I personally have convinced at least half a dozen intractable conservatives, who admit they will have to hold thier nose to vote for McCain to look into Bob Barr. Its working !!!! 4 of the six have already decided to (vote thier values lol) and will vote for Barr, 1 leaning and one still staunchly myopic. The redult will be at least four less votes for McCain and possibly more. I wonder how they will feel when their Nader bites them in the rear.
This tactic works best when argued from the standpoint of encouraging them not to sacrifice their own beliefs, but only if they are adamant about not voting for Obama

American doesn't need a piece meal temporary and phony holiday on gas taxes, we need to declare war on oil.
Barack is the only candidate who, as president, could give America a real break from oil prices since he is absolutely the least owing to the power brokers in the oil industry that have kept us from exploding into an energy independant golden age.
I would like to see the next president (Barack of course), make an absolute declaration of war against oil. It can be done, but we need a national will to do it, and an effrort that reflects the national security needs for it.
We need to establish a Manhattan Project like priority to do it, bringing together the very best from the Auto industry, academia, and manufacturing to produce fuel cell technology to power all of America's vehicles. Simultaneously they need to develop a conversion system for all the cars on the roads today.
A second task force needs to be working as well, to design a delivery system, and source all the manufacturing capability to produce, deliver and install this mechanism.
We must make absolutely sure that none of the technology, none of the manufacturing , none of the installation , and none of the jobs this creates in allowed to benefit anyine other than the people of America first.
As a matter of vital national security all members of this effort need to be located together, and absolutely no access, political or otherwise , be allowed to disrupt this process. Especially from the oil companies, and their lobbyist's.
While this project is underway legislation will need to be passed to protect the technology developed as a result of this process. Absolutely no foreign entities, corporate, government or otherwise will be allowed to control or access the technology until it can be demonstrated that America, and Americans do not lose security, or jobs from it's dissemination
It is not impossible that up to a million jobs can be created with technology alone, and it is imperative that the jobs created in America need to STAY in America. While it would indeed be irresponsible not to share this technology for the good of the planet, we must not outsource what could be the most important change in the course of humanity since the industrial revolution.
We would also need to assist the manufacturing parters in the project by eliminating unfair and unbalanced trade conditions that already exist , or could develop as a result of our determination reshape America's dependance on oil Also, as with the Manhattan Project, our military needs to fully engaged and on high alert to prevent any form of saboatge, from all possible sources.
How do we fund it. Get out of Iraq but, redirect the funding the war currently consumes. We certainly can afford to use this money to truly secure American and it's future.
Since the republicans just love defining the word liberal, it's high time we define the word conservative. More often than not we will be highlighting why their interpretation is the exact opposite of the real meaning of the word.
Lets point out the many reasons why they should not only not use that word as a banner of integrity, and highlight the many reasons they should run from it, as it defines their hypocrysy.
I think it most important that people from all political parties need to focus on the real issues that jeopardize our military, our economy, our healt and welfare and the very existsance of our nation.
I also believe that we need to go beyond reversing the trade and business practices that have bled America of so many jobs and so much of our wealth. Legislation should be put in place to define JOBS as a national strategic resource, and then combined with incentives for business to not move those jobs. I would even entertain declaring a class of Federal felonies up to and including forfeiture and Corporate Treason for those who think thier right to free trade takes precedence over the constitutional rights of American workers. We also need an import strategy that does not allow any nation to flood our markets with any product they want when it means American jobs are put in jeapordy. It is our country and no Country including China does has any rights here that we dont grant them.
I take every opportunity to challenge "conservatives" and to spur uncommiteds to ponder on these following examples. Im sure as a group we can expand this list, and use it to thoughtfully engage the attacks on the label Liberal, hopefully bringing many people to their senses about the real "CONSERVATIVE"agenda.

1 Environment It doesnt take a genius to see the total disregard for our environment, and the dogged resistance to recognize and address Global warming. Just how do Republican's fit this into the definition of CONSERVATIVE ?
2 We have lost all control over our border integrity and in many ways our very soverignty. Partly as a result of a total lack of will to address the issue, partly as a policy that sees cheap labor and lost jobs as good for our economy, and partly because the Corporate backers of the 'Conservative" machine simply want more profit and have no concerns about Americas future. Just how does raw greed at the lossof our soverignty fit into any definition of "Conservative"
3 The continued promulgation of trade policies that do nothing more than encourage business to flee America, and literally sacrifices America's jobs. The uncontrolled ability of companies to move jobs abroad without consequence, and the idiotic encouragement for anyone to import their products here regardless of whether or not Americans will lose their jobs,should simply be defined as treeason not just stupidity. Just how does this assault on one of our most basic rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness fit into any definition of the word "Conservative"?
4 Lets ask them what part of the word "Conservative" allows them to justify fighting an unfunded war, based on fictitious weapons and contrived enemies, virtually bankrupting our country ,and disrespecting the honor and service and lives of our dedicated military both during and after their most heroic service in Iraq?
5 Just how does the word Conservative apply when health care costs are out of control, insurance companies are making record profits, and drug companies were given a key to the treasury with a no negotiate medicare drug plan? The boldest proposal by Mccain is to end all corporate or business provided health care and give us a grand total of $5000 tax credits to offset our own $12000 insurance. Sounds like a hell of a tax increase to me, but it would "Conserve" our right to choose which thief we pay premiums to.
6 Our basic constitutional rights!!! Monitoring our conversations, reading our email, listening to our phone calls, jut how does all their actions fit inot the oath of office which say to preserve protect and defend the constitution, not appoint a mypoic idealog like salia to change it. And if scalia doesnt like this criticism tell him to get used to it or get over it No the lower case in his name is not a typo, it guages my respect for him. Just what are we conserving with this line of thinking?

Funny thing, 4 years ago an awful lot of the people I work and associate with defined then selves as conservatives, and took every opportunity to try to change my mind. Now, those of them who are still working have come to agree with most of my points, and those who are losing their homes, thier jobs and their futures are even more BITTER than I am.
