Dear Mr. President,
I am so dismayed at what is happening with health reform. As I listen and watch, the thought that one Senator, namely, Joe Lieberman, can stop a bill that you and other democrats want, just enfuriates me! Do you, Mr. President have the power to override this one Senator's reluctance? What can you do as President? Can you lower the majority number? How can Republicans say "no" to everything and get away with it? I am so angry because you will be blamed for its failure to go through. Americans want the public option. Aren't you more powerful than Senator Lieberman? I don't understand why the majority rule doesn't apply. What is the law? Surely, The President has some power here. I hope Joe Lieberman can be dismissed from having a vote on anything! Makahalady
I promised myself that I wouldn't tune into Fox Channel again, EVER! Oh well, I think I do it every now and then to see if there's a change and Hannity has repented his relentless attacks on President Obama. It's worse than ever, as of yesterday, Sept.20th. After I listened to President Obama's interviews by the media hosts, I was in a really good mood. I decided to see what Hannity was up to on Fox. As usual, he was downing our president, (what's new?). This time, it had to do with water and the loss of it in the "bread basket" of Ca. and how desperate the farmers are. It seems water is displaced to take care of fish and not irrigating the fields, or something like that. Hannity even interviewed Gov. Schwazenegger and the Gov. said he had not communicated with President Obama. Why not? How else could our president respond? The governor wants to declare Fresno valley, a disaster area. I hope President Obama squelches these latest comments from Sean Hannity and communicates with Governor Schwarzenegger and the suffering farmers in danger of losing crops that all of us need. I also hope Hannity's remarks can be examined. I believe sedition is the name of good ol' Hannity's game. I so want something to be done to keep him off the air. He incites hatred, I'm sure of it!

September 9, 2009, President Obama made a clear presentation to Congress explaining the three goals of his healthcare plan for reform: 1. No one will have to change from the plan he or she has, to anything else. His plan will give security and stability to anyone's plan that is working for him or her. The president's plan will provide insurance for those who do not have a health plan and this is best done by a public option. A public option offered by the government is the best way to have private companies offer competitive plans from which anyone can choose. Right now, both are in effect for seniors. Seniors can choose to keep Medicare and a private insurance at the same time. (At the age of 73, I have both medicare as my primary, parts A,B, and D, and Private United Health to back up Medicare. Private United Health covers me in a retirement plan from my husband's past employer. Currently, private United Health Insurance Co. pays for my medications which would run me about $3000.00 a month if I were not covered. I pay $5.00 copay for each medication. Any procedures I need, such as x-ray or mri or blood work, is covered to a degree by Medicare and the balance, by United Health. A very small balance is left for my copay. I am blessed and happy with my coverage, as is. I do not plan to change. I, also, have a fixed small income. I tutor, and write,to make the extra money I need to live above the survival line. I do not drive, do not have a car, and have simplified my life. It works!
2. The President's plan will provide insurance for those who cannot afford a plan. Again, a public government option, like medicare which is for seniors, will be devised for those in need. (Specifics need to be laid out. This area is the one in which Congress members can put brakes on, add ideas, etc. There is no worry about government take-over if regulations are put in place. ) 3. The president's plan will slow the growth of healthcare cost for all Americans by introducing regulations, (laws) that will be a part of the plan and eliminate: raising rates because of cost of serious illness a.) having a law in place that prevents insurance companies from dropping patients with high costs who are very ill. b.) Insurance companies cannot drop patients or charge more because illness escalates. c.) A cap will be placed on what private companies can charge for services. d.) A public option plan must be non- profit. (President must insist on this plan for all those who do not have insurance for any reason.) The way this reform is paid for, must be included. The amount healthcare will cost if it is not reformed, shall also be explained. Perhaps a side-by-side graph could be made. I don't think the American people are very aware of this factor. The cost of present healthcare will rise, fast and furiously. This must be repeated, often, in a visual aid, as well.
3, The president's plan is already bipartisan because it contains elements from both Democrats and Republicans.
4. These are simple parts of the president's plan, which show he is looking out for the middle class.
5. Those who are lying about this plan shall be called out and charged with sedition. Sedition, as explained in the college edition of the New World Dictionary of American English explains sedition as: "the stirring up of discontent, resistance, or rebellion against the government in power." This must be enforced by law and the Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity persons and their groups that act seditously, must be "called out" and punished according to the sedition laws that exist. If no penalty exists, it must be created. These lying people, including those who have made threatening remarks about President Obama and/or his administration, shall be dealt with according to a new law. (These are very different times than those of Ronald Reagan or other presidents who have been maligned. Pulling out one person may be the way to stop the sea of lies threatening the presidency.) Freedom of speech does not include slander or lies.
I further believe that a simple explanation of the president's plan should be mailed to every American citizen who has a mailing address, just like the stimulus check. The Congress needs this more than any group of citizens. Further, Congress needs to have the person in each party whose contribution is in the president's plan, acknowledged on this list. Further solicitations from Congress should not be made. Plenty of time for this has passed. Plans are now coming out as ego trips or distractions from the president's. Think of our country as one big classroom. Remember the statistics for those who do not pass any test and those who need more repetition along with those who are afraid and do not know how to study. The last are more likely to believe lies. They cannot read or thnk for themselves. From thence comes the birthers, deathers, and Tea Partiers. Only the teacher, (President Obama), can create a lovely tone in the classroom, our country, and Congress. Displaced fear has arisen out of job loss. Our leader is needed more than any president, before.
I further believe that President Obama must step forward with these printed documents and repeat, and repeat, simply what his plan entails, making it clear that sedition will not be tolerated. Very few have the intelligence and abilities of our president I believe what is easy for President Obama to understand, most people do not, unless put in very rudimentary language. The Sept. 9th address did this-still people would rarely pass a test if given right after the speech!

Please, Mr. President, claim the creation of the positive, civil exchange you and you, alone, can demand from Congress and the particular persons I mentioned. You may have to make an example of someone who has committed sedition, such as, Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck. Rush Limbaugh is a college drop-out. I believe he is a coward and will fall in line, knowing penalties for insurrection and lies will be enforced by the first administration to do so. Their behavior shows no respect for you or your office. I am only a teacher, Mr.President, but I believe those who are lying and show no respect for you or your office, must be stopped. This is a different and violent time. However, lies and sedition have always been a part of history. Only, this time, for the sake of your presidency and the United States of America, they must be stopped.

As I have listened, watched, and learned through this election process, I have never been more proud of a candidate than I have, Barack Obama. I was a young, new teacher when President Kennedy was elected. Even then, I did not feel the involvement and excitement I feel right now.
I watch CNN for the political and economic news. I left Fox in the dust of unfair and unbalanced broadcasting, contrary to what they preach. MSNBC has fairness but not the indepth appeal of CNN and I have learned a lot about what heralded the collapses on Wall St. and the suffering of citizens as I watched entire towns board up and homes neglected as "for sale" signs peel and fall in front yards.
It was only today, however, on October 12, 2008, that I understood that the same problem facing each household and pulling it down, is the same philosophy that has affected our country since the Reagan years. That philosophy is wrapped around credit cards that have allowed us to spend and live beyond our means in the same way that our government has. It is the same philosophy that has led our country almost too deeply into debt to pull out without a major change in underlying philosophy. Today is the first day I understood the basic differences between Barack Obama's philosopy and John McCain's. I listened to and watched Fareed Zackaria's show on CNN and listened to 4 economy experts from around the world, one from Columbia University. They were sure Barack Obama would get into the presidency, no matter the distractions, distortions, and lies of the McCain-Palin ticket. They put Barack Obama and John F. Kennedy in the same class, (I knew it all along), and mentioned both with the talent, intelligence, calmness, coolness, and presence that have already been displayed by Barack Obama. They mentioned that we are the world's largest debtor country and must have excellent communication and respect from other countries as we all work together for the global good. We ask other countries to lend us billions of dollars every day and with a new philosophy, must stop that! We must all spend money only for what we need to get us out of this mess! Barack Obama's plans to create new jobs must coincide with the re-building of our infrastructure-immediately, in the first week of office! I can't help thinking that if citizens out of work could fill out a form listing the skills they have, right away, send them in to the Dept. of Labor, they could be gathered and workers would have the feeling of being recognized in a job pool in the first days our new president is in office. There has to be an economic stimulus pkg. right away for families. While not raising taxes, the people must realize that everyine has to share in the load. We need taxes to pay for "musts". Alternate energy resources have to be invested in, right away, to create jobs and reduce the costs of fuel. Everyone must put his house in order, including the government. We cannot afford a war because each life is too precious to be lost for the wrong reasons and, also, because we do not have the money to straighten out the problems in Iraq. We must deploy to Afghanistan and Pakistan with new troops, not returnees who are exhausted. New troops should receive something special for signing up. Education reform and educational packages are a must for our children and our troops! As promised by Senator Obama, every bit of spending must be examined and halted where it is unnecessary in the new order! Barack Obama has said these things, all along. His philosophy and insight are part of the reasons he was so wildly received in Germany and spoken of so highly by other country officials. They knew! They're waiting! Heads of European countries met, today, because of the global crisis. President Bush was not there. President Obama will call the next meeting!
Well, that's about it! As soon as President Obama is in office and has settled down, I will send him my book, Light in the Darkness of Reading Failure, and hope it,s innovations can be used by our government. It is interesting to me that Senator McCain's philosophy is basically very different from Senator Obama's and it was stated so, by these talented men on CNN this morning. McCain-Palin respresent the old...our guy is the new and the way our country will turn around...only with Obama-Biden! I will stop worrying and stop blogging until our next president, President Obama, is in office. Therein lies our hope! In awe, Makahalady.
I was so pleased with Senator Obama's presence and answers in the last debate. Senator McCain looked petulant and grasping as he tried to make his points. One thing I think needs explaining from our Senator: what is this thing about "fines" for small business owners? McCain keeps mentioning it. It seems to me that the new strategies that McCain is using=in the toilet tractics-the persons that are standing up at his most recent rallies are so awful. Could they be planted by McCain? Could this be investigated? Could the re-surgence of "muslim", Ayers, drugs and other lousy stuff be stopped? I must say, I like the new ads that are approved by Senator Obama. They are dignified and cut to the bottom of some of these remarks. I still believe McCain's campaign is planting people in the audience at his and Palin's rallies. They are too angry and too specific about what they are saying!
Millions of voters need simple, straightforward answers to 1. How can they stay in their homes and who will get help with the mortgage crisis? 2. How can those who are out of work get immediate work? What will be done right away when our president is in office?
People want to know immediately what Senator Obama's plans are to help them. Many are uneducated and need specifics in simple, straight-forward language. Edward Lazear is an expert, I think, on what is specifically happening and going to happen in the stock market. Has anyone talked to him? A staffer should see him and try to simplify his message.
Alert today: ACORN and Senator Obama. What is our Senator's connection? 50% of the registered voters they passed are dead or just signed with signatures that are alike. They say the card is filled out the same, signature is the same, and a big mess that I am sure will tried to be connected to Senator Obama. Please get on this right away, staffers! The volume is tremendous with fraudulant signatures and persons. Who has done this? ACORN is in big trouble! Brian Moller is the lawyer for ACORN and it has surfaced that $800,000 was given by the Obama campaign to this organization. Moller claims innocence. Can he be contacted? A lot of the ACORN offices in states are closed. I suggest announcement of some sort to be made via an ad. to explain the position we have. Today, October 5, 2008, I did something I promised myself I would not do. I tuned in briefly to Hannity's America and felt a bit sick! Is Senator Obama aware of the vile re-runs of Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, and Rusco? (sp.)?? making it seem as if Senator Obama is doing something with these guys? Palin's remarks on Ayers, also, when seen by the media, were that Senator Obama was pals with Ayers, now! The smear campaign has begun! Can't it be stopped? I am so afraid it will affect some voters and fill them with fear! I noticed the remarks aimed at Jewish voters-probably in Florida to get Florida's votes for McCain. I am sure now that Fox is Republican-Sean Hannity certainly is. Fox is far from fair and balanced! Please send me an encouraging email to powellj025@hawaii.rr.com. I have been so upset by this! I am 72 and have campaigned in my own way on bus trips, in the mall, and everywhere I go. I wear a big Obama campaign button! I am disabled with several arthritic conditions and must rest or I would do more for Senator Obama...I am sold on him for the presidency and hope that a staffer will email me and lift the fear I have re. any harm our campaign can receive. I can't physically afford to get this upset. I cannot do as much as I would like for Senator Obama and Joe Biden...I tutor and write and hope and pray...I believe in Senator Obama and Senator Biden. Please plan to do something Tuesday...to stop this awful stuff. Could writing to the heads of Fox stop Hannity! I can't look at him any more.
I will be watching the debate on Tuesday at 3p.m., Hawaii time. I hope and pray that our Senator Obama and Joe Biden will firmly take care of the smears. If there is any way to get a tape of today's Hannity's America, please do! I could not watch it all the way through. It beat any horror movie I have ever seen and I had to turn away from it. I am angry at the lies from McCain and Palin about the tax issue. They keep saying that Senator Obama will raise taxes for Americans making $42,000 a year. That is not true and must be corrected! I found out that figure has something to do with a budget. Please cover the truth because a lot of workers do not listen to all the news about the truth. Please ask Senator Obama to quote the numbers of out of work people. How will they be helped, specifically?
I am so proud to be campaigning for Obama every day. People notice my very large button that says, "I like Obama. Is America ready for a president with a brain?" I will be at Makaha Resosrt today, sporting my button and talking about Senator Obama. I know staffers read the blogs and am confident that Senator Obama is smarter than this tutu and will come on, aggressively, and I hope John McCain loses his temper while our leader stays cool!
Also, what steps will Senator Obama take and when will he start climbing them to get the jobs going for middle America and attacking the economical mess we are in? Please have him explain why he voted yes on the bill that has just been approved for $700billion in bail-outs for big companies. I know his reasons were on behalf of the suffering midddle-class Americans and this has to be briefly explained in a manner that gets rid of fear and inspires hope for millions of Americans! Please help him remark about the ravages in our country from the storms and how he will initiate help for the afflicted. Please have him tell why he did not vote for the war, did not agree with the surge, and what will be done about troops in Afghanistan and Pakistan borders, knowing that our enemy hides in those mountains!

Now...about this mess with the meltdown and the worries of the middle class. No one has put into the language that the uneducated middle class or college students or immigrants that are now worried about their little bits of money-savings and checking accts, mostly- in the bank. Are they safe? Are their retirement accounts safe? Are their piggy banks safe? An unreasonable (according to some) fear is gripping the middle class. A lot of the blue collared workers do not understand what is happening and why the big companies are being helped when their homes are full of mud from flooding, under water from failed dikes and the mess our infrastructure is in without even talking about food, clothing, jobs. Who is going to calm their fears by explaining to them any connection with rich Republicans or investments of a lot of money that they have never had. How are they going to keep going in the stressful situation we are all in? They need their emotions calmed and the bickering stopped! THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE THIS!
We need our leader, Barack Obama, to sit down in front of the cameras and make a video about the "small citizens"...to talk to us, the elderly living on social security, etc., ??? If this can be done by Senator Obama, it will make election, a landslide for us!!!
I watched Senator Obama do a little of this in his Reno address...we need more! Beat McCain to the punch. He is a multi-millionaire thanks to Cindy and is used to relating to the rich. His 13 cars and more than 7 homes puts him in a life-style that many of us have never known.
What will America look like for the next year? What kind of jobs will be lost? What about Christmas? A young Emery college professor kind of did this this morning- a short sound byte.

Senator McCain has underestimated Senator Obama's strength. Today, news from the location of the debates is how much money, in the millions, has been spent to get ready for the debate that threatens McCain even further. So many disappointed volunteers who have worked so hard at ol'Miss in anticipation of the event.
If McCain backs out OF FRIDAY NIGHT DEBATE, even with the solution up for final signing of the proposal for the American economy and the economy around the world,...I think:
SENATOR OBAMA SHOULD STILL GO TO MISSISSIPPI AND ADDRESS THE NATION. ONLY 1 PODIUM WILL BE OCCUPIED AND THAT IS BY THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!
PLEASE THINK ABOUT THIS! PLEASE DON'T LET MCCAIN KNOW ABOUT THIS IF IT IS AT ALL POSSIBLE-OR AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE. WE ALREADY KNOW HE IS STEALING OUR THUNDER WHENEVER HE CAN!

As requested, I sent editorials to the important Hawaii papers and several out of state. Today, my editorial appeared in the first paper, The Honolulu Star Bulletin, as follows: "Obama-Biden will Provide Leadership: Barack Obama and Joe Biden represent intelligence returning to the White House. They also represent the kind of experience with hard work, family and the basic tenets of the Democratic Party that have been lost in a sea of corruption and greed. They will enact major changes in personnel with leadership positions around the presidential office. Obama graduated from Columbia and Harvard Law School, magna cum laude. He represents the link to the young minds and energetic abilities of a new generation. He knows what it takes to lead whole communities of the discouraged in a "help myself" direction. This is the essence of America today, from the storm-ravaged states tharough major citis'infrastructure. He's a leader in every sense of the word!
Joe Biden knows about family struggle. He is from a middle-class family, lost his wife and baby girl in an accident that seriously injured his sons. He learned how to be a single parent and became strong through this adversity. He will know how to assist President Obama with foreign relations decisions because of his experience in this area.
Together, this honest, hardworking team promise their devotion to the American people and offer security and a new direction for our country that is so desperately needed." Janet Powell, Waianae.

I am praying that our Senator is entering the ring, the (Debates), with short, quick punches to questions! All the hard work of the last two years is hanging in the balance and the butterflies in my stomach are giving me a rough time as I wait for Friday's fight.
Our nation's eyes wisll be on this one between our champion candidate for the presidency, tops in courtroom training, and the challenger with 26 years of temper-tantrums in his corner!McCain is in his element when he talks about fighting. You can be sure he will be ready with years of experience throwing his best punches and insults at Senator Obama, trying his best to knock Senator Obama down. With low blows, he hopes to win the fight of fights. Senator Obama must be cool, at ease, well-prepared with short, clear answers to anything about the economy, remembering that he needs about 50 electoral college votes.
McCain is bragging about his economic policy and sneering that Senator Obama doesn't even have a plan. This has to be knocked down, big time! The war in Iraq will be brought up and McCain will pull a "I'm the best to be Commander-in-Chief". The truth is that he has no experience with this kind of leadership. I think it is important that the nation know about Senator Obama's style and how he will make up his cabinet-with the best authorities to supply input before a decision is made that requires long term committment. Short-term "fix-its" will always be at hand. Different timing for different decisions. Our champion must not be caught off guard but keep on the offense. Expect trouble and be prepared for all the answers that will satisfy the audience. The big question from the audience is always, "What's in it for me?" We need a knock-out on Friday! Because I am disabled with several arthritic conditions, I spend more time "down" than is usual for me. I avidly watch news about the elections, now, staying away from the terribly biased, (Republican), Fox channel and waffling between CNN and MSNBC, What has emerged are the facts that prove Senator Obama thinks, carefully, brilliantly, and is able to relate to both the global and "focused for the country" policies.
On the war in Iraq, Senator Obama has been critized for not admitting that the surge worked. He was Right! It is clear that the terrorists scurried to the mountains of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran, with plenty of time to regroup as we bombed the heck out of Iraq and sent massive amounts of troops to Iraq in the so-called surge. I believe they took some of the nuclear possibilities with them! Anywhere we sent that many of the best army in the world, violence would be stopped! Senator Obama maintained that the enemy had retreated to the countries that are now showing the new front for war. He was right! We don't have the money to keep sending much out of our country. The billions of dollars per month that are draining funds for our homeland and increasing our debts, especially to China, are already at a point of no return. The leaders who know about diplomacy, Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell, were part of a panel that was leaning to the kind of diplomacy that Senator Obama has been talking about since his trip overseas. (CNN-tape should be available for review) He was Right! John McCain's answer is war, as displayed by his claims, "I know how to win wars, I know how to win wars!" In his inability to gain the respect, admiration and hope that Senator Obama obtained in his trip overseas, McCain could not get countries to take their part in Global healing. I believe these former allies would be so upset at the Palin/McCain ticket, (as Palin called it), that they would turn their backs on us. Senator Obama's call is for most of our boys' return from Iraq and regrouping for minimal, specialized troops in Afghanistan and Pakistan after negotiations with those countries. He was right! There is no dishonor in regrouping our military for global and homeland security. We need a president who thinks and can get our allies to pitch in to help with everything involving global interests. This includes the financial crisis we are in. I am sure it will take special attributes to approach CEO's who have creamed millions of dollars off the tops of the failed corporations, both in retirement or on being fired, or whatever, to accept a surcharge to help us. Senator Obama has those attributes! I know he will gather the experts in each field around the conference table before attacking any problem. He has shown that he prefers this approach. He is right!
Finally, our homeland is shattered from storms and poor leadership. Now is the time for Senator Obama to carefully approach the presidential debates and unseat McCain, with his strength of purpose. His bipartisan approach to solving our homeland crises shows who puts country first. McCain did not even shorten his stride in pushing his attack on our man because he is so old and out of touch with the technological era that he cannot possibly see that this is the confusion that usually occurs before major change, only this time, it's worse! No response to this crisis on behalf of the American people. Our country is the people! Since marrying Cindy, McCain has lived the rich life. I am sure he has not had to think about money management for a long time, if,ever! The son of an Admiral who was the son of an Admiral? There is always a weak link in a chain! Our man's plans, carefully made, are right for the American people! He knows what struggle is all about! The core issues in our finanacial crisis have to be addressed. McCain's temper is showing! He cannot get a grasp on these massive problems, especially, when trying to memorize what his advisors have told him. Liars, however, are used to having glib answers and McCain is a proven liar, going back to his first marriage and even further back in his life! Our super lawyer can trip him up and get his temper tantrums to show. The same goes for Senator Biden in his debate with Gov. Palin. Go, team!
Our country depends on victory for us in these debates. There is no alternative. Senator Obama, we need you! Prayers are with you! When McCain pounds the podium and shows his temper, stay presidential because you are!!! Take the roll of a parent chastising his son who has done so much, wrong! Please talk to James Carville, as well. He is a very smart man. He looks to young voters and believes they are the key to really open up this election. Please confer with him about this. Trust your efforts, Mr. President, in your abilities as a fine lawyer. The alternative lets us all, down, especially the over 4000 young men who died for the honor of our country!
I believe Senator Obama will break through the blue collar workers when they realize that:
1. Right away, at three in the morning, Senator Obama will sign a bill giving the American people a stimulus package of $1000.00 as promised. That will come at the right time to cover the heating costs for homes on the east coast and in Pennsylvania, etc. That move alone will help blue collar collar workers hope for their futures!
2. Barack Obama is patient, prudent, and well-received in Europe and the middle east. He will not push a red button at three in the morning or at any other time, just to prove he can win wars, "I Know How to Win Wars". as John McCain has said. John McCain has a bull-dog side to his personality! He would attack without thought, with no consideration for 1 of our boys on the front line. Just as with Bush's decision to war for oil, short sight about the future will hurt our country, terribly, as our economy is trying to right itself.
3. At three in the morning, Barack Obama will be meeting with key advisers to help rebuild the devastated states hit so hard by Ike. We are still behind in recovery efforts for Katrina. We need to pull our boys home and stop the outflow of billions of dollars for war in a country that needs to take care of itself. Senator Obama originally saw where the problems were and that influenced his judgment regarding the inneffectiveness of the surge. Sunnis are angry again and the uprising in Iraq will not end. We need to take action and put our money to use for our citizens! Americans will applaud efforts to take care of our homeland. We need to enlist our allies to help with the problems in Pakistan and Afghanistan. We need to negotiate with Iran to calm her down. These are all the words of our Senator, (praphrased), who has the vision for America that will solve our inner turmoil with the devastation of investors' interests in the failure of the major companies involved in the melt-down. The position Senator Obama has on taxes needs to resound through our land. McCain continues to lie. Are there other plans to raise money to help the middle class? Some citizens worry that the tax issue will not be enough.
4. This teacher has written a text that I will send to Senator Obama. It has the time-tested procedures to teach our preschoolers who are touted as unprepared for class. No testing is involved with the teaching methods the U.S. government advised me to study when I was a pilot teacher with HeadStart. As a learning disabilities delegate to Russia and Lithuania before I wrote my book, Light in the Darkness of Reading Failure, I saw the teaching methods in elite Moscow schools that influenced some of the procedures in my book. Teaching in New Zealand for six years gave me insight into procedures that I have successfully used in Hawaii. Education needs to be strongly in place starting in preschools. At three in the morning, I finished the text for teachers and parents interested in teaching reading. Barack Obama is vitally interested in improving U.S. schools. Head Start was the beginning. That's the level that will change our system.
5. I'm headed to Honolulu on Saturday to help at the Obama Headquarters. I have donated by mail, the old fashioned way, and continue to sport my very large button that opens the door to questions on The Bus, my mode of transportation. Aloha! 54 year low in the stock market and buckets of bail-outs for big companies has prompted McCain to almost feverishly make hollow promises to voters regarding the position our country is in right now. There is no comparison between our Senator Obama, who is so supremely intelligent, and Senator McCain, who is about as bright as President Bush! Both Republicans are chronic liars who have tried to make up for their incompetence by lying. This glibness does not just occur when one becomes an adult. It is said that if we do something 21 times, it becomes a habit.
On CNN's two hour special called "Obama and McCain Revealed", It's obvious that McCain came from a powerful father and grandfather. Often, when a son does not have the abilities or intelligence of the father, he develops the habit of lying to cover up inadequacies. McCain's dismal performance in The Naval Academy and his equally flawed abilities as a pilot, caused huge bumps in his career. He lost two planes through pilot error, (documented), and I am convinced he was shot down from the same poor judgment. One scene in his revelation on CNN, showed that he studied so little, he could not find the lever to eject from his seat when he was in the ocean inside a plane! Forced to grope around, he finally surfaced!
I'm waiting to again see an ad on television paid for by an Admiral who was in the same p.o.w camp as McCain. He wanted voters to know about McCain's real personality and temper. It wasn't good. McCain has a violent temper. Maybe some of our Senator's campaign people can find this and use it as part of an ad.
I mention this because I am concerned about the presidential debate. Chronic liars and cheaters, (I refer to McCain's statement about the affairs he had when still married to his first wife), are able to think ahead of the dialogue when it is in play. They don't listen to all that an opponent says. They are busy devising lies to seem strong. With this cunning ability, they can easily unseat and confuse an honest person who does not have a lying habit. Any honest person is usually a little naive about the habits of chronic liars, like Bush and McCain. Therefore, it is extremely important that our Senator be prepared for the upcoming debate. I also hope that Senator Obama will find a way to really anger McCain. If that happens, I feel sure McCain will show that side of his personality that is out of control. This is the great danger in McCain being president. Also, McCain loves war because he can't think well enough to negotiate. If he makes it to the presidency, war will escalate and our boys will be killed in great numbers. Secondly, repair of our infrastructure, so badly needed, will be set aside because of "no" money! I will be praying for Senator Obama and his ability to unseat McCain in the debate. I also think the beautiful plans laid out so well on this site, need to be given out to each voter at every rally! Today has been a Wall Street Blow-Up! Middle Class Americans want to know what our candidate is going to do about it. I am praying that Senator Obama will stick to the high road and regain his footing there! Nobody likes to listen to complaints about McCain except about lies concerning Senator Obama's record, etc. Blatant lies need to be exposed but must not take up a lot of time when talking to Americans! Everyone wants to hear about the plans Senator Obama has for every issue; plans that make sense and that will give us some hope about our futures. McCain and Palin are in sinc about war. It looks as if we will be expanding the front if they get in office. I think that fact should be given to the people and explained well! Plans have to be laid at middle class America's feet in as simple terms as they can be. Our country is in so much debt-9 trillion, I think. How are we going to get out of it? We are so rich in natural gas. Can Senator Obama be specific about plans regarding this? How are we going to start doing all the economic plans Senator Obama outlines? What about the housing market? What plan will begin to fix it? Will Senator Obama please clearly state his plans regarding taxes? McCain has an ad out saying Senator Obama will raise all taxes. This is a lie and must be addressed. It would be great to bring this up in the debate-ferociously-forcing McCain to show his temper!
Palin said, today, that Senator Obama plans to raise payroll taxes, all taxes, etc. Please straighten this out with all those who are campaigning for us, namely, Senator Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden. Can Bill Clinton write simple answers to begin solving the economic dilemma as president? I think his experience and success with economical issues would help make this clear. WHOEVER STATES PLANS CLEARLY FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS AMERICANS WILL WIN THIS ELECTION! DAVID GERGEN IS THE ANALYST WHO CAN HELP MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR SENATOR OBAMA! I see the faces of Americans while candidates are speaking. While the comments about Senator McCain are being made, faces look straight and, perhaps, bored. As soon as speakers talk about solving problems, faces change, often smiling and clapping. Well?
Regulation and Free market...What are the plans regarding these issues? I could go on and on but the point is that plans have to be clearly laid out! If just a little is told to inspire hope, that's enough.
Ed Schultz, an analyst that is on CNN a lot, needs to be consulted and asked what he thinks about all the issues. It is scarey out there! The analyst I respect most, David Gergen, needs to be contacted by Senator Obama. He says this is the turning point of the campaigns and advises the high road for Obama. McCain is a liar by nature and if Senator Obama can hit a nerve in the debate, he may lose his temper. That part of his nature is being exposed by another p.o.w. who knows what it was like in the camp. McCain is a cheater and a liar and does so with ease...Obama must be strong and win that debate with pertinent information on the issues. There must be no lying on our side and no inuendos! I don't know how to record it on this site but I campaign every day with neighbors, on the bus, and even in stores with my big Obama button on. It says, "I like Senator Obama. Just about anything! Instead of running on plans that are his own, McCain has cheated by taking Senator Obama's message of change. If this were done by a student in any class I teach, there would be a penalty. When he was on The View, he was confronted with lies evident in his desperate, new ads. Without explanation, he maintained he did not lie. Then, his wife came out. Instead of answering questions about how many homes they had, she was prepared with the answer, "That has nothing to do with our campaign." How can they keep running as First Couple in the land? I am astounded at the blatancy they show! Do they think Americans are stupid?
If I were a Republican, I would be crossing party lines and voting for Barack Obama. If lying and dishonor are part of McCain's persona, what could anyone expect of him as President except more of the same? All the world is watching! Is anyone going to believe him after such a biography of deceipt and cheating? When asked about his cheating on his first wife who was disabled, he said, "I take full responsibility." Why, because he was caught? What excuses does he continue to give his wife, Cindy? Can she ever trust such a man?

Well, here we go again! The lipstick and pig comment has been heartily grabbed by the Republicans and kicked up a ratch to make this look more like a highschool contest than a serious race for the most important job in the world. In the world of the media, if there are 14 hours of news time and 13 are lost with this kind of patter, that means less time spent on something worthwhile that helps us win! I noticed McCain's body language this morning. It was smug! He is up a few points here and there in the pols and this deserves our attention much more than lipstick! Women can sometimes be fickle, but in June, our campaign was up fifteen points. I'm beginning to get a little worried! Anytime one is on the defense, one cannot be on the offense. A point I'm learning well as I watch my college grandsons playing football. Our Senator must stay on the high road if he is to win. The issues will do this if we stick to them! We all will win when that happens! CNN and Fox are going to town with this latest distraction. Fox will be interviewing some of the democratic strategists this morning, (I'm 6 hours behind Eastern) and Stephanie Cutter is on now with Shepard Smith, one of the few show hosts on Fox that I admire. McCain campaign has a lot of practice doing dirty and Stanford mentioned a spiral down for us because of the weakening of our message! Stephanie had that shrill, fast patter that sounds like typing on an old typewriter and, essentially, belongs to the bevy of beautiful, young, blondes both campaigns have on staff. She isn't old enough to see the danger. McCain's comments are soft, today, and he is playing the victim. Jill Hazelbaker from McCain's campaign is denying the jabs that are putting the democrats on defensive. 69% of undecided's votes are registering on the pols in republican favor...I am so angry from seeing this growth that I cannot remember what part of the pols is reflected in this surge! The Republicans are laughing at us. They won a big hike!!! Worse than the lipstick comment from our leader is the anger of Carol Fowler who should be fired! She said that the primary qualification that Palin has for V.P. is that she has not had an abortion! Whoa! We are in the ugly mess of old-time politics! How will we recover? There has to be a huddle of strategists and I think we need David Gergen to be the coach! He is the honorable senior political analyst for CNN and he hoped this situation would not happen. Please consult him, young campaign leaders! There are only a few weeks left. We have to be very careful about what comes out of our mouths. This is Republican strategy that is going to be tried again. Senator Obama has worked too hard and is the right choice for presidency, bringing the democratic party into force again! What a shame if we lose this in the last few weeks of a campaign because of emotions instead of facts. This is your Nana speaking in Hawaii. Lately, I have felt off-balance with the emergence of Sara Palin. John McCain has stood by her side, grinning widely, as he blatantly stole the long campaign motto of Senator Obama and made it his. He is reverting to a "cheat sheet" the same way he did all through his life, dating from his antics at the Naval Academy, through his poor record study in his flying days, resulting in the loss of at least two planes to pilot error. I have never believed this guy is honorable. He was just caught and locked up for five years. His time in captivity put his cheating on hold. When he returned to his wife, that cheating habit returned. It has raised its ugly head in this campaign! He has capitalized on his captivity and glorified himself to the nth degree. Now, without hesitation, he has flipped to the Obama message of change. This see-saw makes me dizzy! I sense a shock-wave rippling through all of us who think this is too important a job to resort to such antics.
Governor Palin has not talked to reporters and this is the clear indication that the new campaign strategy for Senator McCain has been to throw Senator Obama and Joe Biden off balance. Responding to this move in the way Republicans want, seems to be happening. CNN commentators believe that Senator Obama should stay above the Palin controversy and concentrate on McCain. It is seen as a "lowering" of Senator Obama's position to engage in any acknowledgment of Palin, at all. I tend to agree. This is Joe Biden's job. Senator Biden needs to study the issues, thoroughly, cleverly, and have a plan for his debate with Palin. She is sequestered and studying now. Senator Obama has a lot to do to take care of McCain and unsettle his grin! McCain has never seemed so happy at any time in this race. He becomes forceful in a few moves after Palin speaks. I cannot help but liken his behavior to that of a gorilla, pounding his chest and thinking he is Lord of the jungle!
Now is the time for our Senator Obama to review the issues, rehearse every possible answer to any question that comes up, just like when he was leading his class at Harvard. He can unsettle McCain and bring out the temper McCain is so famous for and who shows it to those who have worked with him and I believe, his family. Who wants a hot head as Commander-in-Chief?Something about the way Cindy walks behind him, bothers me. She is docile and he never puts his arm around her or guides her up and down steps. I'm sure she has seen the dark side of his temper! McCain has not changed. This is his weak spot. Also, he is keen to go to war. He gets very excited when he talks about it. He wants to prove he can win one! He says he knows how! Heaven help us all if he gets to the Presidency. Other mothers must find out about this!
With so few weeks left in this race, the debate between Senator McCain and Senator Obama is the most important courtroom appearance for Senator Obama, a top lawyer, in defense of his most famous client, himself. There will be no time to reload, rewrite, or hesitate. Our Senator Obama cannot afford to stammer, hesitate or be caught off guard! I have seen him when his confidence and command is without question. He is very presidential. When Senator Obama debates Senator McCain, he must be fully balanced and rested. Our country is at stake. Issues must be clearly explained and defended. All of them! McCain says that Senator Obama voted against money for the troops and against the surge. As a mother and grandmother, I believe Senator Obama voted against the loss of one American soldier's life and against the escalation. How many lives were lost after the surge or before? What count is acceptable, John McCain,... how many boys never to live out their lives? What exactly is John McCain's record? In 26 years in the Senate? That means each of our lives and the lives of generations to come! Why is Senator Obama ready to answer that call at three in the morning? Bringing the subject up before the attack is good strategy if the answer will be a tremendous one! Everything is riding on the few weeks left. God bless Senator Obama and in so doing, bless America! News today was all about Sarah Palin until Bob Woodward talked about Bush's administration and the contents of his book, "The War Within". I was fascinated because the position of Commander-in-Chief has not come up! Apparently, Bob Woodward was an insider who knew what was going on in the inner sanctum of Bush's office regarding matters of the Iraq war. The President acknowledged at some point that it was in a mess. Woodward said that Bush missed meetings with his military heads and failed to lead before the surge. McCain said he wanted more troops all the time and was not listened to about the war. It brought to mind how he kept saying, "I know how to win wars. I know how to win wars. I believe he will escalate and bungle war efforts just like Bush, if he wins the presidency. That simply must not happen! Our sons and grandsons must not be drafted and I believe that will be reinstated by McCain if he becomes president. He likes war and desires to make his mark. That must not happen!
Who pays the price for war? We all know the answer. Senator Obama must be ready to talk about his role of commander-in-chief and how he is going to lead our country to peace, not war! That will take the spotlight off of Sarah Palin! She could not possibly fill that role. I know that Senator Obama was against the war in the first place and I think this must be explained to the American people who need to understand Senator Obama's position with the war, thoroughly. It is based on the Sunni movement before the surge and their willingness to help the U.S. I think it must be explained about the Taliban moving to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran. Who knows that we have military helping the Pakistani to train and that we need to move our troops to hunt the real terrorists where they are holed up, today? Senator Obama needs to have the explanation and state what he will do when he is Commander-in-Chief. How will he lead in peace? How will he renew relations with allies to help in this effort? What will be his position in meeting with his Generals and Chiefs of Staff? Bush has not done a good job of this. No one is talking about it. Meanwhile, somebody's son or daughter is being killed! Must it go on in Iraq?
I believe there is a lot of information in Woodward's book that needs to be examined by campaiagn strategists and capsulized for Senator Obama. The mention of the studies at Columbia should some way be brought up. Joe Biden needs to help with this vital issue that affects the lives of so many innocent people! The position of Commander-in-Chief has been neglected by Bush. Where can more information be? "The War Within" is a good start! Makahalady.
