Just my thoughts about the election.

Campaigning vs. Polling Information

This information was passed to me and so I'm now passing it the you guys. I had planned on wearing my Obama gear because I had never heard of this. Some of you folks may already know this so this is intended for those who were in the dark like me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FYI -- Please, Please advise everyone that they absolutely are NOT to wear or carry any endorsement paraphernalia (i.e., shirts, pins, hats, etc...) soliciting as a campaign for one candidate or another (e.g., whomever you are voting for, etc...) when arriving to vote at the polls. It is considered a violation and is AGAINST THE LAW, which would be grounds for the polling officials to turn a potential voter away.  The reason for this is that it is considered campaigning and no one should be campaigning within an X amount of feet of the polls. Those that know the law are banking on those not so versed in the law to be overly excited and not be aware of this long standing law that just may be ENFORCED THIS YEAR!!!!!

Therefore, those that know the law are banking that if a potential voter is turned away, that they may not go home and change clothes and return to the polls to vote.  So, Please just DO NOT WEAR ANY GEAR OF ANY SORTS to the polls that would give someone any reason to turn away a potential voter!!!!!BTW: This information was researched by and received from a reliable source.  Although we should never accept all e-mails at face value, the above information is true. Each state is different and the rules are left to the interpretation of the election officials and enforced differently in different polling locations. So, to be on the safe side and avoid any issues PLEASE follow the suggestions above!!! Below is the wording for the state of NE that could potentially ban a potential voter from voting, if they are wearing campaigning attire of any type."32-1524. Electioneering; prohibited acts; penalty. No person shall do any electioneering, circulate petition, or perform any action that involves solicitation on election day
within any polling place, any building in which an election is being held, or two hundred feet of such polling place or building."Please share this information with as many people as you can. Have a great day and see you at the polls on November 4th

Sarah Palin

Since Sarah Palin has been introduced to America, people have been asking me what I think of her and up until this moment my reply was always "I don't know". I just felt like a lot was being thrown at me last week as far as the VP selection and the Republican Convention. My answer to that question is: "I'm not impressed." I really think the Hillary Supporters should feel insulted by McCain and his Team by selecting her. Let me say first that as a women I am happy to see a women be chosen to fill such an important position. You Go Girl! I think it's awesome. However, if you put Palin next to Clinton in this race Hillary would smoke her hands down. No competition. People feel that the Republicans have finally arrived in the 21st Century. They only did it because they had to attempt to even things up by making both tickets a historical event. THAT'S AWESOME. Don't get me wrong....this is really great, but the Democrats did it on their own. We didn't grab the first Skirt we saw and threw her in the race.

To Hillary Supporters: You are smarter then that! How dare McCain think that you only supported Hillary because she's a woman. You guys supported Hillary because she's got the goods: intelligence, experienced, etc. McCain has disrespected you guys and underestimated you all. It's like he think you guys a would get excited if he waved a shinny object in front of you.

McCain, If you going to go for our Hillary Supporters you're going to have to do better then that.

Democrats Convention

I think the convention is going so well. Hillary and Bill's speeches were just what the doctor ordered to further unite the party. I just have a complaint about the media coverage. I think it is wonderful that a black man is getting nominated to represent a major party in the presidential election. This is ground breaking. It just upsets me at how the media kept putting the mic in front of black supporters. The interviews were all the same - about how far blacks have come and forty years ago this historic event seemed unachievable. I think the media is not doing Obama any good by only focusing on the black supporters. Obama's supporters are very diverse and that fact is not being conveyed to America. Race plays a big part in this race and other races should see that they are going to be represented by Obama as well. I don't want people to think that Obama is going to get in office and only focus on black people. The biggest fear that I think most of the non-supports have is that Obama is going to get in the white house and turn it into the black house. Let's show America the many different shades of Obama supporters!Keep up the good work and I will support you guys to the end.-Lana
