In Pakistan, the New Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, made it clear US forces would no longer be able to operate unilaterally within the nation's borders.
"We cannot allow any other country to take action inside our territory. This is a matter of sovereignty and we cannot compromise on it," Mr Qureshi said.
Meeting the military commanders yesterday, the Government emphasized its determination to pursue dialogue as a way of turning back the tide of jihadi militant insurgency threatening the nuclear-armed nation, rather than the US-endorsed military tactics used by President Pervez Musharraf.
