8 more days to register in MO.
It was a good night. I went out with two new volunteers. We found several
Obama supporters at home. The weather in MO is perfect for walking canvasses.
Get out there and push MO to light blue!
We had a good weekend visiting my neighborhood and learning to be a neighborhood team leader.
John McCain was in my neighborhood having a big rally this weekend. After the event, I went for a walk and found a McCain supporter wandering around lost. She was from IL. I was still wearing my Obama button and she was wearing her red, white, and blue McCain outfit. She was crying, it was hot, so I offered to help her find her car. I got her a soda, and asked her how long she had been outside. 3 1/2 hours. We got in my Obamamobile and found where she parked. It was about a mile away. I got to tell her about my experience at the Edward Jone's Dome with all people of different ages and races together and excited. She hugged me. Great way to end the day reaching out across the aisle to help another person in need, and hopefully convincing someone that we who support Obama are good people too.
I admit at first I was irritated that they were all over my neighborhood, but helping that woman helped change my attitude too.
The expose' style of the last presidential debate was disappointing. While I agree that statements the candidates make should be examined for truth and motivation, I hope that the candidates, press, and the people will now begin to look at the plans and visions our candidates have to improve our future.
Hillary questioning Barack's character is maddening. She, of all people should remember what it is like to have your every move and personal associations questioned. I remember people talking as if the Clinton's actually pushed one of their colleagues to suicide. I personally felt that was a horrible reflection on the people who spread that story. When Hillary asks Barack to justify all of his past friendships, doesn't she realize that her friendships are also questionable? Most of us have friends and have been involved in some way with people who may anger others.
Yes, I do believe Senator Obama has to explain his relationships with controversial people and Senator Clinton should also. But, to pick at this stuff over and over while ignoring the absolutely life threatening problems we have to face, is disastrous. Time is ticking away. Let's get to the meat of the issue. Reviving the economy. Builiding a green infrastructure. Educating the next generation. Ending the war. Let's talk about these kind of things first and foremost.
Do I believe that Obama or Hillary are both reasonable people who have enough strengh of character to be president? Yes. I also would send a warning to Obama too. He can dish it out just as well as Clinton. Don't you get caught up in that trap. Stand up for yourself, but remember you have ideas and visions for a future. We need to hear that!
Why do I support Obama over Clinton? For one, I am so tired of what has happened in the last 10 to 12 years that I want a big change. I am hoping Obama is that change. I like many of his ideas. I read his book, "The Audacity of Hope". That book reveals who Obama is politically and began to sway me towards supporting him. I believe he really wants to do what is best for all of the people. I went to the big rally in St. Louis. Being in a crowd of 20,000 people of all ages and skin colors and economic status who were excited, was a great experience for me. This is why I have chosen to support Obama.
