Today was another busy day on the Obama campaign. Today however instead of door knocking and registration, i picked up the phone. I've never called so many people in one day. My task- To invite as many military families as i cold to the nationwide launch of Obama for Veterans.
I had never done anything like this before and i was really surprised at how good a telemarketer i could be. I hope i never go that route but for a few hours for a cause wont doom me. I never realized how many military personnel supported Obama.
In other news, I got wind of the book "Obamanation", from the sounds of it, its a terrible smear job- But i'm gonna read it anyways. How else can you counter such crap without knowing what kind of crap your going to deal with? But anywho, I think one of these days books-a-million is going to discover i've been using them more as a library then a book store :P but in the end they still some of my money- coffee goooood.
Over all i feel very positive about this election. There just feels to be so much support out the y way McCain could win is if some one fudged the elections. There has never been a campaign with such manpower before. I cant wait to see the product of our labor bear fruit. :)
Dang we got more stupidity in the works- brought to you from the McCain camps

I feel bad for those unlucky few to be caught on tape like that.
This add is not only corny, but its a disgusting attack on us the supporters. I will not stand for this, and i hope you guys will not either- Lets beat McCain and his crap hat campaigners. Such ploys will no longer be tolerated by the American people.
Today was a rather interesting. Today was my second day off from work. I wasn’t able to get any volunteer work done last Saturday, so I took the opportunity today to get caught up. Around 5pm I left and met up with Jason or campaign manager and a woman by the name of Karen. We had decided to canvas one of the trailer parks in the area. I was kinda nervous. We weren’t in the better spots of town. I guess you might have called it the slums. A lot of the community facilities were run down, some of the trailers and homes were in similar conditions. Cats and dogs roamed the streets and some yards old toys lay weather beaten and neglected. ...

that add and this add

Just made me cringe. Why would anyone form an educated opinion on such adds? they are just not right. So far this has been a clean race for the most part compared to past races, but unfortunately McCain's crew had to dig up bad political cartoons and goes and brings them to life. Its sad really, they are just disgusting examples and strong reminders McCain is no different from any republican candidate before him. I really found this infuriating....Its one thing to point our REAL flaws, and REAL issues of interest. I could live with that, maybe even learn from it, but no....he had to go so low.
Some people say that McCain himself is not a bad guy, he just hired assholes on his campaign, but if he allows them to work for him, and allows them to pull such stunts, he allows them to represent him just the same. Most people who are voting for McCain seem to only be voting party lines. But for me, I'm not a democrat, I'm not voting party line, I'm voting for Obama- the real candidate of change.
I ask my fellow supporters and campaigner to not waste there time with these adds. I hope we do not counter them with the same level of maturity, or stoop to their level. May we stand strong and resist the temptation, and keep this a clean march to victory.
We are far better then such mudslinging.
-McCain has a pretty cool website for being computer illiterate'- CNN
Yeah McCain's website is starting to get some rather familiar features. A lot of them strikingly similar to our Obama page. They've copied the point system, the blogs just about everything that this site has, except the awesome blue and attractive logo. That's all us still :) wait...oh shit its blue too! Gah!!
That's just not cool man...he had to take the blue...oie. This is actually rather pathetic, but congrats to the Obama Tech guys- they came up with a site that's so cool the idea had to be taken by the other guys.
McCain is a fake and a copy cat...god why do my parents have to be voting for him >_<....
I am a bit disappointed at the moment. Just recently i was updated that Obama had changed stances on fossil fuel and offshore drilling. It's not surprising but still not a move i was jumping for joy about....
Well I'm on my second week after joining the Obama campaign. Last Saturday was short but informative. I had found the temporary Democratic Headquarters and met a guy by the name of Jason. He was the coordinator of our group. Nice guy and he's a pretty good leader. He got me up to speed on the tasks at hand. It was interesting to find that there was no McCain camp anywhere near Jacksonville or even in my county. So at this point in time we are working un-apposed, even the local republicans don’t seem to be organizing much. Aside from that not much happened that day.
It wasn’t until the following Saturday, Today, did I have a chance to actually go out and get some work done. Jason explained to us the various jobs we could do and where we needed to go. We have 40 active members and for every active member there are one or two random members who appear and disappear. More join us every Saturday. At this point in time though, our group isn’t so much advertizing for Obama as we are simply trying to get people registered to vote. With out an opposition I guess that’s a wise move. We have not yet received our signs or our banners, so we are just focusing on getting people to vote in general. At the moment we were neutral. We did not care who voted for what, or why, so long as we got people registered. My partner in crime was a woman by the name of Jennifer. She was cool; she was an illustrator for the Marines. We had some common interests and now we had some common goals we became a rather effective team. I was really nervous heading out but she made me feel confident and comfortable. A lot of people appreciated our work, even as we were getting kicked out of the mall by security. Don’t get me wrong- The cop wanted us to stay, but policy said we had to go. When did voter registration become soliciting- I don’t know. In the end we did manage get at least 7 people registered. May not sound like a lot, but every registration was an accomplishment.
Unfortunately there was a damper on my parade. My parents are almost certain they will vote for McCain for the simple fact that he is a republican and they don’t know anything about Obama. My mom made herself clear earlier today. Not only do they know little about him- they don’t want to. My brother is even still on the fence between the two candidates. I just can’t see what make him so appealing to them besides him being a republican. Though I swear no allegiance to either party I often feel like the lone democrat of the family. Regardless how they feel they have not criticized me for my actions and I guess I can’t ask for much more beyond that. I hope to continue being actively involved and see the rest of the way.
What’s there to be said about this stranger? I guess to start off by giving an intro. My name is Robert. I am a student at Coastal Community. I am an artist and an animal lover. I enjoy running my legs, my mouth and my brain. Though I do not claim any loyalty to any party I am referred to as the lone democrat, the hippy, the tree hugger. Some of those titles are more true then others. I've also claimed to be an activist for human rights and environmental protection, but until lately, it’s been an empty claim. I have not volunteered as much as I would like, I have not volunteered for any major events, or joined any huge demonstrations. I have helped here or there, cast a vote but that’s it. I've done more wishing then doing and my goals have been vague and unclear. I haven’t been able to comfortably say I’m doing my part.
Not anymore.
I’ve decided to get to work, and set my goals. Work and school is something that will always be top priority, but never my only. I have decided to set goals and meet them. Some of them are personal, some very vocal. My first major goal is to help stop Amendment 2 in Florida, my home state for the past 6 years before my recent move to North Carolina. Amendment 2 is Florida’s proposition 8 of California- A constitutional ban on gay marriage. It is a distasteful and deceitful ban. My second goal is to help Obama become president. I can hope for a lot from him, but I can’t expect much for McCain.
As for the change I hope for, I guess that should also be specified. Change is a very vague topic. Catchy, but vague. To me, change means to tie up loose ends when it comes to human rights. We claim to be a nation of freedom and equality, yet we still find discrimination in our law and in our government. I speak of the gay community. A minority that only make up 3% of the population, if even that. But even if its only 3%, that’s still almost 9 million people who face inequality and discrimination under the law. I am part of that 3%. I want to insure when my day comes, I want my marriage to always be valid, and my family will always be just as protected under the law as anyone else. When I think of change, I want America to lead the world in the environmental standards and the green movement I want us to be able to force Foreign and Big oil to let go of balls of America as we seek cleaner and sustainable alternative fuels. I want to insure that America maintains if not improves its environmental standards. If a fraction of any of this can be accomplished with the assistance of Obama as president, my efforts will not be in vain. These ideas sound grand, dreamy even.
I sound like a dreamer, I probably am- but get me a cup of coffee and I will get to work.
