Today my husband and I went out canvassing here in Zanesville,Ohio and my eyes were really opened to the poverty, lack of hope, and the dispair of our community. We were assigned a specific area here in Zanesville and it was heart-breaking. We do not live far from this area and are by no means "well-off", but today I realized how fortunate we actually are. I was provided with a list of addresses to stop at. A lot of which are vacant, run-down, and appeared to be in a state of disrepair. Most of the houses that are currently occupied visibly needed work. It was very sad. This was a real eye opening experience. I thought to myself, does anyone else realize what this area looks like? Does anybody even care? Very few people were home or did not open their door, but a couple of people who did open the door just appeared to be a bit oppressed, just like the area they are living in.When they did open the door they just sort of looked at me as if to say, "why are you here, vote for what and who and why?" Several were not even registered to vote. We kept on going though, canvassing the neighborhood and hoping that at least one or two people would vote-and I believe they will. My husband and I had bought a house here in Zanesville in 1999 and ended up bankrupt because of the concealed bad condition the house was in. Misrepresentations were made to us about the property. We currently rent and was thinking about buying again, but after today I thought, "Do I really want to buy a house in this town?" This has caused me to really re-examine what would be best for me and my family. We the American people really do need a President who cares about the people - we need Senator Barack Obama to be our President of the U.S.A. My prayer this evening is for the people's homes that we stopped at today. I pray that they also obtain some type of relief and that they become hopeful. I would appreciate any feedback.

I think after reading my blog everyone would definitely agree that we cannot stand 4 more years of the same old stuff going on in Washington D.C. We need someone who cares about the American people and cares about what we have to say - we need Senator Barack Obama to be our next President of the United States of America.
