I worked for Barack making over 2,300 calls, acting as a precinct captain, and makng monetary contributions with my partner, Alan D. Longman. We did all of this because I worked in the Clinton administration in the Natonal Labor Relations Board and had many unfortunate dealings with William B. Gould IV. (By the way, Gould's selection was motivated on a recommnedation by Robert Reich.) The agency deteriorated during his reign and we wanted something better for working men and women. We knew that there wouldn't be any change if Hillary Clinton was elected to the Presidency. Further, we worked hard for Obama because we opposed the war in Iraq. Clinton supported that war and we doubt that she would act differently in light of her resolve not to apologize for her vote for war.
We worked hard to stop Clinton in the primaries. Now, we face that another challenge...a possible Clinton selection as Secretary of State. If Clinton gets the appointment, thousands of Federal employees in the Foreign Service and other agencies will be greatly disappointed. The Clinton reputation for mistreatment of Federal employees is widely-known. We can see no reason for this appointment. Federal employees deserve better. As a friend of mine said, "If Obama is so strong on unity that he wants Clinton, then he should appoint Palin as Secretary of Education."
California Nurses Association is working very hard to Get Out The Vote for Barack. While their professional staff is out in swing states, I am home "picking up the slack" of their work. This is the most rewarding work I have ever done. Baraack brings out the very best in people and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the primary and national campaigns. I would like to say thank to everyone who has touched my life during these campaigns and I sincerely hope that I can work with you again in the near future in the Re-Elect Barack Obama campaign...may the gods walk between all of you and dark places thoroughout the coming years! Thanks Again!
I, for one, am shocked and appalled that the potential VP nomination of the Republican Party has a pregnant under-age daughter who is marrying an 18 year old. Really, I find all of this distasteful. I was brought up to believe that teenage sex was legally punishable. What ever happened to "statutory rape"? There are people in jail for such behavior. Have the Republicans just gone crazy....imagine this happening to a democrat...the Republicans would be criticizing our morals and be acting all full of themselves. Also, I think that it is imperative that the democrats issue something to indicate that teenage pregnancy is harmful not only to the children involved but also to our society..it burdens our health care system and over burdens our welfare rolls. I wonder what the response would have been if the teenagers were black or Latino? What's this country coming to...is everything just a Rove-spin.
I also believe that Ms. Mooseburger has been hand picked by Rove and Company long ago and that they had this planned all along...they just didn't plan on an underage pregnancy. She has had too much cosmetic work done and has been involved with Washington lobbyists too long not to be connected. (She hired a Washington lobbyist to secure funds for her town while she was mayor...what's up with that? Where did she get the money?) My new code for life:Never trust an Alaskan with plastic surgery!!!!!
1) Isn't it interesting that the the only individuals criticizing Barack for his "bitter" coment are those who have never been poor or have never totally lost their life supports, and by the way, ....his critics...they are mostly white!
2) With respect to the Weathermen group...(I only know Bernadine Dohrn) Apparently, the public can't get over it. The remaining members of the group are successful in this society and have made great contributions since their days as terrorists. What might have been more interesting than criticizing those who have some connection to them would be to ask what these people have to say about 1) what compelled their behavior 2) why they are not remorseful 3) what advice would they give to poiticians and government officials that might shed some light on the motives and activity of the classic American terrorist....(Gee do we have any of these...well, there's the Oklahoma City bombing , SLA, SNCC, Idaho, etc.) Come on, let's use what we have available to us to seek understanding rather than sharpening cheap political tools
I don't understand why everyone is questioning a potential conflict of interest concerning the activities of Mark Penn, Hilllary's campaign manager. Really, the guy is her campaign manager and he is a lobbyist for the telecommunications industry. He just met with Colombian diplomats concerning a senate proposed ratification of a NAFTA type agreement. Bush is pushing the bill and Hillary is supposed to be against it. Yet, in spite of Hillary's supposed opposition to the billl her campaign manager is meeting with Colombian diplomats in order to what???? Advance the ratification??? Personally express Hillary's opposition to the treaty???? To tell the Colombians that in site of her public opposition, she'll support the treaty after the election is over????
