BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign has moved on from Indiana, leaving behind $55,000 in unpaid bills for campaign events at Indiana University.The debts are for appearances made by Clinton, former President Bill Clinton and their daughter, Chelsea, during March and April leading up to Indiana's May 6 primaryBarack Obama's campaign, meanwhile, has already paid the $108,142 it owed IU for two Assembly Hall events -- a rally featuring the Illinois senator and an Obama-sponsored concert by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds.The university charged the campaigns for sound equipment, security and other needs for their events, but school officials knew there was a risk that the bills would not be paid, IU spokesman Larry MacIntyre said."We are very happy that we were able to have both Democratic candidates here," MacIntyre said. "We feel it was a great thing for the students, and we don't have any regrets. We'd like to get paid, and certainly we believe that ultimately, we will be paid."A message seeking comment was left Friday at Clinton's campaign headquarters.In spending reports filed this week, Clinton listed $19.5 million in debts, including $10 million she has lent her campaign.Clinton and Obama both spend millions of dollars on television ads, campaign offices and staffs and events around Indiana for more than a month before the primary, which Clinton narrowly won.The Clinton campaign report listed several smaller debts around the state through the end of April, including about $900 to Kim Brand's company for setting up the computers at Clinton's state headquarters in downtown Indianapolis. Brand said he was paid after making repeated phone calls to the campaign."We didn't want to let it get too far out because then memories fade, relationships lapse," he said.MacIntyre said he was not sure what IU would do to pursue the Clinton debt if the campaign did not pay the bills."She owes $20 million. I suspect we're probably not going to get paid in a timely manner," MacIntyre said. "But what a great opportunity for students. They had, for free, a chance to be up close and personal with both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton."

"Dream Ticket"...Good idea or bad? What do you think?

Rumors are in the air again about the so-called "dream ticket." I want to know what everyone thinks of it. Would it benefit Sen. Obama to have Sen. Clinton as his #2 to real in the "blue collar" voters? One e-mail to CNN said that it would contradict his message of change since Sen. Clintons "experience" is just another way of saying old politics. So, I want you to reply to this post and tell me what you think and why.

Apology for my post title

I just want to apologize for the way I titled my last post. I thought about it a little more and I realize that there are many Republicans that are voting for Sen. Obama. I did not intend for it to be a personal jab at anyone. I should have shown a little more professionalism in my wording.

The "Audacity" of Republicans

I want to start off by saying that I am 23 years old and voted for the first time yesterday. I was undecided on my political affiliation although I did vote for Obama. I have been listening to the Greg Garrison show on WIBC for the first time this morning. I will now say that I am a democrat. Listening to these republicans and their views has made me sick to my stomach. One of his callers even went as far as saying that the Democrats are responsible for the way that the war on Iraq is going. ARE YOU SERIOUS????The most upsetting part is that Greg Garrison stated that young people are blindly voting for Barack Obama with no understanding of his political views. I am not going to begin to argue with him about political knowledge. I don't know a great deal about politics. However, myself and so many other young Americans are trying. We could be doing nothing? What I do know is this. President Bush has an approval rating that is at a record low for any modern President. I know that John McCain is really no different than President Bush. John McCain has even stated that he would be okay with being in Iraq for the next 100 years. I also know that it is going to be MY age demographic that is fighting this war. A war that 70 something percent of the country is unhappy with. People my age, give or take a few years, is fighting this war now. THIS IS WHAT YOUNG VOTERS DO KNOW! We also know that Sen. Obama is our best chance at not being stuck in another four to eight years of BS in the White House and Washington.Rush Limbaugh has started this "Operation Chaos" that encourages republicans to go and vote for Sen. Clinton so that Sen. Obama does not win the nomination. I smell fear. I think this is a juvenile attempt at kicking and screaming to get their way. They DO NOT want to compete with Sen. Obama because they know they can't win. The fact is they can't win against either Democrat. America is not stupid. Young people are not stupid. If Greg, Rush, and other conservatives think we are then they are mistaken.

"Wright" is wrong

It amazes me that "people" are allowing Rev. Wright to cause this much of a political rift. I was under the impression that our choice for President of the United States was about who can lead this country out of the looming recession, out of the war, into proper healthcare and education. Since when does our choice have to do with a strongly opinionated pastor?I mean come on people. Open your eyes. I am not saying that anyone is "behind" this well placed political "coincidence" but it needs to come to an end.We are on the doorsteps of making history. Not only in the aspect that we may have America's first black president. We are on the doorstep of bringing the racial divide closer to an end and a pastor, of all people, is single handedly preventing America's progress. We are on the verge on being a new nation that has a President who cares about the people and not special interests groups or their own personal interests and we have a Man of Faith, which states he is against civil injustices and gives sermons about what is wrong with America, derailing it.This is America and we are Americans. Make an informed decision on a President that is going to lead us and not an unhappy reverend.

Fear tactics

I have t give it to Sen. Clinton. When it comes to fear tactics she has got what it takes. Why did she win PA? How was it possible when Sen. Obama was closing the gap in the polls to near even? Ask yourself what got her the votes of those who were still unsure. Fear tactics got her the votes.More simply put, fear tactics through word association. Sen. Clinton ran an add that featured Osama Bin Laden. That, in and of itself, puts the fear of a terrorist attack in your mind. The shame of the add is that she was not merely trying to scare us with Osama. She was trying to compare the names of Osama and Obama to scare us. How better for her to get the vote than by running an add about a terrorist that has a name that is only one letter different than that of her competition. Don't get me wrong, the threat of a terrorist attack is a real possibility. However, running this add was a cheap blow and further shows the lengths that Sen. Clinton will go to get what she wants. The unfortunate part for her is that OBAMA will still come out victorious at the end.

Sticks and Stones....

I can't believe the fuss that is being caused by Obama's words regarding small town people. Is it not an allowed for a man to speak the truth about what he has seen? I read these posts on my online newspaper regarding the issue and you have all of these people who deliberately spin his words into something negative.

This is the exact reason that we need Obama as the next president. The current way of thinking is from fear. For the longest people has been instilled with fear from politicians. " Vote for me if you don't want this to happen" and " if you vote for such in such that will happen." Why won't Americans open thier eyes and see that we need to put a person in office that promises to change what they see is wrong with the country rather than play on the fears of people and do nothing if elected about the real issues.

I have know real way of knowing what Obama said when he made the comments about small town people but, I have a strong feeling that there was more that he said in that conversation that helped prove his point. Although thta's not what got out is it. What got out is what the person recording it wanted to get out. Just enough to try and make him look bad. Well guess what. It does not matter. Most Americans are intelligent to read between the lines allowing them to see that there is only one true candidate that can bring this country back and not have our hearts filled with empty promises.

Change

What is change?

Change by definition is "to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone."

Change is what matters most right now. Change is voting for a President that promises to bring it. Change is taking a stand as one united nation and taking this country back from special interests groups that are gaining from the loss so many of us suffer. Change is finally breaking through the racial barrier. Change is establishing affordable healthcare and medication costs. Change is the improvement of a continually deteriorating education system. Change is an energy plan that focuses on reducing the need for foreign oil. Change is an economic strategy to stop the looming recession. Should I go on?????
