Help us make history when Barack Obama accepts the nomination for President of the United States 45 years to the day after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his I Have a Dream speech at the Lincoln Memorial.
If you cannot make it to Denver, please, join us on Tursday, August 28th, 7 pm at the Sideline Sports Grill in Largo, 880 Capital Center Boulevard.
Please, RSVP and donate to Barack's campaign so that we can prepare for all of you. However, entrance will be on a first come, first serve basis. So arrive a little bit before seven to make sure that you will get in.
As the general election campaign is heating up, we need to reach out to all the Obama volunteers from the primary to get them involved again. Please, join us every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night and Sunday afternoons at the Obama Volunteer Office, 1101 Mercantile Lane in Largo, MD to call your friends from the primary. We also have a large list of volunteers that need a phone call. They will be excited to hear from you.
If you need more details, please, look up the events on my.barackobama.com. Otherwise, I am looking forward to seeing you at the Obama Volunteer Office.
Barack Obama wants us to register another 120,000 voters in Virginia. Therefore, we need all hands on deck. Thank you for your help getting the word out.
There is a great new resource on my.barackobama.com that allows you to call Barack Obama's supporters in Maryland to let them know about the Countdown for Change rally at Prince George's Community College.
Scroll down to the my.barackobama.com homepage to Peer Outreach, click "Maryland Countdown for Change" and the campaign will provide you with a message and the phone numbers of other Obama supporters who do not yet know about the rally.
Get together with your friends and host a little phone banking party or take some time by yourself. There is nothing like direct contact to turn people out.
The money you raise will fuel the Barack Obama movement. This might be the last time that Barack Obama will be in Maryland. Buy your own ticket now, bring your friends, and call other Marylanders with my.barackobama.com.
Our campaign neither has representatives nor an organization on the campuses of Bowie State or Prince George's Community College.
If you know staff, faculty, or students at those schools, please, pick up the phone immediately and commit them to help the campaign to advertise Barack Obama's Countdown for Change rally at the Community College.
Please, report the contact information of these supporters to me at hellmut@mac.com or call 301.219.8666.
Barack Obama needs an organization at Bowie State and Prince George's Community College. Your help is essential. If you know anyone, please, call them right away! We have less than a week until the rally.
The Countdown for Change rally at the Prince George's Community College on October 10, 5pm, will be the single most important event in Maryland. If you want to make a difference, you need to step up now.
Most importantly, secure your ticket: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/C2CPG?custom1=Hellmut+Lotz
Your money will fuel the Barack Obama movement to victory. For $25 you will take advantage of the last opportunity of seeing Barack Obama in Maryland. Your school age children may attend for free, which is a great opportunity to witness history in the making.
Second, ask all your friends to come to the rally. If you sell ten adult tickets then you will be able to attend a VIP reception with Barack Obama before the rally. I can set up a special webpage giving you credit for all your sales (e-mail me at hellmut@mac.com NOW).
Third, you can volunteer to advertise this event. We need eighty people on the weekend. And there are new events popping up on my.barackobama.com every day. For example, I will host the fliering of Hyattsville metro station on Thursday night. Micah Watson does the same at the Landover metro station on Wednesday night. There will be other opportunities at Branch Avenue, Suitland, Naylor Road, Greenbelt and New Carrollton metro stations.
Sign up on my.barackobama.com and e-mail Kyle Watkins at kwatkins@barackobama.com to volunteer.
If you are serious about making a difference, now is the time. Your efforts until October 10th will be worth three or four times as much as anything that you might do latter. You will make a difference to the Barack Obama movement. Together we will win.
To promote the Countdown to Change rally, Barack Obama needs eighty volunteers on Saturday, October, 6 and Sunday, October 7. We will be fliering the Redskins game at FedEx Field, churches, and entertainment events.
It will be a lot of fun and a great way to make a difference. Volunteers who put in eight hours or more will meet Barack Obama at a special pre-rally reception reserved to elected officials, fundraisers, and you.
Mark your calendars, stay tuned for the details on mybo and let me know if you are available.
This is the time to make a difference.
Since we are preparing for the Countdown for Change on October 19th at Prince George's Community College, there will be volunteer opportunities almost daily. Be sure to check local events.
The first event will be on Friday at the Hyattsville metro station. Please, see the information below.
If you would like to organize your own event to publicize the rally, like distributing fliers at a metro station or other opportunities, please, send me a message and we can arrange some materials for you.
If you have not bought your ticket yet, please, do so now:

The campaign changed the location of Barack Obama's speech to the Prince George's Community College. The event will be on Wednesday, October 10th at 5:15 pm.
As soon as I know about the exact location on campus, I will let you know. You can also call me at 301.219.8666.
See you there!
Barack Obama will be at Bowie State University on October 10th at 5:15 pm. That's our chance to show America that Maryland is an Obama state.
Stay tuned for more information on the campaign website. Seats will go quickly, so sign up as soon as possible. Students contribute five doillars, regular admission is $25.
After the rally, there will be a fundraiser for big contributors.
In the built-up to the event, there will be many opportunities to volunteer. You can be flyering metro stations with invitations. You can organize a wave that advertises the event in your community during rush hour. If you have a big car then you can go to your senior citizen communities and advertise rides. You can just pick up the phone and invite your friends and family members to attend the event with you. You could even organize a tailgate party.
Whatever you decide to do, my.barackobama.com will help you to do it better. Advertise your events and reach out to your friends on my.barackobama.com and you will garner resources that you did not even know about.
This rally will be a great party.
PS: There is also talk about Michelle Obama coming to Maryland. Make sure you come. Campaigning in fifty states, the Obama family may not be back any time soon.
This is the people's campaign and it needs to be run by people like us. With the resources of the Barack Obama website, we can each put our own campaign plans into action. During this month's meeting, we took a close look at my.barackobama.com. Although I have been campaigning for Barack Obama for several months, I have to admit that I only appreciate the power of that tool since last week.
WIth my.barackobama.com, each one of us can be the campaign manager. Nobody knows our neighborhood better than we do. We write the plan, set the goals, and realize the ideas.
my.barackobama.com helps us to find each other. There are hundreds of Obama supporters from Prince George's County that have signed up already. Build a strong core by inviting your personal friends. Then join all the Obama groups that are relevant to you.
You can join seven different Obama groups just for Prince George's County. The duplication is a side effect of the enthusiasm. Don't let that stop you. Just join them all.
You can also join other groups. For example, Women for Obama or Maryland Women for Obama. There are groups for lawyers and young professionals. Check if there is an Obama group in your town, if not start one right away.
There's nothing like getting together with other people to work towards the same goal. On my.barackobama.com, you can organize people you already know and include other supporters who you have never met.
You and me can organize events that will include hundreds of people. I found it quite amazing to meet with nineteen of you on Wednesday night, most of you were complete strangers. Now we are becoming friends campaigning for Barack Obama.
I couldn't do it without you and without my.barackobama.com, I would've never found you. Correction: you would've never found each other as well as me. For all I did was to place an event ad to all the Prince George's and Maryland groups.
Democracy is supposed to be about the people. Take over now and become the campaign manager among your friends and neighbors. The resources are all at your fingertips.
The New York Times tells the fascinating story of Barack Obama's first race for Congress against Bobby Rush in Chicago:

The episode revealed a lot about Senator Obama — now running for president, against the odds again and with a relatively slim résumé. It showed his impatience with the frustrations of his state Senate job; his outsize confidence; his fund-raising powers; his broad appeal; and his willingness to be what Abner J. Mikva, a former congressman and supporter, calls “a very apt student of his own mistakes.”

We need somebody who can learn from his mistakes. Unlike the current man in the White House who never acknowledges any mistakes, Barack Obama has the drive and the humility to improve his performance.
That's a crucial quality in a president.

Next to George Bush, a lump of coal appears to be gold but actually Brzezinski grades Bill Clinton’s foreign policy with only a C. Now the security advisor, who predicted disaster in Iraq, gives credibility to Barack Obama. Brzezinski about Obama: “Obama, it seems to me, has both the guts and the intelligence . . . to change America’s relationship to the world.”

Obama supporters had a lot of fun marching in the Greenbelt Labor Day Parade.
It was a group effort. Mahalia from College Park had painted a banner for us. Her brother Nelson provided a sign to decorate the parade vehicle. Mark brought his flags. Roxana from Laurel composed an effective cheer, "Hope, change, Obama o'eight!" that consistently outperformed our competition. Lucinia from Brandywine loaned the campaign her beautiful Firebird convertible. Delegate Justin Ross from Greenbelt has donated rally signs.
Many spectators received the Prince George's County for Obama enthusiastically. We definitely outperformed the other campaign in the parade.
Unfortunately, I could not figure out how to post pictures. If you know how to do that, please, send me a message.
