, as people driving by honk their horns and wave. It is an uplifting experience and I strongly encourage all of you to join us on as many Saturdays as you can. It is only for an hour and it is on a day and time when most can do that.
The only thing the Peace Corner group request of us is that our signs should reflect their message. So, please make big handmade signs that are on message about the Iraq war and Obama - "Obama for Peace" "Obama against war from the start" etc..
I hope all of you were fortunate enough to hear Obama on Morning Joe this morning discussing the "loss" in NH yesterday and his feelings about it. He was magnificant!! I hope they show the interview on the blog so you all can see it. Basically he said that we were behind over 20 points about 6 weeks ago, that the Clintons had a long history in NH and we knew it would be an uphill battle. He is optimistic and SO AM I!!!!!! let's all re-group and get involved. Then Joe Scarborough, a confirmed Republican conservative thanked Obama for what he has brought to the process and how inspiring he thought his speech last night was. I'm running a meeting at my house this Sunday afternoon from 2 PM until we are finished. I have some ideas and I really want to hear yours. So show up - I'll provide drinks and snacks - you bring YOU!!
Also, please everyone go to the Huffington Post and read Arianna Huffington's last few posts - especially the one she posted at 3:49 yesterday afternoon entitled "Portait in Cynicism: Hillary Attacks Obama from Every Angle" it really is something!
Feel free to call me if you have any questions or suggestions regarding the meeting this Sunday - I hope to see a lot of you there!
Try and clear your calendars as much as you are able (I work so I know how that is) because we are going to be posting events very soon to get out the vote in our state.
On the Chris Matthews Show this morning the "Matthews Meter" voted 12-0 that Obama will get the nomination!!!
Florida will count whether our delegates get seated (they will - the candidates have promised to seat them) or not. The media will be out in force - we MUST get the people out - we must show up at our polling places and wave our signs and wear our tshirts and show our support for our fantastic candidate!!
Check in on the group site as often as you can because we might first have a meeting to find out what is the best date and time for the majority of you
Imagine if another country decided that George Bush, like Saddam, was dangerous to the US and the world and therefore decided to invade the U.S. and capture Bush, try and hang him.
Imagine if that country then decided to occupy the US.
Imagine if they decided to go door to door to route out Bush supporters.
Imagine if they put those Bush supporters in prison.
Imagine if they didn't allow those prisoners the right of counsel because they were "terrorists".
Imagine if they decided to stay and control our country even if our Congress and Senate voted for them to leave.
Just imagine!
So many people have created groups that are meeting on Saturday - isn't it exciting? I saw Barack speak last Sunday in West Palm Beach and it was electrifying! When I first decided to support him I thought I was being idealistic and that it was such a long shot that he would be nominated, let alone elected as President. Now, I'm convinced it is going to happen! We are going to get our country back people!!
I created a group that is meeting on Saturday and my brain has been on overdrive thinking up ways that we can work to get this fantastic man elected - I never knew I could be this creative! I can't wait to share my ideas with my group and hopefully with the national campaign.
I hope everyone has sent in a contribution today no matter how small - let's show the country we mean business!
