Fellow Dallas Obamans

Here are the event details:
Obama Dallas has setup a Virtual Phone Bank to help get the word out about Obama and find other volunteers willing to lend their voice and time to the campaign. A Virtual Phone Bank is something you can do from your own home at your own time.
To access the virtual phone bank, you will be given a login and password to a website. Once you login, the phone bank will give you the number you need to call, whom you are speaking to, and what to ask them. You will also have a section to input the person's responses.
Those who signup will be contacted through email on how to access the system.
All calls made will be local to Dallas County.
If you do not wish to use your own phone, phones will be available at Obama Dallas that you can call from.
Let's make Dallas a shining blue beacon of Change!
If you would prefer to not use your own phone, check out the event Coordinated Phonebanking
A Republican thought he would be helpful by putting up the billboard in the below link. Both parties have stated the billboard is inappropriate.

A few years ago when I was driving out of Austin towards Dallas, I saw someone had setup a billboard saying "What will you do when United Nation troops occupy the US?" When I went down the State Convention, the billboard was gone though.
Wonder if that fellow moved to Florida?
Salon.com posted an very interesting article about how the Obama campaign uses multiple sources of combined data to get more targetted communication methods. While some may find the idea that consumer data is helping drive emails and other communications, it should be no surprise. That is how lots of companies determine to whom they send their own advertisements to in the mail or email. As a Database Administrator, it is nice to see that the Obama campaign is embracing such techology.

Hopefully, this will help them get to the White House. If not, the next article on this topic after November 4th will be how they got lost in all the myriad of data and were not able to exploit it successfully.
I have setup a group on my.barackobama.com for Texas Precinct 1133 to help fellow Obama supporters in this under-represented precinct locate each other. We are also looking for people willing to help with voter registration, get out the vote, and other activities to make sure our precinct gets Obama one step closer to the White House. The group can be reached at the below link:

Precinct 1133 is located in Dallas around Presbyterian Hospital. The precint is large in geography, but has been decimated in registered voters over the past year. I say this because the majority of apartment buildings that used to be here have been torn down in preparation of the expansion of Presbyterian Hospital and opening of other medical-related offices and facilities nearby. All that remains are 3 retirement homes, 3 apartments complexes, 1 condominium, and a lot of empty land.
Because residents were told that the apartment buildings were going to be torn down in the area, most have since moved away. The apartment complex that I live in appears to have had almost 100% turnover in the past year and half. Now that it has become clear that the remaining apartments are not going anywhere, residents have moved back in. However, as the Texas Voter File shows, most of these residents are not registered to vote yet.
A lot of work for the next few months. I'll be setting up events on the my.barackobama.com site so those willing to help can volunteer.
