Salem, Oregon Rally held on April 19, 2008Hello every one, this is goly from Ashland reporting on the Salem, Oregon Rally held on April 19 as part of the nation wide Rally Organized by grassroots efforts and a vision of a few people. Supporters of Senator Barack Obama's presidential candidacy held a rally in Salem as part of a nationwide show of support for him prior to Tuesday's primary vote in Pennsylvania. The rally started at 1 p.m. Saturday, on the steps of the Court Street NE side of the Capitol. We all recited the pledge of allegiance led by the children, our future generation. There were inspiring speeches by state Rep. Brian Clem of Salem, House candidate Jason Brown of Dallas and former Salem Mayor Mike Swaim. the organizers had done a superb job. we had a voter registration table, sign paintings, and great music and the Rally was concluded by a role play on how to canvass and then the canvassers went door to door on bicycles. I felt so proud to be part of this historical movement. Senator Obama is the front runner in a tight race with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. Oregon's primary is May 20; only Democrats registered by 5 p.m. April 29 can cast mail in their ballots in the oregon primary. Here are links to photos from the rally in Salem, Oregonlink to combined pics. http://picasaweb.google.com/gocaspian/ObamaRallySalemOregonNationforChange08

OBAMA Supers Are Still Sweet On Barack
Thu. Apr. 17, 2008
Barack Obama has picked up four more superdelegates.
DC Council member "and newly elected superdelegate" Harry Thomas Jr., "initially a supporter of" Hillary Clinton, announced he will cast his superdelegate vote for Obama. Thomas "received more than 100 phone calls and e-mails from constituents who feared" he would vote for Clinton "despite the city's overwhelming support of Obama in the Potomac Primary." Thomas: "After meeting with the candidates and listening to my constituents, I have to honor the 83 percent who support Barack Obama" (Stewart, "DC Wire," WashingtonPost.com, 4/17).
Reps. David Price (D-NC) and Mel Watt (D-NC), who had supported John Edwards, endorsed Obama 4/16, and "both predicted" Obama's "bitterness" remarks would not hurt him in NC.
Price said Obama was "simply stating the obvious." Watt said "that he's heard considerable backlash against" Clinton. Watt: "What I'm hearing is a lot of disappointment at the negativity, and the jumping on this and taking the words out and trying to parse them, that the Clinton campaign has done" (Dann, NBC/National Journal, 4/16).
And OK superdelegate Reggie Whitten also endorsed Obama, saying, "I am certain Senator Obama will continue to build a broad coalition of Democrats, Independents, and yes, even Republicans. He unites us in the belief that without change in Washington, we as a nation cannot begin to address the challenges and opportunities of our future" (release, 4/17).
Meanwhile, in non-superdelegate endorsements, ex-Sen. Donald Riegle (D-MI) endorsed Obama 4/16 (AP, 4/16). And 25 of SD's 35 Dem state legislators endorsed Obama 4/16, including the state House and Senate leaders (release, 4/16).
You May Ask Yourself, Well, How Did I Get Here?
The Philadelphia Daily News endorsed Obama, writing, "Contrary to Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign slogan, we believe Barack Obama is more likely to be 'ready on Day One' to lead us in a new direction. .. We are frankly troubled by" Clinton's "assumption that her husband's administration and accomplishments were her own."
Based on Obama's "experience in running a quarter-billion-dollar enterprise with thousands upon thousands of volunteers, we could expect an Obama administration to be well-managed and cost-effective, with the president choosing forward-thinking advisers committed to his program, demanding that they work as a team and pay attention to details. He would be steady and calm, given neither to irrational exuberance or outbursts of anger. He would make mistakes, that's for sure, but he could be expected to recognize them, adjust, and move forward. He would adjust his views to reality rather than trying to adjust reality to his views." Obama is a "once-in-a-lifetime candidate" whose admin "would lower the tone of the rhetoric that separates us" (4/17).

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton are both sustaining dents and dings from their lengthy presidential fight. The former first lady is clearly suffering more as Democratic voters no longer see her as the party's strongest contender for the White House.
Obama is ahead of Hellary.
according to a poll conducted by CBS News and UWIRE, and Barack Obama is the overwhelming favorite among those who intend to vote in the Democratic primary. Among Pennsylvania students who will vote or have voted in a Democratic primary in any state, Obama leads Hillary71 percent to 28 percent, and among those who intend to vote in the Pennsylvania primary, Obama leads by a nearly identical margin of 71 percent to 29 percent. Support for Obama is consistent across types and sizes of schools.

A republican running as a democrat.
Tim Reid in Washington
Hillary Clinton accused Iran of trying to build an atomic bomb and said that as US president she would not rule out a military strike to end Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
Mrs Clinton said that Iran must not be allowed to build or acquire nuclear weapons. If Tehran did not bow to the demands of the international community, she said, “all options must remain on the table”, the precise words used by President Bush when asked about the possibility of military action.
Mrs Clinton said that unlike Mr Bush she would seek direct talks with Tehran. But she sounded a strikingly hawkish note on Iran as she laid out the foreign policy that she would pursue if elected president - a prescription of muscular US multilateralism.
She declared that the world still wanted America to lead it and that as president she would restore its global standing by reaching out to both allies and enemies.
Mrs Clinton said that the US had been greatly damaged by the Bush Administration’s belligerent unilateralism and that America was now widely disliked and distrusted.
But, she insisted, “our allies do not want it to be this way. American leadership is wanting, but is still wanted. The next president will have a moment of opportunity to convince the world that America can lead once again. I will seize that opportunity by reintroducing ourselves to the world.”
Mrs Clinton, writing in the latest issue of Foreign Affairs magazine, did not mention her husband Bill. This month the former President said that if his wife won the White House, she would make him a roving world ambassador to restore America’s image abroad. “I will ensure the United States is committed to building a world we want, rather than defending a world we fear,” Mrs Clinton said.
She refused to specify how many US troops she would withdraw. She also said that she would leave an unspecified number in Iraq to fight al-Qaeda and train Iraqi forces, a clear sign that she knows that ending the war will be a difficult challenge.
“She doesn’t seem to have a clear plan for Iraq,” said Stephen Grand, a Fellow at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think-tank. “I’m not sure anyone has. It’s hard to be convinced that within 60 days one could come up with a plan to bring the troops home.”

oliverwillis.com — Comments by former Clinton staffer George Stephanopolis about William Ayers and Senator Obama during the latest Democratic debate are sure to produce an hysterical tidal wave of innuendos and exaggerations. This article helps will help keep things in perspective.

http://digg.com/politics/Hillary_Clinton_On_Working_Class_Whites_In_1995_Screw_em
huffingtonpost.com — After losing congress in the 1994 elections, the then-first lady gave a less than inclusive answer to the question of how to win white southerners back to the Democratic Party. "Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. If They're doing nothing for you; you don't have to do anything for them."
If bitter is so bad ...........
I wonder why this " Screw 'em" did not come up in the debate?
The Obama booth is filled with joy, hope, sweet laughter and lots of new voters.

editorandpublisher.com — Published: April 14, 2008 3:00 PM WASHINGTON After addressing the journalists gathered at the annual Associated Press luncheon in D.C. Sen. Obama, standing at the podium, took questions. AP chairman Dean Singleton's question reading from a note: bout Afghanistan, troops in Iraq, and the threat posed , as Singleton put it by, "Obama bin Laden"
This was disturbing to watch. Are they all collusion?? How stoupid do they think we AMERICANS are??
please digg and make comments.
Here is what I think of this new bitter flare up:
Loss leads to bitterness; aknowledgment leads to healing and choosing When we experience a loss which has been beyond our sphere of control. I think we do feel a sense of bitterness and betrayal. In times of loss, like losing a loved one, losing a job, I think we do tend to hold on to things that make us feel loved, sustained, and give us energy to move on and go on.this could be a number things, for some it is going to church and praying, not that we choose religion out of bitterness, but I think we choose to pray more when we are in trouble, at least I know I do.
Or we hold on to what we have left like family and we call on our friends, or we chooses issues that we think can give us that sense of control. Obama is right, even though but he may not have worded it as eloquently that he usually does.
He is humble enough to say that he regretted saying something that might have offended people.I really don't think he was trying to be stereotyping. He was speaking a truth about human nature. So when our loved one has left, our job has been taken away, our sense of security has been shaken, and we have been left with a bitter feeling in our heart.
I think cknowledging this feeling is OK, because buried beneath it is the hurt, and when we know why we hurt , it can lead us to making positive choices and find ways to heal. a
Obama is a better choice for us in this election and he can help us heal our nation.
Obama is having an open and honest conversations with us and is trying to change how our government is run. He is a new kind of leader that we need in Washington and in the world.
My support for him is firmer than ever.
