I have thought for years that the Democratic party really needs to lay off people owning legal guns. Not to say gun owners are unreasonable; they are willing to accept regulation is for the greater good. Just quit trying to take them away!
Guns are not the problem...poverty is the problem. Anybody watch "Bowling for Columbine" by Michael Moore? A happy healthy people do not shoot each other. A happy healthy people might smoke some ganja, but they generally do not become drug addicts (a little off topic, but I'm just saying). It is the hopelessness in this country, the injustices in this country, the inequality in this country, for people of all colors.
Otherwise sane people vote Republican because of this fear of losing their guns, and it's the freakin second amendment, it is never going to happen. I believe it is probably a myth, but I even heard of some guy killing people with a pen to prove one doesn't need a gun if one wants someone dead.
I know Obama has appointed his VP search team, but he of all people should know that with the internet age comes a whole bunch of unsolicited opinions so here's mine.
I believe a lot of people including independents will be moved by Obama as his general election campaign continues, but with the mood in this country the polls should not be so close between Obama and McCain.
People are fed up with the Democrats almost as much as the Republicans. There has been a huge move towards people declaring themselves independent, and Obama did very well in States where independents were allowed to participate.
Therefore, I would like to put forth Jesse Ventura...he is a bit of a wild card, but he is also a former Governor, an ex navy seal, a celebrity, and speaks a lot of truth. I have seen him call to task both Democrats and Republicans for failing the American people, and as a former professional wrestler he is well known to working class America.
UPDATE: I at least state mainstream Democrats should NOT be rewarded with a VP nod. Obama has presented himself as a person of change...he has won over a lot of independents and republicans because of this...it is not time to reward the party establishment.
