My Birthday is on October 3rd. Instead of throwing a party and accepting gifts and hugs from my friends and family, I am going to travel to Reno, Nevada and work for the Barack Obama campaign. Nevada is a swing state and we have a real chance to make it a Democratic win for Obama on November 4th. I write to you today to ask that you donate to Barack Obama as birthday present to me. If you planned on taking me out for drinks to celebrate, how about donating that $5-$10 the Obama for President campaign instead? If you wanted to take me to lunch or dinner to celebrate my birthday how about contributing that $15-$50 to help Senator Obama become President Obama? If you planned on buying me an ipod or a new car send that $300 - $30,000 to the Obama for President campaign :-D I set a modest goal of $1000 but I know my friends and family are more generous than that. I'll be celebrating my birthday this year on November 4th when Barack Obama is elected the next President of the United States and again on January 19th when he is inaugurated.
Join me in supporting Barack by making a donation to my personal fundraising page:

The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream
I am listening to this book on CD, and now I see why the opposition has to make up stuff about Barack Obama in order to get at him. He has laid out all of his ideals and visions on all of the important issues of today and in his life in this book. It is a wonderful first-person account of how a person becomes and senator and what exactly a senator does. It is also a manifesto of how Barack Obama sees the world and this country, where it's been and where it could go in the future.
Senator Obama's lays out his ideals, insights and stances on everything, are all he is truly an open book.
I especially love that it is read in his own voice. When he speaks of his visits with President Bush and Senator Bird, he gives a slight hint of doing an impression of both men. good stuff.
ALSO: An interesting article on the electric car GM is building http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200807/general-motors/
I sent this idea to the campaign today,
An idea to help the US auto industry:
Ford and General Motors took a gamble that Americans would prefer larger safer cars. That worked for a while and now they are stuck when gas prices spiked and regular folks are looking to smaller less gas dependant vehicles.
The Federal Government supports many fleets of vehicles, the most visible of those being the fleet of the United States Postal Service. I propose, the next President of the United States contract with Ford and General Motors to remake that fleet of vehicles to a new hybrid, hydrogen, biofuel or even solar driven fleet. Just as the Jeep and the Hummer grew from the ranks of the military to become popular civilian cars; the new millennium postal car could become the errand runner and commuter car of tomorrow.
